The clay ware platter also has a registered date code diamond that dates the piece to September 29, 1881. The pattern is called Ivery Bower, and it is a brown pattern depicting three birds perching on branches. The platter measures 19 1/2" long by 15 1/2" wide, and it is in excellent condition for its age. Brown Transferwarer Ironstone Platter Enoch Wood & Sons Wreath Flowers c1840 17"
This auction is for a Very Old and Lovely Antique Brown Transferware Ironstone Earthenware Platter made by Enoch Wood& Sons of Burslem. England. It is in the company's Beautiful and Very Hard to Find Wreath and Flowers pattern. The pattern is of a Gothic Church Ruins and Mountains with a Floral and Wreath Border design. The platter measures about 16 3/4 inches long and 14 1/4 inches wide. The piece has a floral spray backstamp with the pattern name. Wreaths& Flowers, and the letters EW&S for Enoch Wood& Sons. Enoch Wood& Sons operated between 1818 and 1846. So this piece is at least 167 years old. It is in very good condition. Especially for that age. There are no chips on the piece. There is a very tight hairline that is tough to spot at about 9 o'clock on the platter. It measures about 1 1/2 inches long(see last ... morephoto) The piece has toning and crazing throughout. Which is expected of ironstone of this era. It only adds to the character and authenticity of the piece and doesn't detract from the images. There are three small glaze pops/fleabites on the edge(see photo 11) The piece has scalloped edges and a deep well and is very thick and heavy. Please check my feedback and buy with confidence. It was made in Turnstall England in the 1800's. The pattern name is Philear. The rim features flowers. Ships, and birds. It is marked on the back in brown. The platter is 13" long and 9 1/4" wide. Large ANTIQUE Brownfield& Sons Brown Woodsman Platter 19” + Bowel& Plate 19” A very old earthy looking Brownfield& Sons Platter. Says Woodsman and is numbered. Has other marks on back but they are hard for my old eyes to see. Probably from around the 1870s-80s Plus a larger shallow bowl and a Plate. The Bowl measures about 9& 1/2” across, Plate 9& 1/2” also. Numbered on bottom 14058 Would be great for the upcoming holidays. Thanksgiving! Though I am sure many would only use these for display because of their age. Condition: 12 photos total. No chips or cracks but plenty of crazing. Also some darker spots mostly on back. I point at the larger spots in a few photos. On one spot where I point on the back of the plate there is a tiny rough spot. I think maybe there was a small bubble in the glaze. Or maybe it is just a pucker ... morein the crazing that feels rough. Ironstone Brown Transferware Large Sugar Bowl, Charles Meigh & Sons-Italy 1800's
Look at the great condition of this large early transferware sugar bowl. It is a cream colored ironstone with a brown design. The sugar bowl is 7" tall and 5.5" wide. The scene is called Italy and features a couple at a fountain with buildings and trees in the background. It was manufactured by Charles Meigh and Sons(C. M. S. in the 1850's. The glaze is shiny and there is only a small amount of crazing. There is a small chip on the underside of the top lip(see photo) The lid looks like the finial top has been broken off and re-glued.
