Fabulous Large Jacob Furnival White Ironstone Oval Platter 18" England c1845
This auction is for a Fabulous White Ironstone Platter made by Jacob Furnival& Co. of England in the mid 1800s. It is in excellent condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or stains or repairs. The ironstone is very white. It is very hard to find a piece of Antique White Ironstone in a condition this good. The platter doesn't even have crazing. The piece is very heavy and thick and has a neat panel design. The platter as the Black Royal Coat of Arms backstamp with the company's initials. JF. It also has an impressed mark"16" The piece dates from 1845 and 1870. The years Jacob Furnival operated in Stoke-on-Trent, Cobridge England. This platter dates between 1845 and 1870. Size: 14.25" x 9.75" Color: white ironstone Condition: no chips. No cracks, does show sign of usage but, not abused, some old age spots and yellowing that is more notifiable in my high resolutions photos Very nice thick heavy piece for it's age to add to your antique ironstone collection. JACOB FURNIVAL MEDINA PATTERN ENGLISH IRONSTONE PLATTER Presented is a handsome English Mulberry ironstone pattern made by Jacob Furnival& Company. The platter is done in the Medina pattern which depicts people in a garden with mountains. Mosques, and other types of architecture in the background. The central scene is surrounded by smaller scenes of ships and boats. The platter was made in the mid 1800s, certainly between 1845 to 1865. The platter is marked on the underside with J.F. Co. for the maker and Medina for the pattern. The condition is excellent. The platter still has an excellent ring when wrapped with a knuckle. The small loss of glaze that you see in the third photo is not an imperfection. It is where the tripod held the piece in place when it was being ... morefired. This can be seen on most pieces of iron stone from the mid-1800s. It is not an imperfection. The tray has some crazing throughout. But this is fairly minor.
