For sale is a gorgeous large antique Ironstone platter from the 1800s.Beautiful blue and white colors.It has an oriental design to it except the women do not really look oriental so am not sure.It is like a transferware piece and the mark on the back says WRS&CO. and UNION.I do not know what company this is.It measures 17 1/2" across by 12 3/4"No chips or cracks but it has been used.There are some dark areas on the underside edge in the middle that is just from use.A couple light marks on the front-see photos but does not detract from this beautiful platter.This will have to be shipped in an oversize box and will be insured.

Offered for sale is an antique white ironstone platter. Made by T. R. Boote in the 1851 shape. This eight sided platter is in good condition for it's age. It is 1 6 1/4" long and 12 5/8" wide. There are no chips. Cracks, or any discoloration. It has been used over it's 150+ life, so there are a few very minor scratches, but the glaze is shiny and in good shape. There are a few glaze pops, but really very good condition overall. The only condition problem worth mentioning is on the edge of the platter; that you can see in the second photo. And very minor. The platter sits nice and flat on the table. You can see the impressed hallmark on the bottom of the platter in the third photo. I have a pair of these platters for sale. For sale is a very large. Heavy white ironstone serving platter marked Austria; it has an urn mark, which I have been unable to identify. It is also hand-marked D14 64(over) 68. I believe it to be late 1800's. Early 1900's. It has a beautiful hand-painted motif of blue flowers, brown stems, and pale green leaves: You can feel the paint on the surface of the platter. It has a ridge in the middle of the underside to support the filled platter's weight. This is a pure white ironstone platter which shows little use! See the many photos of all the surfaces which show condition. There is one small scratch in the center that looks like it's from cutting something. There is a ripple in the glaze on the top outer rim which was done during the making. Also on the bottom there is a similar ripple in the glaze. This being said. I will say the condition is excellent. There is a lot of shine which is rare in these old dishes. It has an impressed mark that reads in an oval shape: Davenport Ironstone China and has an anchor inside the oval of words. My research shows impressed"Davenport" with an anchor was used from 1810-1825; various printed forms of"Davenport Stone China" with an anchor was used from 1819-1864. I believe. Then, that this platter is dated sometime from 1810-1864. The platter is in very good condition for its age: No chips. Cracks, or breaks, but I do see utensil marks, several light stains, scratches and scuff marks on the underside, and some pits in the glaze. The platter has a beautiful scalloped edge design. Large Antique Ironstone Platter, W.H. Grindley & Co., England, White, Fluted
Very Large Ironstone Platter manufactured by W. H. Grindley& Co. England in the 1880's/1890's This is a very large and unusually shaped platter. 18" x 13 1/4" x 1 1/2" It is classic Victorian era ironstone with a glossy white glaze. The rim is slightly ruffled or fluted and the overall shape is rectangular but with curved sides. Opposing sides of the inner platter have a little extra curve as well. The variations in shape are subtle. The bottom of the platter is marked W.H. Grindley& Co. England. The hallmark is slightly blurred. Grindley was founded in 1880 in Tunstall. Stoke on Trent, England. The platter is in excellent condition. There are no cracks. Breaks or hairline cracks. There are a few very small nicks to the glaze on one edge which are pictured. J. Edwards White Ironstone President Shape 18 12" Antique Platter England c1850
This auction is for a white antique ironstone platter c1850. there is an English Registry Mark on the back but I can't read all of it but the mark dates between 1842 and 1867 I believe from what I can see. J. Edwards operated until 1900 in Fenton, Staffordshire, England. This is a very large and heavy platter and it is marked President Style on back. Measurements are 18 1/2" in length in 13 1/2 in width. It is oval in shape and has an impressed pattern around the outside edge. It weighs a bit under six pounds without any packaging. I call this very good condition, minor use wear and a few pit spots on the edge that look like back pin points in the pics. No chips, no cracks, no crazing and no staining. Very unique and rare antique warming dish. I have never found anything like it before or since. Made of ironstone and in perfect condition. No chips. Cracks or repairs. Hot water was poured into the uncorked hole to keep food warm, much like old baby dishes and bowls. It looks like a tureen until you take lid off, which reveals a shallow dish or platter. This auction is for a Lovely and Large Antique White Ironstone Oval Platter made by W& E Corn of England in the company's Wheat Pattern. At a Large 19 inches by 13 1/2 inches. It would make a perfect serving platter for an upcoming holiday feast. The pattern has a molded ring of wheat stalks around the border against white ironstone. The platter is in Very Good condition. Especially for its age, which dates to the mid 1800s. There are no chips or cracks. There is a small dime-sized area on the face with a glaze pop and missing glaze and slight discoloration(see last photo) It doesn't detract from the appeal of this Impressive Piece.
