This game platter and 5 plate set is in very nice condition and it makes a stunning display. The pheasant platter measures approx. 12 1/2 x 16 1/2 inches. The 5 plates measure 8 1/2 inch dia. There are NO. Chips, cracks, crazing or discoloration. There is light surface wear to all pieces which is mostly on the gold decorative trim. The border leans more dark Pink/Red than true Red. There may be some light areas of touch up on some pieces, although, I can't really tell for sure if it is original or not. All 6 pieces are marked on the bottom. Pictured in the Pottery& Whiteware Book by Wilby on page 12 as Crescent China. Earthenware plate with a colorful center decoration of a Golden Pheasant with long out-stretched tail. The background is a forest scent of grasses, birch trees and a lake. Around the outside is a pale pink boarder. The shape of the platter is oval, the rim is 12-sided, and the well is deep for holding gravy. This is in Nice Clean Condition with No chips, cracks or crazing. There just a few thin scratches from gentle use. No carving marks. The pink outer decoration has a few small circles in the paint from the manufacture. Vintage Limoges CHARLES FIELD HAVILAND/GERARD. DUFFRAISSEIX, AND MOREL Marked Game Bird Platter and 9 plates. This absolutely gorgeous set came to us from a recent estate sale and is the pinnacle of refined serving sets. The large platter is just over 19" X 11" and features a hand-painted game cock eyeing an unfortunate grasshopper- the colors are fantastic and the sculpted edges and handles are in superb shape. There is only the slightest hint of wear in the gold trim. The lovely plates are just over 8 1/2" and are hand painted with four different scenes: three have two plates each and the goose is a single plate. This can be seen in the photos. Each piece bears the CFM/GDM Mark 2 and 3 respectively; this dates them to ca. 1892 to 1900. This is a stunning set! This whole set is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks ... moreor repairs! Offered at auction from a Florida Estate. Is an Beautifully HAND PAINTED LARGE CHINA PORCELAIN GAME PLATTER. The Platter features a Highly Detailed Fully Hand Painted Bird standing in a country field with trees. I am not certain, but the bird resembles a Sandpiper. This is a somewhat unusual feature to find on a larger Game PLATTER. What is exceptional to find is that this is ALL HAND Painted! Most Often found are game plates Platters or sets with transfers or partial hand painted features. The Platter MEASURES 18 3/4" x 11 1/4" It as an impressively Deep Sized Well at 2 1/2" This piece is VERY HEAVY! It is Unmarked. But almost certainly was Made in Germany between 1880-1900. It possibly could have been bought in the US as a Blank, and then HAND PAINTED over here. From 1895-1915 it was very common for ladies groups in Society ... moreto have gatherings where they would do China Painting on blank pieces of china they purchased from the store. Again, if this was a product from a China Painting Ladies Group, it is a very Unusual piece to find. More often those groups painted Tea Sets, Plates and Dresser Trays. The Sponge Painting on it is Very Nice and representative of great Folk Art techniques of the day. I cannot find an Artist Signature. CONDITION: NEAR MINT CONDITION! There is One Very Small White Enamel Marking on One of the Back Side Edges. It looks to be 70+ years ago that the stabilizing enamel was put there to prevent a Small Nick from enlarging. This is NOT Noticeable at all on the Front and barely noticeable on the Back. Slight Wear to the Gold Rim on the Outer Edge which is to be expected given its 110+ years of age. No Chips. I am offering for bid this Vintage Antique Porcelain China PLATTER. It showing a lovely border of Game Birds or Pheasants and measures approx. 11 1/2 in. x 7 3/4 in. The Platter is quite old and does show wear consistent with age and use. The Game Birds and inside Design are bright and vivid but the Gold Trim on the Rim- both outside edge and middle edge show wear( see photo) No nicks or chips and I don't see any utensil scratches.
