Large Staffordshire Pearlware ~ FLOWERS & BUTTERFLYS ~Well Tree Platter c1820 NR
English Staffordshire Pearlware Dark- Medium Blue Transferware Well& Tree Platter c1820 ~ Large Vase of Flowers with Bird and Butterflies ~ Unknown Maker ~ 19" long x 14 1/2" wide ~ about 2 3/4" deep ~ weighs almost 7 pounds This may be a known pattern but I don't know it. The scrolling border with cross shape diaper pattern and flowers reminds me of Spode patterns but this is unmarked, so I can't be sure. It has the same medium to dark blue color of early Spode I've had it could be any number of early Staffordshire potters who produced these types lush floral transferware. This is a large, stunning platter that is gorgeous on display but also useful at a party. It's in excellent condition with a few very minor issues that are mentioned for accuracy. In excellent condition; the face is very clean and glossy. ... moreThere are one or two small glaze pops or pin size holes I've pointed arrows to in pics below and one pale, short hairline. The back has some all over crazing but nothing that needs attention; the foot rims and spot where the belly rests have wear. There are no chips. Cracks or restoration and all the surfaces are smooth. Below; this very pale short hairline is 1/2" long and it very shallow; it is mentioned for accuracy. So is the tiny glaze pop in the border. Above; another tiny glaze pop. Below; beside crazing to the glaze there is only some wear on the foot rims and the spot where it rests on the table. No damage. Thanks for looking. No Reserve! Please see the other English/ Historical Staffordshire/ porcelain/ pottery/ soft paste/ pearlware/ creamware I have listed.
