The box features a hand-painted design with multi-colors ... moreand comes with a lid. It has a 1/4" blue maple leaf mark on the hand painted backstamp. The box measures 3" in diameter and 2" tall. It was painted with a pretty good fine hand as the detail is lovely. It is fine porcelain and quite light as it weighs just over 3 ounces. It does have moriage dots in a ribbon design around the bottom piece at the top and just tiny dots near the bottom of the lid. It has a satin finish instead of glossy. It is an estate sale find.

Antique Porcelain Hand Painted Dresser Vanity Tray Dish O&EG Royal Austria
The O&EG Royal mark of Oscar& Edgar Gutherz- Austria-dates this lovely hand painted porcelain oblong dresser tray from 1889 to 1918. The expertly designed sprays of delicate blue and white flowers with foliage are arranged on a background of white and added hints of blue. Cream and a very light suggestion of rosey beige at top for contrast. There is no fading of the colors. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. I see 3-4 tiny pin size specks, obviously done during the production of the piece and in no way detracting from the beauty of this approximately 100 yr. old collectible. A little"misplaced" blue paint outside rim on large spray side(photo#7) The tray measures 10 1/8" X 6 7/8" with a 5/8" rim. Antique Stamped Porcelain D&C. Limoges,Vanity Tray with Cherub 1879- 1900 NOTE: Please note I listed this a few weeks ago. However I was mistaken, thinking it was handpainted. I have since found out this was a stamped piece, so I am relisting it now. This beautiful vanity tray belonged to my late mother-in-law who would be 110 years old if she were alive today. The tray dates between 1879 and 1900. Which is when the D&C(Delinieres& Cie) of Limoges, France, was producing fine porcelain wares. It has been safely stored in my home for many. Many decades, and it is in absolutely excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing or fading. The tray measures 11" x 8" The scalloped edge is done in gold leaf. On the back of the tray it simply indicates D& C. France. I've researched a great deal of D&C porcelain ... morebut have not found anything similar to this rare piece. The AKCD(KLINGENBERG DWENGER) name and logo are clearly marked on the bottom. A. Klingenberg operated a porcelain factory and decorating studio in Limoges beginning in the 1880s until 1910. His company merged with Charles Dwenger's decorating studio in the 1890s. These two marks were both used by the company. M. Furuya antique Porcelain Vanity Tray hand-painted Japan early 20th Century
The story of Masajiro Furuya around the turn of the 19th& 20th Century is impressive. Complex, and in the end tragic. Information about this pioneer in the Asian import business along the west coast of the U.S. is readily available online, and certainly a fascinating and worthy read. Up for auction here is a very fine piece of hand-painted porcelain. Manufactured in Yokohama, Japan ~ which I can only speculate was manufactured sometime between 1900 and the late-1920s, according to what cursory information I have gleaned about M. Furuya and his business empire. The subtlety of color in this piece. Transitioning between various pastels of blue& green in an atmospheric blush of rosy pink, and the delicacy, yet purposefulness, with which it was painted is sublime ~ with a gold gilt rim in very fine condition, and tiny*dots* of gold gilt ... moredefining the interior of each little flower. The tray measures approx. 11 1/4" 28.5 cm] in length x 5 3/8" 13.65 cm] at its widest point across ~ and 1 1/4" 3.2 cm] to 1 1/2" 3.8 cm] in varying height.
