Beautiful JW Pankhurst Blue Transferware Ironstone Platter "Lucerne" mid-1800s
This auction is for a Lovely& Old Ironstone Blue Transferware Platter made by J.W. Pankhurst& Co. of Hanley. England. It is in the company's beautiful"Lucerne" Pattern. The pattern is of a mountain lake scene with castles and large manors and trees at the center and a thick Victorian Scroll and Floral border with cartouches of mansions. The platter is in very good condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or repairs or stains. There isn't even crazing. The images are clear and vivid. JW Parkhurst operated in England from 1850 until 1883. It has a backstamp with the pattern name as well as an impressed Parkhurst mark"JWP&Co. The platter measures 13 1/2 by 10 1/4 inches. Antique Victorian Staffordshire Transferware Platter'Cathedral Scene' 1840's A Very Large& Deep Platter DESCRIPTION A very pretty English Staffordshire transferware pattern. This is an antique from circa 1840. The pattern is one that was made by several different pottery makers in Staffordshire at the time. Alcocks and Whitehaven among them. We don't know the name of the pattern, some folks refer to it as'GEM' but we're not sure that is the correct pattern name. Lovers of Blue and White do have the same pattern listed on their website with that as the name, so perhaps it is correct. There is no backstamp on this platter. No matter what the name. It is a striking pattern with handsome Chinese design elements both in the wide outer rim with it's flowering nut border and feather plumes and the inner border ... moreof elaborate lattice work encircling a towering cathedral scene. Just a fabulous early 19th century English Staffordshire transfer design. This is a beautiful platter and very large and deep. It has a wide flat rim and is in very good condition. Nice antique Blue and White round transferware platter. It is from Steventon& Sons. England, themed"Elephant" is 13 1/4" diameter. The mark indicates it is circa 1923-1936. I had a Spode dealer that saw this platter and he said this is a Spode company. He also said that it is a"first run" and that is why the center design is somewhat fuzzy or blurry. It has some crazing, a tiny glaze pop on top, but no chips. The color is a medium blue. Free shipping within the US.

Offered is this gorgeous. Deep Blue Transferware Platter in the California pattern. This piece is an octagon shape, has a central scene, and the outer rim is trimmed with floral and scenic reserves. It was produced by Wedgwood in Burslem, England, and registered in April of 1849. It retains his mark with the pattern name and registration diamond. This piece has a tight hairline going inward on the lower left corner(see photos) There are no chips. But some light wear and a couple of glaze pops from production. This old English transferware platter measures 17 3/4 inches long by 14 3/4 inches wide. It was produced by George Phillips in Longport between the years 1834- 1848. There are no damages of any kind and it just has the expected surface crazing and discoloration in the glaze which is normal for a piece of this age. It is about 175 years old. It is in the blue Park Scenery pattern.

Antique Blue and White Asian Pheasant Transferware Platter
This is a lovely blue and White Asian Pheasant Staffordshire Transferware platter. It measures 13 1/2" X 11" It is the traditional floral with the bird and butterfly. There is some crazing around the scalloped edges. But no nicks, chips or hairline cracks. There are a couple of small oxidation spots, smaller than an eraser on the end of a pencil. I think you can see if you zoom in on the whole platter. There are no markings on its back. I believe it is from around 1870. The color is fabulous and for its age it is in great shape! It has been part of my collection for many years, but I am downsizing.

Beautiful blue transferware platter in wonderful condition for its age. The platter is large. Measuring 15" x 12" has tons of character. The color is. An ice blue. With off white background, has lots of crazing, mostly apparent on the back of the platter. Is stamped Rhine on the back of the platter. No chips on the plate, but a small hairline crack appears on the back of the plate as shown, and shows through ever so slightly on the front side of the platter. Doesn't appear to be any big deal and adds to the character. No cracks or chipping on the rim, a few pits on the underside, again adding to the charm. Will package carefully and insure.

Flintshire Wales ~ Sold as Found ~ Looks Great on display! 17" long x 13 3/8" wide A large Staffordshire rectangular platter printed in dark blue transferware depicting"Gyrn. Flintshire Wales, from the"Select Views" series, with a wide border of fruit and flowers, printed title and maker's name on the reverse, R. Hall, Tunstall, England, 1822-1836. Broken and repaired in 1954. According to the label left on the back; you can see two large staples at either end which were over painted in white to hide them. The crack goes down the middle on both sides and it was possbily broken in half. If it was it was a clean brake and fit back together very nicely without much pottery loss. You really have to look for the crack on the face, on display, the only obvious place it shows it above the cathedral in the sky. The face has some high point wear and scratches seen when tilted in the right light but still has its original pearlware glossy glaze and the color is wonderful. T he old label says this must not be used or washed in water; I wiped off the face with a wet sponge and nothing came off but I left the old tape and label in place. The scene depicts Nuneham Courtenay. Oxfordshire, the seat of the Earl Harcourt, set in grounds laid out by Capability Brown around 1780. English Historical Staffordshire Adams Dark Blue Transferware 11" Platter c1830 ~ Grapevine& Fruit Border Farm Scenes ~ William Adams& Sons ~ Sold As Found ~ 11 1/2" long x almost 10" wide A wavy border. Staffordshire platter printed in dark blue in a series that is mostly scenes of farm life and horses within a lush fruit and flower border. The center here shows a young man on horseback tending sheep. This pattern in illustrated in Snyder's'Romantic Staffordshire Ceramics' on page 30. It has an impressed mark with an eagle surrounded by'ADAMS WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE. Sold strictly in as found condition; the top border has a long crack which goes all the way through and should be stablilized with glue. There is quite a bit of surface wear on the face. This large blue and white transfer ware platter is a treasure measuring 17 1/2" x 13" The mark on the back I believe reads"circassia" and"S& JB" and probably dates to the 1860- 1880's. It is in remarkable condition and has NO chips. Cracks or hairlines. You can see in the pictures that there is some discoloration related to it's age but most of it is on the back side. A good soaking in peroxide should help immensely. This platter is thick and heavy. I pack extremely well so bid with ease.

Light Blue Transferware Platter ~ CHINESE pattern by J-R & Co. 1800's
This is a lovely. Old transferware meat platter in the CHINESE pattern. The scene features traditional Chinese buildings, landscape, and clothing. The edges are decorated with a chinese pattern alternating with rows of flowers. The platter is 14 1/2" long by 11 1/2" wide. It sits on a heavy and tall foot. It is in the light blue transferware color. It is produced by a company called J-R& Company but I am not sure the full name or date of manufacture. There are no cracks but some discoloration along the edges and a spot above the buildings. There is one very small glaze pop that looks recent. Please see the pictures and email with any questions. Antique Flow Blue Transferware Ironstone Rectangle Platter, Bowl-Marked-AS IS
This is an antique blue transferware platter or bowl in good visual. Displayable condition, but there are flaws. There is a long hairline on one side, and a couple shorter ones on the other, but they are nearly undetectable from the top. There is also crazing, which has darkened mostly on the bottom. There is an impressed mark, but can't make it out. Possibly a Minton cipher? There are no chips. It is approx. 12 1/4in. by 9 3/4in. Nice item to add to your collection or existing set. Antique Blue Staffordshire Transferware Platter 11"
Antique Staffordshire transferware blue& white platter from some time around the mid 19th century. This is a particularly lovely but smallish piece. It measures 11" by 8.75" and on the back the pattern is listed as Dacca( or something close to it. While it displays beautifully. There are some condition issues: 1) some standard knife marks 2) a lot of crazing& a fair amount of discoloration on the back side and 3) professional chip restorations(3) on the front along the rim. England during the early to mid 1800s. The platter has a floral sheet pattern with scrolling vines, leaves, and various flowers. The rim is slightly scalloped and it has a solid blue band around the outside. The base is not marked anywhere that I see. The platter is rectangular in form.
