This auction is for a Fabulous Flow Blue Pearl Ware Platter made by Wood& Brownfield of Cobridge. England in the 1840s. It is in the company's beautiful Pekin Pattern. Which is a floral design with a bold repeating diamond border design and a gently scalloped edge. Pieces by Wood& Brownfield are Very Scarce since they operated for less than a decades. From 1841 to 1850. The platter is in very good condition. Especially given its age. There are no chips or cracks or repairs. The is very fine and even crazing that is common for pieces of this vintage. It is very hard to spot. William Adams& Sons Flow Blue Large Platter: Early 1800s The listing is for a very large octagon Platter made by William Adams& Sons in England in the early 1800's. The platter is edged with stylized blue six petaled flowers on a blue branched background. The center has a bucolic. Pleasant scene with Churches, Flora and A Man and Woman casually strolling; both seem to be in deep conversation. Another man is lying on the grass watching them. The pattern is not very sharp. There is overall crazing and browning at the center, more so on the back, than on the front. There are two hairlines and two chips at the edge, and a tiny nick. The mark on the back is also very blurry and I believe it reads Sirius. Not sure. An appraiser assured ... moreme that this was a William Adams& Sons early Mark. Between 1819& 1864 is his guesstimate. Approximate Measurements: 15-3/4 inches at longest point 12 inches at widest point 1-5/8ths inches high And weighs approximatel y 3 pounds 11 ounces without packing materials. A company which he purchased from Mason's in 1851, later to be bought by Ashworth's in 1859. Hence, this exceptional flow blue piece in the pattern called Chusan, which is a chinoiserie-style of asian inspired artwork by the Staffordshire, England manufactory. This piece was retailed by a fine china and glass importing established in 1842 by Hector Tyndale. A Philadelphia philantropist, abolitionist, and Civil War General. The company was on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia called Tyndale Mitchell. This is ... morea rare piece which displays good blue color and good glaze retention. Practically no crazing to mention and a few minor stains and a spider hairline which can be seen from top and bottom. It is very heavy weighing a little over 6 pounds. I have for you this evening a very fine example of flow blue made at the kilns of New Wharf Potteries in England in the late 19th century. This lovely piece is made of very nice grade semi-pocelain and has been cast into a traditional oval mold with deep well. This piece has had a lovely shamrock pattern called Paris transfer applied to it and then fired so the pattern in cobalt has flowed and mingled into the pristine whiteness of the porcelain giving this the look that collectors of these wears like to see. This will make a lovely addition to your collection and will display beautifully no matter were you choose to display it. Item dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. Huge Antique Flow Blue Flo Platter 19th century Victorian - Stunning Festoon
This is an exquisite large carving platter measuring 18.5 x 15 inches(approx) from a fine English family. While the set is not marked there are things we know. The family came from Birmingham and had an exceptional collection of Sheffield and Birmingham silver and a huge collection of fine china and procelein. Among the estate items were many antique French provincial. Antique English, and antique Italian kitchen items. The owners were in the foreign service and lived extensively in France, England, Italy, Turkey, and Japan where they had many servants and lived in large mansions. And that is all we have for provenience. In doing research. I found a similar festoon pattern of about 1840 but I found nothing comparable of this size or shape or with the exact pattern. This platter appears to be very old and it would not surprise me if many many ... moreyears of careful use and washing had obliterated the makers mark. As to the platter itself- it is lovely and will make a fine addition to any display china cabinet. One could still use it- but it is a thing of beauty which seems a waste to put at risk. Mercer USA Pottery Flow Blue leaf and flower design 15" by 12" platter Rare Nice
I have for you this evening a beautiful example of semi porcelain was created at the kilns of Mercer Pottery in the good ole USA in the later part of the nineteenth century. This piece is made from fine grade clays and has been cast into a classic deep well meat platter mold. I do not know the pattern name for this piece but can tell you that the pattern consists of lovely little flowers and big broad leaves. The way the deep cobaly blue flows into the stark white of the semi porcelain is just what gets the blood working for collectors of these wares. This piece is very pretty and will make a lovely addition to your collection and will display nicely no matter the setting. Item dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. Antique Manilla Pattern Platter An item not often encountered this large platter made by Podmore& Walker of Tunstall. Staffordshire, England dates from 1834-1859 and carries the wonderful flow blue Manilla pattern. The platter measures 15 5/8" at its longest and about 12 1/4" at its widest. The pattern is astounding and the blue is very deep. The images include Asian style flowers and willow trees with buildings. Noted for accuracy and shown there are some areas on the platter that have bubble pops from the glazing process both on the front and back but there are no chips, cracks, or crazing to note.The center of the reverse shows a lightly printed mark that reads"Manilla P. W. Co. Ironstone" as well as an impressed mark that reads"Pearl Stone Ware P W& Co. The impressed mark is much less often seen than the ... morepattern mark and other marks that were employed by the company. This is an antique blue transferware platter or bowl in good visual. Displayable condition, but there are flaws. There is a long hairline on one side, and a couple shorter ones on the other, but they are nearly undetectable from the top. There is also crazing, which has darkened mostly on the bottom. There is an impressed mark, but can't make it out. Possibly a Minton cipher? There are no chips. It is approx. 12 1/4in. by 9 3/4in. Nice item to add to your collection or existing set. This is a wonderful Blue Feather Edge Platter. 16 3/4 in long x 13 in wide. There is some minor wear and scuffing on the bottom but no chips, cracks or hairlines. Just a fantastic piece. There is a makers mark on the bottom. It is impossible to read. I would guess it might say Staffordshire since they were the biggest producer of this. The mark is in a half circle embossed into the back. This platter weighs over 4.1 lbs. It is Octagon shaped. On the front there are 3 marks from the cooling stands and on the back there is three groups of 3 which is the same from the cooling stands as they stacked them. Beautiful Condition With no Chips. Please be patient there are 17 photos to be loaded in this auction. An absolutely gorgeous late nineteenth– early twentieth century round flow blue serving platter ... morewith a fancy. Gold trimmed scalloped rim and deep cobalt floral& swag décor. The flowers are a combination of daisies, morning glories and bluebells. It measures 1-5/8” high x 15” in diameter and is signed(illegibly) in blue under glaze on the back so we are unable to attribute the maker or the pattern but are guessing that the platter is of American manufacture as opposed to English as there is no registry mark. In addition to the cobalt stamp there is a number 13 stamp, and hand painted in red: B 7572” The condition is excellent with no chips, nicks, cracks, breaks, touch-ups or repairs and no discernible wear to the shiny glaze or to the deep flow blue decoration. Some age wear to the gold gilt around the perimeter of the scalloped rim(some wear on the high spots but the wear is somewhat hard to distinguish from the actual decoration as the application is a sponged on effect as opposed to a straight line) A really pretty antique flow blue round platter that would be really stunning as a cookie or sandwich tray for a hostess to use! Antique Gaudy Welsh platter. In lovely Imari style with flow blue polychrome design of flowers and a bird. Likely dates early to mid-19th century. Quite lovely, and in very good condition, having no chips or cracks. There is surface wear commensurate with age and a bit of staining under the two darker blue areas on lower front of plate. There is an old metal plate hanger attached that we have not tried to remove. Looking closely w/ loupe, we see no damage or chipping, etc. from this. Back has pretty floral flow blue detailing on all the ends. And has what looks like a Victoria's Crown with hand painted numbers below.There are also two incised numbers that look like 2 and 16. This large platter measures 17-1/4" x 14-1/4" x 1-3/4" and is quite heavy, weighing over 4-1/2 lbs. Please note that for shipping, this is an oversized ... morepackage, and insurance is included.
