CONDITION USED- ANTIQUE As is typical of this ware. The platter has small discolored spots on it, most all of which are around the edges. There are several tiny spots/pits on the front, the size of the head of a straight pin, and more spotting on the back. However, this platter is overall cleaner than most. This is a 13 3\4 by 9 3\4 inch. 1890 J& G Meakin, Hanley England, ironestone china serving platter. The marking on the back dates this heavy piece to the 1890's. This platter is heavily crazed and has some rough spots in the glaze along the rim. There is one very small, square chip, some discolored spots, and general signs of age and use.
