Cauldon England four sided rococo style tray roses and gold gilt 10.5" 1890's
I have for you this evening a lovely piece of antique porcelain made in England by Cauldon in the late 19th century. This beautiful piece is made of a high grade and translucent porcelain and has been cast into an unusual four sided shape with scalloped edges. This piece is entirely hand painted and gilded by masters of the trade. The upper rim of the piece is trimmed in garlands of roses and other beautifully painted flowers with beaded centers. The center is graced with a pink rose and a large trumpet style flower. The upper rim is gilt in gold and the lower rim that frames the center is as well. There is also rococo style flourishes of gold framing the edges that are painted in the most stunning deep red color. This entire piece is amazing and would make a great addition to your cabinet or adorning any space filled with high quality antiques. ... moreThis piece is a collectors dream. Item dimensions and dating: All measurments are approximate. This piece measures 10.5" by 8.5" and stands 1.5" tall. This piece dates from the late 19th century by the marks and design elements. Condition report: This piece is in antique excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or crazing. The flowers are as fresh and vibrant as the day they were first painted and the gold gilt appears to be almost nearly fully intact with only very minor wear to the rim. England. The stamp on the back dates this plate to between 1930 and 1940 and the name of this pattern is Bentick. It measures 11" in diameter. Some odd pits and bumps common to the manufacture of ceramics at that time. There is an old paper label on the back that I think has been stuck there since the 1950s.
