The butler’s tray measures 28 inches long from handle to handle by 24 inches long and 17 inches wide at the serving surface and 1.50 inches high. It is a very heavy tray that is ornately decorated. A great size that is perfect for serving drinks. Meats and other festive goodies during your next lavish affair. This impressive tray was purchased from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania estate of an individual who loved to entertain in a grand manner. We paired it with a Gorham, 1892, Tea and Coffee Service and the matching Tilt Kettle, in two other auctions, to show how elegantly this butler’s tray can display a service. The Butler’s tray is decorated in what appears to be the Shell& Gadroon pattern. A heavily applied and embossed design. Two large, open handles are decorated with the gadroon and a leaf pattern. The inner portion of the tray is etched with a lovely, paisley pattern of flowers, leaves and scroll work, some against a chased background. The piece sits upon four balled feet. This auction is for a Beautiful and Large Covered Cheese Dish made by Royal Bonn of Germany and marked with the Franz Anton Mehlem impression. It is beautifully decorated in a floral design. Hand colored in spots. It also has a Great Ribbed design with a handle made to look like a Vine and Leaf. The dish dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. For that age. It is in very good condition, without any chips or crack or repairs to the plate or the dome. The floral design is bright and clear. There is age-appropriate loss of the gold accent lines. It has crazing as is expected of ceramics and porcelain of this vintage. It only adds to the character of the piece. It has hand written numbers on the underside of the lid. The lid and the plate have an ink registration diamond and the plate has an impressed mark of Franz Anton Mehlem of Germany. The ... morepiece is one of the largest cheese dishes I have come across. Royal Staffordshire - Carlton - Covered Butter? Dish
This listing is for an antique teal blue on white round covered dish manufactured in England by Royal Staffordshire Potteries in their"Carlton" pattern. It features beautiful teal blue flowers with an embossed perimeter and gold banding. I believe this was a butter dish and from my research the piece has a circa date of around 1903. This piece was acquired from a local estate sale that featured many pieces of fine china and decorative collectibles. The dish measures about 7 3/4 inches across from handle to handle. The entire piece is in excellent condition for its age with no chips. Cracks, or crazing. There are several light surface scratches on the face of the dish, but they're not readily noticable. The glaze and pattern are still crisp and bright and the blue is strong. The gold banding shows an overall minor wearing with ... morea more moderate loss in spots, but I would say at least 80% of the gold still remains around the rim of the dish and virtually all of the gold highlights remain on the lid. Even with a few normal imperfections on the dish from the manufacturing process and a few light brown spots on the face of the dish, this piece shows very well. John Maddock and Sons Ltd dish is rare! According to the Potteries Organization located on the internet. These dishes are circa 1896. With minimal utensil marks. Light edge staining that may be removed, this rare relish or bread dish may complete any set you have begun. Measures 5 x 6 7/8 inches and almost 3/4 inches deep. This lovely bluish-green floral pattern is named Heumann. Embedded on the underside: crown] EVII. IX. And a couple of additional marks. Hard Paste Porcelain Platter France Boisette c. 1778-92 F or auction a mystery platter. Probably French. Certainly hard paste. Probably Boisette. 1778-1792 Jacques Vermonet& Son. See J.P.Cushion's Handbook of Pottery& Porcelain Marks" in collaboration with W. B. Honey Fourth Edition(Revised and Expanded) 1980. Page 27. Platter is unmarked but I have seen another of this exact shape with this manufacturer information. The bottom of the platter is flat. Unglazed. There is a small V incised into the base near one edge. Otherwise. Unmarked. Since I am not positive about the manufacturer's identification, the platter is being sold as is. I t is my hope that some savvy bidder with better reference materials than I will recognize this for what it is and add it to his or her collection. C ondition: The gilding along the rim is ... moremuch rubbed. Not inconsistent with its age. There are a very few fine scratches, but the surface is wonderfully smooth. There is one spot on the cavetto where the stems of one cluster of flowers have been rubbed through. If you look at the third image you may notice that one end of the platter is flatter than the other. No chips, cracks or crazing. M easurements: 13 inches in length and 9 inches across. We don't know who made it. But it's a very well made piece. Around the edge is a pattern of openwork. At the edge of the rim on either side is a design of basket weave and shells, which serves as a handle. This is an attractive and elegant piece of antique porcelain, and would make an excellent addition to any collection. The plate is in fair overall condition. It has been repaired and repainted along the edge in the past. The paint used has discolored over time to a darker shade than the overall color of the piece. There are two hairlines around the rim. Beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful is the best way to describe this circa 1900 Henry Alcock& Co. transferware large oval platter. This 12"x17" platter is in the Emerald pattern. The design of delicate white flowers on a soft green background alternates with green flowers on a creamy white background. Each segment is divided by graceful gold curly-cues. In addition, tiny gold dots decorate the centers of the white flowers. Scalloped edges are the finishing touch to this terrific serving platter. There is slight crazing on the front and back of this 100 year old platter- amazing for its age! This rare server is in perfect condition with no cracks or chips. A fabulous addition to any table setting as well as a thoughtful gift for that someone special.

This listing is for an antique Theodore Haviland 18 1/2 inch oval serving platter manufactured in Limoges. France in an unknown pattern. It's a beautiful pattern featuring multi-colored pastel floral sprays with heavy gold accents and highlights on a pure white embossed surface. The platter is in excellent condition with no perceptible rubbing or fading of the gold or pattern and no cracks, scratches, chips, or crazing. The pattern, gold, and glaze are very strong. I could only find one flaw that I tried to show in the third picture. There is a blackened dimple in the porcelain that is hidden in the leftmost flower. The handle is a hand painted full figural rooster. Each of the twelve egg cups is decorated with rose decals and there is a gold accent line around the outer perimeter. The dish does have some damage. There is a repair on the rooster at the base of the body that goes completely around the figure; a 1-1/2 inch hairline at the base of the handle that appears on the side of one cup; a chip inside the rim of one egg cup; and a paint flake on the rooster's comb. This is an antique from circa 1840. The pattern is one that was made by several different pottery makers in Staffordshire at the time. Alcocks and Whitehaven among them. We don't know the name of the pattern, some folks refer to it as'GEM' but we're not sure that is the correct pattern name. Lovers of Blue and White do have the same pattern listed on their website with that as the name, so perhaps it is correct. There is no backstamp on this platter. No matter what the name. This listing is for an antique Charles Edward Haviland dresser tray manufactured in Limoges. France. The handpainted pattern features beautiful pastel sweetpea flowers on a scalloped and embossed tray with brushed gold accents and perimeter. The handpainted pattern is strong across the entire piece. The gold shows some minor to at times moderate wear in spots, but it is relatively strong across the entire piece. I was able to date this piece to the turn of the 20th century because of the backstamp in green. The piece is in excellent condition with no noticable scratches. Cracks, chips, or crazing. The pattern is strong and the glaze still shines beautifully. The tray measures about 10 1/2 inches across the long side and is almost 7 inches wide.
