Here's a lovely meat drainer from the Charles Meigh& Son. The successor firm to Charles Meigh. In operation from c1851- 1961, according to Godden. Marked on the back with a mark that includes"C.M. Son" along with the pattern name"Gem" There is also an impressed"IMPROVED STONE CHINA" An impressed mark near that that I can't make out clearly. A pattern"5530" over"P" written mark completes the markings. Approx. 12 3/4 inches by 9 5/8 inches in size. Ready to drain your roast. Foul, or fish- and/or to be hung on the wall for its decorative value. There is one area of damage- a small loss of glaze on the back at the center hole. As seen in the photos. English Staffordshire Ironstone Imari Palette Platter c1850 ~ Charles Meigh Marked Improved Stone China ~ As Found ~ 10 1/2" long x 7 3/4" A rectangular platter transfer printed in soft brown with a pattern of scattered flowers. Hand painted with enamels in an imari palette of cobalt blue, yellow, red, green and turquoise. It has an impressed mark used by Charles Meigh& Sons between 1835-1861. In lovely display condition but display only as it has a 1/2" shallow chip to one corner(bottom left corner seen above) that I have touched in with blue watercolor to make it more presentable. This is a non professional touch up and will wash off if desired. There are two other very thin scrapes to the right edge(seen above) that aren't too bad. Still has a nice colorful display. Charles Meigh Transferware Porcelain Opaque Footed Compote Cake Stand
This is an early Charles Meigh hand enameled footed compote or cheese stand in the'Oleander' pattern. C 1850. This piece was made by Charles Meigh of Hanley. Staffordshire, England. It is impressed with'Porcelain Opaque C.M. along with the enameler's numerals 1283, and a rectangle with Chinese dynasty marks- used occasionally in Meigh, Copeland, and Worcester pieces. This pattern was meant to mimic the Chinese export which was so popular. This compote measures 9 3/4 inches in diameter. And 2 1/4 inches high. The white base has an embossed pattern of leaves and scrolls along the outer rim of the compote and the foot. The top of the piece is hand enameled in vibrant colors. The top has no issues other than mild crazing. The gold around the edge is slightly worn. On the underside. Here are three edge chips and a small hairline.

England. This is a large platter. It measures 17" across and 13-1/2" wide and is 1-3/4" high at the rim edge. The reverse bears impressed marks and the underglaze trademark for Charles Meigh& Son: CM&S for circa 1850 along with the pattern name ITALY in a floral design. The deep center of the platter has a large architectural scene with figures and dogs. The 2-1/2" wide rim has small vignettes with additional architecturals and figures interspersed with floral designs. In excellent condition. This has a good deep tone when struck. No damage. Ironstone Brown Transferware Large Sugar Bowl, Charles Meigh & Sons-Italy 1800's
Look at the great condition of this large early transferware sugar bowl. It is a cream colored ironstone with a brown design. The sugar bowl is 7" tall and 5.5" wide. The scene is called Italy and features a couple at a fountain with buildings and trees in the background. It was manufactured by Charles Meigh and Sons(C. M. S. in the 1850's. The glaze is shiny and there is only a small amount of crazing. There is a small chip on the underside of the top lip(see photo) The lid looks like the finial top has been broken off and re-glued.
