Antique Limoges P L France Hand Painted Roses Artist Signed Sherratt’s Lemon Tray Description ~ this lovely lemon tray is a beautifully executed depiction of yellow roses over a soft pastel background and earthy green rose leaves with the rim and handle trimmed in gold. The Limoges blank is from La Porcelaine Limousine and was decorated in Sherratt’s art studio. Sherratt’s History ~ Sherratt was a famous china painting artist and teacher who had a decorating studio in the Washington. D.C. area for a short period during the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. He was a master of his trade and a sought after painter of porcelain. Particularly for his works decorating china with lovely floral paintings. Marks ~ one back stamp is a green underglaze whiteware production stamp from La Porcelaine Limousine that was used from 1905 through 1920. I have for you this evening a nice example of German made porcelain made by a little known company called Three Crowns Germany. This piece is made of nice grade porcelain and is cast into a classic deep well scalloped rim design with gold gilt rim and cutout handles. This piece is decorated with a transfer and then has been heavily hand touched with raised enamels by the artist to give the subject matter greater depth and beauty. The dark salmon colored background make this a real eye pleaser. This will look stunning no matter were you decide to display it. Item dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. 1920 Ant. Limoges Fr. Hand Painted Artist Signed Tray by Wm Guerin Co; Perfect
This is a wonderful antique tray with the Limoges France mark as well as Wm. Guerin& Co. The Guerin mark on the underside is their 3rd. Which dates back to 1920(photo 5) It means that the Guerin Co decorated this Limoges china at their studio. The tray is artist signed by M.T. Menenditz as seen in photo number 10. It is exceptionally well made, and presents in excellent condition. There are no signs of wear, despite its great age. The shape can be described as oval, or kidney shaped, with lovely gold trimmed ruffled edges all the way around. There is one handle on one side of the tray, which is done in a heavy metallic gold. It is a pretty shade of pink with a light green center, and a floral design of large pink roses. The tray measures 9 in wide by 12 and 3/4 in long, and the weight is just about 2 pounds. Description: This wonderful faience tray was produced at the Obernai factory in Sarreguemines. Ca. 1903-10, in what is now part of France. It is marked with the Obernai mark typical of this period. This tray has a very well executed color transfer of a village festival. The scene is signed by artist Henri Loux(1875-1907) who worked at Obernai from 1903-06. Loux, who only lived 32 years, was highly acclaimed in his native Alsace region. The city of Sarreguemines. Perched along the French-German border, began producing faience wares about 1790, and by the last quarter of the 19th Century had become well-known throughout Europe- its well executed decorative tiles are found just about everywhere on the continent. As a result of the Franco-Prussian War, Sarreguemines found itself inside Germany, and did not return to France until the end of World ... moreWar I. I am also listing another large Sarreguemines tray with a rare black and white scene from an 18th Century French painting in the Rococo style by Nicolas Lancret. The colors are in soft soothing pastels that brighten and reflect depending on the lighting. Shown in photos are the different effects created by simply placing this tray over yellow and white cloths. Greens, peach, yellows and white are the primary colors painted into a spray of floral in bloom and decorated with gold scroll work, this is wonderfully painted flowers in elegant simplicity. Decorative Art ~ this vanity tray is hand painted by an amateur artist that has signed the back. Porcelain painting was a popular pastime for many women at the turn of the last century. This would be from manufacturing and the artist simply painted over it. Measurement ~ 11& ¼” T& V Limoges ~ Tressemann& Vogt was one of many factories doing business in Limoges. France at the turn of the last century. They produced many pieces of white ware that were decorated elsewhere and decorated porcelain as well Marks ~ this beautiful vanity tray bares the T& V factory stamp that was used from 1892– 1907. The back also displays the artist signature. Limoges Porcelain in the second half of the 19th century: The world exhibitions stimulated competition and development for the factory. That is why. As of 1851, the objects were marked, so that they could be recognized by the thousands of visitors of the exhibitions. The expertise and technical knowledge of the factories were undisputable. This is also the era when the factories aimed at developing the name Blanc de Limoges, in order to endorse the quality of the porcelain clay and the perfection of the production technique. Hi There! Up for consideration is this super pretty hand painted French Limoges Tray. Made by the William Guerin factory. It is a split center. Gold handle on a lobed fine porcelain tray.Is Artist signed on the reverse"LSF"and has the early W. Guerin makers stamp. Measures: 10.5" long.Almost 7.25" wide and stands 2.75" with handle. There are unfortunately, two chips which I noted in pictures#5&6. This piece is part of a large family estate and has been in storage for over 50 years. It dates from the mid to late 1800's. Limoges Hand Painted Dresser Tray. Whiteware was produced by Gerard. Dufraisseix and Morel in Limoges, France between 1882 and 1890. It was hand painted and signed by the artist, Jean Lamont and dated 1892, during the time when china painting was very popular among American artists, both professional and non-professional. Large amounts of European china was imported to the United States for this kind of painting. Measures 9-1/8" in diameter and 10-1/8" from handle to handle. Excellent condition- No chips. Pretty Hand-Painted W.G.& Co. Limoges Kidney-shaped Serving Tray~Artist Signed
This is another piece of William Guerin& Co. Limoges porcelain from the state of an avid collector. The kidney shape has embossing along the edges. Which will show some minor wear on the painted surface. The design is a beautiful hand-painted pattern of tiny white and pale blue flowers set on a blue background. The mostly pale yellow surface has a pink blush at one side.just so pretty! It's artist signed M.P. Ridge at one side and marked on the back with a green backstamp for W.G. Co. Limoges France. Only the upturned edges are glazed at the back.the flat suface that has the Limoges mark is unglazed. Age is anywhere between 1890 and 1930. Condition is great. With minor wear, as stated, to parts of the rim and a glaze pop an inch or so above the artist's mark, but no chips, cracks or apologies. And no disappointments!
