Beautiful Antique Wedgwood Rectangular Serving Platter in Hague Pattern
Beautiful Antique Wedgwood Rectangular Platter in Hague Pattern. I found this pretty old platter at an estate sale. I just love the rich blues of the windmills. Sail boats and ladies on the shore set on a creamy white back ground. It measures 17 1/2" from the tips of the handles x 7 3/4" wide. The Wedgwood hallmark dates this platter from between 1891 and 1907. If I am reading the impressed letter/number sequence this platter was made in October of 1898. It's difficult to make out and hard to tell what order they are supposed to be in as they are not in a straight line. Either way it is definitely in the 1891-1907 window. Overall this platter is in very good condition. It is chip free. There is some wear through of the glaze across the top were the owner had used a plate hanger to display it. See last pic. As is typical with ... more100+ year old ceramics there is delicate crazing in the glaze. It is also common to have some discoloring. There is also a fine crack from the lower left sailboat to midway up the ladies skirt with some darker discoloration. It does not go to or from any edge of the platter. Brown Transferware Rectangular Platter - Briar Pattern - George Jones -1874-1881
Beautiful Large Brown Transferware Rectangular Platter- Briar Pattern. It is 13" x 17.5" and 1.5" high. The platter was made by the George Jones Company in England. Per the Diamond Mark on the underside: The IV stands for Clay Ware. The D on the bottom stands for September. The 16 stands for the date. The" Sons" was added in 1873- The letter on the right is possibly an"E" a bit hard to read) which would be 1881. Also. On the underside there is an impressed mark of the crescent and their symbol- a feature added in 1874. Therefore, I think that the platter is between 1874 and 1881. The platter is in very good condition for being over 100 years old. There are no chips that I can find. The top has some spotting and some crazing- normal for that age. On the bottom left(photo 2) there is an area about 1" ... morex 0.5" with less glazing than the other areas. On the underneath there are a few tiny'holes' not chips- see last 2 photos. The Platter is sturdy and weighs 5 pounds. It is a Really nice piece. It will be shipped by Priority Mail and insured for its full value.

John Maddock and Sons Royal Vitreous Platter from the late 19 th early 20 th century. Nice large rectangular platter measuring 15” x 10” x 1¼” high. It’s a heavy piece of ironstone weighing just over four pounds. It is in near perfect condition except the gold edge is nearly completely worn off. There are no chips. Cracks or crazing, and there are very few surface scratches considering the age of this platter. My in-law’s, as well as things that my husband& I have collected over the past 40 years. Unfortunately. My house is over-flowing and it is time to clean it out! I am determined ... morenot to dump all of MY stuff in my daughter’s lap! I am trying hard to downsize. It is a daunting task. But it has to be done! Ø I describe all items I sell very honestly and completely. I note any and all imperfections. Flaws, chips, scratches, etc. I include photos of any issues whenever possible. Ø I pack all items I sell very carefully with tissue. Newsprint, bubble wrap and/or Styrofoam wrap as well as packing peanuts. For very fragile items, I use oversized boxes and/or double boxes so that the item can be very well padded. I want you to receive the item in the same condition as when it left my home. Ø For these reasons. I do not accept returns except in extenuating circumstances and completely at my discretion. Ø With the exception of glassware, I generally do not clean any of the items I sell. I prefer to leave that decision up to the buyer, as I am aware that patina can be part of the item’s value. The buyer should be aware however. That my mother smoked as did my husband and I. Lovely large vintage rectangular green transferware platter John Maddock & Sons
I am a bit of a collector. Which is a short step down from a hoarder. Admission is the first step, they say. I had an old china cabinet filled with green transferware. I also have one filled with red transferware and some blue transferware in a box. You get the picture. I have a few pieces of the green transferware remaining which, as a first-stepper, I am putting on Ebay. This wonderful 15" by 11" platter is one of my favorite pieces, for display and use. The green is a vibrant grass green on a creamy white background. There is gold on the edges and the pattern in the center. The gold shows a bit of wear, but it is an old piece, so to be expected. There are a few faint scratches from use, but they do not mar the beauty in any way. It would be a great addition to your collection and a big help getting me to step 2.
