DOULTON'S BURSLEM PLATTER LATE 19TH CENTURY OXFORD PATTERN 1873-1890 SHIPS FREE!
A large Doulton's platter made in Burslem. England between 1881(the year they moved to Burslem) and 1891. After 1891 the word England was added to the mark, so we can be quite comfortable with these dates. At that time Doulton's had not yet acquired the royal warrant. The platter is quite hefty at 3.5 pounds, and measures 12.5 by 15.5 inches by 1.5 inches deep. The pattern is Oxford, in brown on a cream field and is an under glaze transferware design. If you are unfamiliar with this process, the design was engraved on copper plates, inked, and printed on tissue, from which the design was transferred to the ceramic surface. Well and charmingly marked in ink and also with an impressed mark. The potter also marked the piece with an amusing monogram that is unidentified. There is quite a bit of discoloration on the bottom and lesser amounts ... moreon the top surface which I have attempted to display in photos. Please keep in mind that this object is at least 122 years old and has seen a lot of use over the last century. Please do not place in dishwasher or allow to soak as this will only add to discoloration beneath the glaze. No cracks or chips. Ther is surface scratching from silver ware. Lot 19th C Brownfield Wisconsin English Staffordshire Platter Bowl Sugar c 1855
A lot of highly decorative Wisconsin ironstone serving pieces made in Staffordshire. England ca 1855 by William Brownfield& Sons. It's in as found condition, most usable and all displayable. There are two 10" oval serving bowls with no lids. Both ring true. One has an internal spot and two tight surface hairlines on the bottom, otherwise both very good and perfectly usable. There's a sugar bowl in good condition with a teapot lid(but it works) and is usable. Couple of no-show shallow chips to inside rim of lid. There are iron spots on the both bowls and the sugar bowl, which is just the iron leaching through the clay, a not uncommon occurrence in this type of ware. There's a 16" X 12 3/4" platter with no chips, cracks or dings, but with notable crazing. It's not dead, but it's more of dong than a ding! ... moreThe 16" X 10 3/4" tureen underplate also has no chips or cracks, but is very crazed and dead. Not so important if you have the tureen! Finally, the teapot is a mess. Its lid has been broken and badly repaired and there's a big dark line around the base. Still displayable. This lot will ship at an 18 lb. rate. If you're on the east coast, you can request a revised invoice. They're part of a nice lot I just purchased from an incredible estate of a major Staffordshire collector. In the last photo is a 20" platter in wonderful condition I have listed separately. I'll be listing some other pieces in this pattern and have many wonderful items for sale in my Sunny Knoll Antiques eBay store. So please check my listings for other great finds. (2) c 1845 Meir Staffordshire Wild Rose 14" Platter Blue White Transferware 19th
From the estate of a major CT collector comes this pair of ca 1845 John Meir English Staffordshire Wild Rose 14 1/8" X 11 1/4" platter in excellent antique condition with no chips. Cracks or dings. There are flaws in the doubled transfer decoration(early seconds I guess) and some light crazing, but they ring true. Their impressed with an indecipherable mark. This piece is exquisite with its Handpainted pastel flowers so reminiscent of Sceaux pottery. I haven't seen a reticulated piece which adds to its uniqueness. It is in excellent condition for its age. Has a minor amount of paint loss in between the diamond pattern cuts but doesn't detract from the piece. I obtained this at an estate sale so don't know anything about its history. It's obviously been well taken care of. It is 11 1/4 x 9" oval. Payment is due within 24 hrs of auction end. large antique blue white transferware platter 19th century
This large blue and white transfer ware platter is a treasure measuring 17 1/2" x 13" The mark on the back I believe reads"circassia" and"S& JB" and probably dates to the 1860- 1880's. Huge Antique Flow Blue Flo Platter 19th century Victorian - Stunning Festoon
This is an exquisite large carving platter measuring 18.5 x 15 inches(approx) from a fine English family. While the set is not marked there are things we know. The family came from Birmingham and had an exceptional collection of Sheffield and Birmingham silver and a huge collection of fine china and procelein. Among the estate items were many antique French provincial. Antique English, and antique Italian kitchen items. The owners were in the foreign service and lived extensively in France, England, Italy, Turkey, and Japan where they had many servants and lived in large mansions. And that is all we have for provenience. In doing research. I found a similar festoon pattern of about 1840 but I found nothing comparable of this size or shape or with the exact pattern. This platter appears to be very old and it would not surprise me if many many ... moreyears of careful use and washing had obliterated the makers mark. As to the platter itself- it is lovely and will make a fine addition to any display china cabinet. One could still use it- but it is a thing of beauty which seems a waste to put at risk. T his is a beautiful platter that has been in storage for nearly fifty years and has only recently come to light of day. Unfortunately. We have lost the people who might have answered our questions about it. If you are able to provide further information about this set, it will be greatly appreciated.

Stunning Primitive Antique 19th Century Victorian Majolica Platter Frogs on Leaf
Stunning Primitive Antique 19th Century Victorian Majolica Platter Frogs on Leaf So. I went to the auction of a lifetime this past weekend. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! Oh. This is one of my favorites this week- and you know, I'm very seldom a fancy Victorian style lover, but this one is just drop dead gorgeous- what's not to love about the adorable frogs and that beautiful green leaf? It's an 1800s majolica pottery platter, the the shape of a large leaf in shades of deep green to light mossy green, and then there's 7 small deep gold frogs perched ... moreall over the leaf- watching for a juicy fly, I'm sure! The piece measures 11" widest, 11 1/2" deep and is 1 3/8" tall on the side of the leaf when sitting on the table. It weighs 3 1/4 lbs, so it's pretty hefty for its size. It is in excellent overall condition. There's heavy crazing that you can see when looking closely- all over, see photos 12 and 20 front/back for the close ups. There are no cracks or pottery chips that I can find. 5 of the frogs have teeeeenie glaze flicks/glaze chips or rubs in high relief spots- you really have to look to see them- I'm talking the largest being maybe 1/16" if you stretch it. I'm showing close ups; a nose tip in photo 6, nose tip, eye and eyebrow tips in photo 8, eye socket tops in photo 9. Please supersize and look at all- I think they are very minor considering the age and that the frogs are raised so off of the platter. The platter itself is in really nice shape- I cannot find any nicks or chips. Photo 18 is showing a close up of some palpable bumps on the edge in one spot- they are really small, look like clay to me(but they could be dirt, but they have the same dark color of the clay on the

Antique Blue Willow Platter,19th Century ,English Ironstone pottery RW Midwinter
This is a listing for an antique English Willow platter. With the usual iconic colors of the willow the deep blue and white. This Ironstone platter is in very good condition for its age. There is crazing but only one chip on the back of the plate where the layer has worn away, not a chip as you can see in picture 7.And this item seems to be different from others offered as it is more round in shape and the handle shaping is evident at the sides. The scene is the ancient Chinese village,as is shown on most Willow plates The plate is stamped on the back with the name Willow,R.Midwinter-Burslem,England.The platter measures 9 1/2" x 9 1/4" Great example of Willow and Ironstone pottery and a great collectible item
Exceptional Blue Willow Platter from Early 19th C. - 11.25" by 15"
An exceptional early 19th century platter in the traditional Blue Willow transferware design. What makes this exceptional is twofold: one. It's in excellent condition after 200 years; and, two, it looks and feels classical and special. The detail in the transfers are finely done and the color overall is a soft cobalt. Border designs vary in Blue Willow and the one used in this platter is of the Spode design. Though I cannot attribute the platter as Spode. The platter actually doesn't have a manufacturer's mark. Although it does have two impressions, a numeral, 14" and a star-like mark(see close-ups) According to The Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery 1780-1880. These marks refer to the size of the platter and to the potter who made it. It measures 11 1/4" by 15" by 1 3/8" deep. I did my best to capture ... morethe style and quality in pictures. And to describe the piece as completely as possible, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Please note that any errors or missing information is unintentional. I accept PayPal only. Please provide payment within 3 days unless we agree to other arrangements. Once payment clears. I will ship with insurance within 3 business days. The shipping fee might seem a bit high, but I package antique china in a box within a box to best protect your investment. No returns. If something is amiss. Please alert me by"Contact Seller" rather than leave a low rating. I want to resolve any issues rather than have my customers dissatisfied with their purchases.
