Most of the Underleak collection was completed before and during the early years of the Second World war. So most of the collection would have come before 1941. These buttons have been boxed up for 60 to 75 years. They were used and displayed prior to being put away. Please see pictures to determine the condition. Ask questions or ask for more pictures if you want to see an additional views. We have inherited a button collection from Minnesota. We have counted over 70.000 buttons so far. They were started by a woman in 1867, who, as a child, began her first charm string. We understand she was 7 years old when the collection was begun. Her name was Mrs. Anna Underleak. She exhibited her collection at the Minnesota State Fair in 1939. At that time, she had close to 40,000 buttons. She and her daughter determined to have the largest collection in Minnesota, and it appears, they kicked it into full gear in the 1940's because many of the cards of buttons are dated during that decade. We are not sure when Mrs. Underleak died but her daughter died in the early 1970's and our mother purchased the whole collection as part of the daughter's estate. When our mother counted the collection in around 1999-2000, she came up with the total of 83,000 buttons. We have now inherited it, and are beginning to sell it. We are not sure whether it ever was the largest collection in Minnesota. But there are several newspaper articles, with pictures, that show Mrs. Underleak surrounded by her buttons in 1939. She was in the St. Paul Paper and the Pine River Journal. We have no experience with buttons, other than using them, so we are trying to learn about them as quickly as we can. Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. 2 ANTIQUE GEORGE JONES NEOCLASSICAL CARTHAGE STONEWARE PLATTERS c1865 Presented are two nice quality stoneware china serving platters made by the George Jones Co. of England during the mid to late 19th century. Both pieces are stamped on the reverse. Under the glaze, Stone China Stoke on Trent and the George Jones symbol of the letters G and J intersecting. There is also a black ink stamp under the glaze that gives the pattern name: Carthage. The product number 2390 is also marked. This pattern is done in a very neoclassical style. It was probably produced in the 1860s or 1870s. The George Jones Co. has been in business since 1861. This platter has a bright orange/rust colored outer border. Followed by a cream color border. Two sage green bands are on either side of oval ... moredecorations. All of the colors work well together. Both of these platters could be used for a multitude of functions. The overall condition of both platters is quite good. Especially considering the age. There are some surface scratches to the glaze on both, especially the larger one. Most of the painted decoration is in very good condition. Some surface dirt is visible in the photographs of both platters. We have since cleaned most of that off. There are no cracks, no breaks, no repairs, no hairlines, and no other problems of any kind. Both platters have a very good ring. One platter measures 13 inches by 10 3/8 inches. A 13 1/2" wide X 10 1/2" tall Doulton brown transferware platter that is a pond scene with a fish in the water eyeing a couple of dragonflies. The platter is in excellent condition. No cracks anywhere with just some slightly rough edges, nothing bad. The platter has five separate signatures on the bottom with the boldest in lettering that reads DOULTON'S KUDOS. The others are pretty much stamped into the surface, one reads 12-86, one is an O shape with four dots around it, an actual seal and a smaller square shaped indentation. The piece of early suface tape just identifies the platter as a former owner's"fish platter" It's really in great condition and the scene is wonderful. This old dish shows the crazing that occurs with age. But it has no chips or cracks and is otherwise in tact. It appears to have some manufacturing pock marks. There are several markings on the back. It is about 5 1/2" across by 1" deep. It is indeed very old, though they were unable to date this at the Estate Sale. I have not been able to find another like it on eBay. This auction is for a Striking 3-Piece Grouping of Polychrome Ironstone pieces- a platter and two plates- made by Francis Morley of England in the mid 1800s. They are in the company's striking Zamara pattern. Which is an intricate Victorial Scroll and Floral design in deep blue with hand coloring in green and yellow and red applied under the glaze. This Grouping Displays Wonderfully together. The grouping consists of: A 8-sided platter. 15 1/4 inches long by about 12 inches wide. A 12-sided plate. 9 1/4 inches across. A 12 sides plate. 8 1/4 inches across. These pieces were made by Francis Morley in the mid 1800s. They are in very good condition especially for that age. There are no chips or cracks in any of the pieces. The platter has fine. Even crazing and some discoloration on the face and a small glaze bubble on the face(see last ... morephoto) The larger plate has a small glaze bubble on the face(photo 11) and fine even crazing. 2 Delft Blue Porcelain Hand-painted Holland Antique Plates of Rembrandt & Wife
A set of 2 plates produced as collectibles in 1935. One is a self portrait of Rembrandt at the age of 34 and the other is a portrait of Rembrandt's wife Saskia van Uylenburgh. Both portraits were originally painted by Rembrandt and then reproduced by the Artist A. Peteers. The plates are 16 inches round. These plates were purchased in Holland by my grandparents in the 1930s and were passed down to my parents and then to me.

This is a beautiful old porcelain large platter marked Copeland Spode England in their Green Basket pattern with lovely gadroon trim. This rare hexagonal platter is large enough to accommodate a turkey or beef tenderloin for the holidays. It is 17" by 14 1/2" and 2” deep and 2”rim. It has an array of green flower and leaves with a brown basket in the center with an ivory surface. The bottom bears four impressions: Copeland Spode England mark. A stamped impression stating Copeland Spode Imperial, as well as green hand painted numbers and a 19. There are photographs included of all the marks with the exception of the impression. This platter has the Davenport mark. But part has been filed out.why? I have no firm answer, but know that makers' names were scratched out or painted over, sometimes by the decorators. The 11" x 8" platter only has the handpainted pattern number 571. Both platters have light utensil marks to the front. Both have been completely glazed.no ruff underside rims here. This piece is from approximately the 1870's and though it has an old crack that is on both the backside and the front it is still a remarkedly beautiful old piece. Up for sale is this extra large antique oval ironstone pottery platter. It is unmarked and probably English. But I can't say for sure. It measures 20 1/2" long x 13 3/4" wide. It does show some wear on the blue and gold banding and some staining. There is a very small tight crack that is 1" long and is only noticeable due to staining. Holland Pattern Flow Blue Onion, c1900-1915 From a large collection of blue and white patterned English china. These are two large serving platters. Not an exact pair, they are a very close match, one to the other, and were used together by the family who owned them. In addition to having the attractive Blue Onion pattern, each ... moreplate is gracefully embossed around the rim. Very pretty, and it gives lovely dimension to the platters. These servers were made in England by Johnson Bros. famous for their china and earthenware. There are ink stamps on the bottom of each, and also an impressed mark on the back of one, too worn to read, and the artist's numeral. The manufacture stamps on each are clear and easy to read. They call the pattern HOLLAND, and this was the mark used c1900-15. The Flow Blue is slightly more pronounced in one than in the other. 12 1/2" X 9 1/4" X 1 1/8"H. CONDITION REPORT: These platters are in lovely condition. Their color remains vibrant and true. Their only flaws are anticipated wear patterns from normal use ~ minor ones. Antique Mason's Real Ironstone Chinoiserie Platter # 2
Very similar to platter#1. Only that the inner ring is dark blue instead of red as in#1. Despite being almost 200 years old, it's very sound structurally: no cracks, lines or restorations as far as I can see; however(there's usually a"however" the platter has stains from use and a few scratches. Then, again, this doesn't detract from its beauty, and as you can see in the photos, the colors are bright and the gold accents in good condition. 14 7/8" x 12 1/8" Returns are not accepted.
