Antique Ironstone Platter - Ashworth & Bros. (Masons) 1862-1890 -Transfer 16x12"
This large and lovely brown and white English ironstone platter was produced by Ashworth& Bros. from 1862-1890. After the firm purchased the famous Masons factory of Staffordshire. Made in the"Empress" pattern, the outer rims and center of the oblong platter are decorated with elegant scrolls and flowers. Each end of the platter has a graceful crest and each corner has a gentle pleat. The platter is substantial. Weighing over 4 pounds. It measures 16 inches long and 12 inches wide. The colors are crisp and vibrant, and there are only minimal signs of wear and age. In 1862. George L. Ashworth purchased the Masons factory in Hanley for his four sons. This auction is for a lovely MASONS large oval serving platter in the"VISTA" pattern. This elegant pattern was made in England and was produced from 1890 until 2000 but is now discontinued. This platter is quite large and measures 13 1/2" by 10 1/2" and has a fluted piecrust edge. This platter is in excellent condition with overall crazing to the backside but otherwise has no staining. Discoloration, marks, chips, cracks or damage. The colors are very bright and vibrant and it really is a lovely piece. The total shipping weight is approximately 4 pounds. This will make an excellent addition to you Masons Vista collection, and I currently have three pieces of this pattern listed for sale. This listing is for a large antique blue transfer. White ironstone, well and tree, footed meat platter circa 1860, by Ashworth, Staffordshire UK. It has the mark that Ashworth used prior to the"MASONS PATENT IRONSTONE ASHWORTH" mark, and after the MORLEY& ASHWORTH mark, which dates the tray to about 1869- 1862. It measures 18.8" L x 15.3" W x 2.5" H overall. The tray sits 3/4" above the table surface on its two feet, and deep well. It is in very good condition since it is from the mid 1800's. The front design is of a Chinese scene. There are no chips. Crazing or repairs on the front. There is a small brown spot on the rim. This auction is for a Masons Vista Turkey Platter with turkeys in the center. The platter is marked on the base as shown in the images. Please note that the white spots on the bottom of the front are from the camera. This beautiful platter measures approx. 19.25 across the middle. 15" wide and 2" high. This beautiful platter is nice and clean. There are no chips. Cracks or repairs. There is some clean crazing, but no staining. The top surface shows very few signs of use even when turned into the light. This is a larger piece and if I can ship for less. I will refund the difference. This pattern is very hard to find. Item: A vintage colourful rectangular shaped Masons ironstone small platter in the Temple pattern. It measures 9.5 by 7 inches. Makers mark on the rear as shown. From around the first half of the 20th Century. Condition: In very good condition without chips cracks or repair. No significant utensil wear. Some light age crazing. Mason's Patent Ironstone Regency Pattern Serving Platter Pattern number 4475 Registry number 821349 Platter is approx. 13 5/8" by 11" Approx. 2 lbs 7 oz weight Very good condition. Very slight signs of use. Three small manufacturing imperfections on the underside where the glaze is not complete. see photo of one) Pattern first registered in 1914. Impressed number 12 and a stamped blue star on underside as well as backstamp. see photos) I can't find a consensus about the date of manufacture online. Backstamp indicates sometime between the 1930's and 1950's.
