There are a few tiny flecks here and there along the rim that may be kiln stilt marks and one small fleck from the inside of the bowl. Some expected discoloration and surface crazing and I have shown some photos as examples. John Boot. ... moreAn agricultural worker, moved to Nottingham, England, and opened a small herbalist store in 1849, from which he prepared and sold herbal remedies. His business soon proved popular, especially with the working poor of Nottingham's new industries, who could not afford the services of a doctor. After John's death in 1860, his son, Jesse took sole control and his talent for business was soon evident. He expanded the range of products to include proprietary medicines and household necessities. He adopted a strategy of buying stock in bulk and selling his goods much cheaper than his competitors. Advertising under the slogan"Health for a Shilling" In 1884, Jesse's first shops opened outside the city, in Lincoln and Sheffield. Jesse's policy of superior goods at competitive prices delivered with expert care, meant that the Boots name quickly became synonymous with quality. Value and service. This is a gorgeous large antique platter. It measures 17" wide and 12" across.a fabulous large platter. The design shows butterflies flying near the sprig of wheat. It is a creamy color with brown decoration. The finish is still smooth and shiny and it is in excellent condition. The only fault that I can find with this platter is two small flea bite size chips on the one edge on the long side as shown in one picture. Plus it does have a little crazing but that is to be expected in a platter this old. It is not at all objectionable. The piece is an antique.it's not from Macy's china department. The bottom of this platter has two main markings. The one says Royal Premium Summer Time IV. The other is the T& R Boote mark. For sale is a very old large heavy white ironstone serving platter made by T& R Boote of North Staffordshire. England. It has an embossed mark that reads T& R Boote Syderham.Shipe the old diamond-shaped portion of this mark says the platter was made on September 3, 1853: IV means Ceramics; Y means 1853; D means September; the right-hand 2 means the 2nd day of the month; the lower 2 means the parcel number; Rd means Registered. IV Y D Rd 2 2 The platter is in very good condition for its age: No chips. Cracks, or breaks, but I do see utensil marks, several light stains, scuff marks on the underside bottom rim, and some pits in the glaze. ANTIQUE 19th CENTURY T & R Boote England * SHAPOO * BLACK TRANSFERWARE PLATTER
This is a lovely. Old stoneware platter manufactured in England by T& R Boote in the Shapoo pattern in the early to mid 1800's based on the early hallmark. It is not in perfect condition. It does have two very small chips which can be seen in photos#3& 4. Neither is very noticeable- 4 is actually on the underside of the platter. There are some dots on the finish which were a part of the original finish. It is still a lovely piece which would be a wonderful addition to a collection of old platters, and would be a fabulous decorative piece. It measures 10 1/2" wide x 13 3/4" long. This is a brown transferware meat platter by T& R Boote. It was made in England in the 1885-86. The pattern name is Tournay. It is marked on the back in brown and has a registry number. It also has an impressed X and something else I could not read. The platter is 14 1/2" long and 10 1/2" wide. It is 1 1/4" deep. It has shiny glaze and is heavy. It has some very mild utensil marks on the front. There is a small chip on the underside rim and a fleabite chip on the rim edge(pictured) The plate stand is not included. Aesthetic Movement RARE Platter T & R Boote England Yosemite! Transferware HUGE
This auction is for an absolutely MAGNIFICENT ENORMOUS aesthetic movement brown transferware T&R Boote England platter. The bottom of the platter has swirling leaves and flowers in almost a crazy quilt design with a geometric narrow border separating that part of the platter from the scenic portion. There is a large tree with cherry blossoms in the foreground and a town and river in the background. There are no chips. Cracks or repairs. This is an extremely rare platter in this pattern. 16 1/4" from top to bottom and 11 3/4" from side to side! There are no chips, cracks or repairs.
