Large stone buildings, a lake with an oriental boat and two oarsmen. Also many trees and clouds in the background. The border consists of scenic vignettes alternating with floral reserves. I find no utensil marks. Chips, cracks, or repairs. No utensil marks on the front. The edges are smooth and the central scene is very shiny. One dark tiny spot on the edge done in the firing. I find no crazing front or back. The makers stamp; an Urn, Canova, Stone Ware. on the back. A dark line under the glaze, a 12" spot without porcelain on one back border and two tiny spots on the opposite end. Some blue spots done in the firing. No later than the 1830s. it is unmarked. It is English. Beautifully hand-painted flowers with blue trim and gold gilding. Condition is only fair for age. There is a chip on the foot(pic#3) there is a small chip on the edge on the underside. small line on the underside that isn't on the front. There is discoloration. Mostly on the back. RARE 2 Color DAVENPORT CYPRUS Ironstone Black Mulberry 14" Platter Alcock Texas
Just removed from the family estate of south Texas Pioneers Sidbury Family. There is some information on the estate at the end of the listing. This is a very RARE piece of IRONSTONE from the 1850s. What makes it unique is that it is done in 2 colors. The trees and bushes have a have a blue color over the black transferware. It is glazed over so it was a factory design. Platter is 13.625 inches long by 10.5 inches across. NO nicks. Chips, hairlines, cracks, etc. but 2 corners do have rubs as shown in picture. Some of the clear glaze is off the blue that you can see when turning in the light. Has a little utensil scratching but pretty minor. Backstamped with the DAVENPORT CYPRUS design and impressed with an Anchor, the word YENPOR, possibly YENPORT, the number 1 and 8 on each side of the anchor. Sidbury(1830-1904) The builder of this house, was born in north Carolina and came with her parents to Sterling Robertson's colony before the Texas Revolution(1836) She married John Wesley Scott in 1848; they moved to Nueces county, where he died in 1867. In 1875, she was married again to builder Edward D. Sidbury. A civic leader and bank Director, Mrs. Sidbury became manager of her husband's lumber company after his death in 1881. This structure was part of the expansion resulting from the ropes boom of the early 1890's. Colonel E. H. Ropes of New Jersey planned to make Corpus Christi a deep water port. He began dredging a channel across Mustang Island but ran out of money and abandoned the project. One of two rent houses originally constructed by Mrs. Sidbury about 1893 in the bluff addition on upper north Broadway. ANTIQUE BROWN TRANSFERWARE DOULTON'S KUDOS PLATTER 13 1/2" FISH & DRAGONFLIES
A 13 1/2" wide X 10 1/2" tall Doulton brown transferware platter that is a pond scene with a fish in the water eyeing a couple of dragonflies. The platter is in excellent condition. No cracks anywhere with just some slightly rough edges, nothing bad. The platter has five separate signatures on the bottom with the boldest in lettering that reads DOULTON'S KUDOS. The others are pretty much stamped into the surface, one reads 12-86, one is an O shape with four dots around it, an actual seal and a smaller square shaped indentation. The piece of early suface tape just identifies the platter as a former owner's"fish platter" It's really in great condition and the scene is wonderful. Offered is a beautiful White Ironstone Platter in an Octagon Gothic Shape. This piece features everted ribs around the outer boarder with a copper lustre single line trim. It was produced by Livesley. Powell& Co. in Hanley, England circa 1851-1866, and retains their impressed mark. This platter is in nice overall condition with one flake on the underside rim(see photos) Some light wear, and a couple of light spots of age coloring. England by Enoch Wood& Sons between 1818-1846. The platter features a resting hunter standing next to his horse and dog while the horse drinks water from a box carried by his servant boy. The background of the platter displays a natural landscape with mountains, foliage, and a lake. The platter also displays four cartouche scenes which depict hunters, and these are surrounded by a floral and geometric border. The platter is oval with a scalloped rim and overall it measures about 15 3/8" by 13 1/8" The back is marked with the pattern name and manufacturer's initials. Striking Antique Ironstone Polychrome Platter & 2 Plates Francis Morley "Zamara"
This auction is for a Striking 3-Piece Grouping of Polychrome Ironstone pieces- a platter and two plates- made by Francis Morley of England in the mid 1800s. They are in the company's striking Zamara pattern. Which is an intricate Victorial Scroll and Floral design in deep blue with hand coloring in green and yellow and red applied under the glaze. This Grouping Displays Wonderfully together. The grouping consists of: A 8-sided platter. 15 1/4 inches long by about 12 inches wide. A 12-sided plate. 9 1/4 inches across. A 12 sides plate. 8 1/4 inches across. These pieces were made by Francis Morley in the mid 1800s. They are in very good condition especially for that age. There are no chips or cracks in any of the pieces. The platter has fine. Even crazing and some discoloration on the face and a small glaze bubble on the face(see last ... morephoto) The larger plate has a small glaze bubble on the face(photo 11) and fine even crazing. The smaller plate is evenly toned throughout and has fine. Even crazing. Individual pieces in this pattern are very hard to come by. Making a grouping like this exceptional. From the estate of a major CT collector comes this pair of ca 1845 John Meir English Staffordshire Wild Rose 14 1/8" X 11 1/4" platter in excellent antique condition with no chips. Cracks or dings. The scene depicts Nuneham Courtenay. Oxfordshire, the seat of the Earl Harcourt, set in grounds laid out by Capability Brown around 1780. Up for bid is a circa 1920's Losol Ware Ormonde Keeling& Co. Burslem England platter. The firm of Keeling& Co produced quality earthenwares from 1886 to 1936 in Burslem. Staffordshire.The platter has a blue and white floral border and measures about 14 1/2" in length and 11" in width. It is in good condition with the exception of some utensil marks and on the back of the platter it has a hairline crack about 1/4" as shown in the pictures. This auction is for a LARGE Ironstone serving platter made by Edward Clarke. Tunstall, England between 1865 and 1877(making this great platter between 137- 149 years old! It measures 21 1/2" x 14 3/4" and weighs 6 pounds 8 ounces! Marked on the back with the Royal Coat of Arms, along with the words"DIEU ET MON DROIT" God and My Right) and"EDWARD CLARK, PORCELAIN, TUNSTALL, OPAQUE" This platter has the oldest Edward Clark English mark and is not a piece that was produced and marked for export to the U.S. as you see with some pieces. This platter is free from chips or damage. It does have crazing throughout. This plate was owned by my mother. She was 89 when she died. I'm not seventy two. It might have been owned by my great grandmother. It's old. Most of the gold edging has worn off. It's scalloped edge also has a raised pattern in it. Lovely!

Large 14 1/2" Transferware Platter, 1800'S Brown Floral, Family Piece
This large oval transferware platter was a part of my mother's large collection of china and glass. The pattern on this piece is a brown floral. You can clearly see tiny pieces of the transfer that have"flowed" with the glaze. This piece is in very good antique condition. My mother had labeled"1800s. Transferware, brown" This piece does have one chip on the underside of the edge. Please see the last three photos for close-up. There are no other chips. Cracks, breaks or repairs. There is no crazing on this piece. There is some light scratching from use. This piece is 14 1/2 inches long by 10 1/2 inches wide approximately. This piece does bear a brown makers mark on the underside. This mark says Sutherland colonial pottery Stoke England. It also has an emblem that I cannot quite make out. This set has a variety of marks which can be or not placed on a particular item. According to my researches they date back to 1929-1930. 1. Impressed WEDGEWOOD mark. This impressed mark remains the usual mark until the adoption of the sans serif version in 1929. The blue underglazed mark" MANUFACTURED FOR 100 St. LONDON F& C OSLER" to 1930. F& C OSLER manufactured crystal glass and china. They worked with many companies. 3. Underglazed ENTURIA ENGLAND Mark from 1930 +. This set has minor sign of used and some manufacturing imperfection. This set has minor sign of use and some manufacturing imperfection otherwise has very white porcelain with beautiful design. This platter has minimal sign of use but ... morehas manufacturing flaws. I show them all: in one place are underglazed send brown dots. One manufacturing flaw pic.5, one tiny, shallaw chip underneath the edge which is not visible from the side and from the front. Antique Mason's Real Ironstone Chinoiserie Platter # 2
Very similar to platter#1. Only that the inner ring is dark blue instead of red as in#1. Despite being almost 200 years old, it's very sound structurally: no cracks, lines or restorations as far as I can see; however(there's usually a"however" the platter has stains from use and a few scratches. Then, again, this doesn't detract from its beauty, and as you can see in the photos, the colors are bright and the gold accents in good condition. 14 7/8" x 12 1/8" Returns are not accepted.

2 large primitive ironstone RHINE platter set staffordshire england turkey plate
set of two large platters with transfer ware design from before the turn of the century. pre 1900. the large platter is marked"rhine" as shown in one photo. it measures 17.5 x 14 inch. there is some crazing in the glaze and two minor knicks probably from the firing process.
