The center cartouches display hummingbird in one and a partridge( in another. This tureen has some wear to the decals around the spoon holder and on some of the corners and does have a line at the spoon cut out as photographed. Such a very very rare piece in overall great vintage condition. The marks on the bottom of the plate include the stamping of RIDGWAYS and DEVONSHIRE(the pattern name) as well as Rd. No. 2302 and a printed 688. The trademark quiver and bow are also printed. The pattern was first introduced in 1884. The design shows the Victorian love of nature and the exotic. The Japanesque and Aesthetic Movement influences include the asymmetric design, the decorative geometric border of sunflower motifs as well as central bird motifs. The inner background consists of an overall pattern of tiny repeated floral design. The outer border consists of stylized, geometricized flowers and leaves. Striking Antique Ironstone Polychrome Platter & 2 Plates Francis Morley "Zamara"
This auction is for a Striking 3-Piece Grouping of Polychrome Ironstone pieces- a platter and two plates- made by Francis Morley of England in the mid 1800s. They are in the company's striking Zamara pattern. Which is an intricate Victorial Scroll and Floral design in deep blue with hand coloring in green and yellow and red applied under the glaze. This Grouping Displays Wonderfully together. The grouping consists of: A 8-sided platter. 15 1/4 inches long by about 12 inches wide. A 12-sided plate. 9 1/4 inches across. A 12 sides plate. 8 1/4 inches across. These pieces were made by Francis Morley in the mid 1800s. They are in very good condition especially for that age. There are no chips or cracks in any of the pieces. The platter has fine. Even crazing and some discoloration on the face and a small glaze bubble on the face(see last ... morephoto) The larger plate has a small glaze bubble on the face(photo 11) and fine even crazing. The smaller plate is evenly toned throughout and has fine. Even crazing. Individual pieces in this pattern are very hard to come by. Making a grouping like this exceptional. Superb Large Antique Ironstone Polychrome Platter Peonies Marked England 17x14"
This auction is for a Striking& Large Antique Ironstone Polychrome Platter that was made in England in the 1800s or early 1900s. It measures an impressive 17 1/4 inches by 14 inches. It is Beautifully decorated with flowers. Including Peonies, that are Hand Colored under glaze. It has a scalloped edge that is embossed. The border design has floral groups separated by lattice work. The platter is highly marked on the back but I am not certain of its exact manufacturer. It was made in England. Likely in the late 1800s or early 1900s by one of the potteries in the Staffordshire or Burslem region of Britain. The platter has several marks. Including two impressed marks(a 10 over a 05 and a four triangle in a round pattern mark) and hand written numbers in red(I think P9 2812 and the number 7 below it) and a green backstamp(I can't decipher ... morethe manufacturer) and a mark England. The platter is in very good condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks. There are some rub marks on the edge and the underside. Rare Polychrome Brown Transfer Ship Platter
Offered is a wonderful brown polychrome platter with a maritime motif. There is no makers mark. It is definitely very old. It measures 14 1/2" by 12" and a deep well, 1 1/2" It is in terrific condition, no cracks or chips. There is a lot of crazing which is slightly darker in areas(especially on the upper left side) which can be seen in the pictures. Antique 1882 Copeland Polychrome Transferware Serving Platter India Tree Bengal
Up for auction here is an antique Copeland serving tray in the India Tree or Bengal pattern. The rounded platter has a dark blue/black transfer printed design of oriental style tree branches in bloom with a butterfly that are underglaze painted in shades of pink and greens. The underside shows the impressed Copeland over crown mark which indicates the material is white earthenware. There is an impressed D over 82 indicating this serving plate was made in December of 1882. It also has handpainted numbers which would have been applied by the person who executed the transfer and color on this fine dining table service piece. This is an awesome very large turkey or meat platter. The decoration has a folk-art style cow in a barnyard. The edges are polychrome fruits. With deep blue accents. The back is unmarked, but I suspect it is American-made. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. It has just a few very light utensil marks, and is very shiny. Marked T F& Co as mark shows. It is an English pottery or china piece possibly made by Fell, Forester, Ford, or Furnival. All used this mark at one time around the mid-1800s. A beautiful platter in outstanding condition that is most likely over 150 yrs. old. No chips or cracks. Marked“Floral” on the back, it offers a very outstanding combination of colors(Polychrome) in a design of flower using reds, greens, blues and browns. Few tiny light brown marks especially on edges and back that were caused by tiny breaks in glaze. Tried to show some of these in photos. Some rough areas from use along with lots of utensil marks but no crazing to be seen. 13 ½” long and 10 ½” wide. The rim sits 1 ¼” above surface and it weighs in at near 3 lbs. Very fine antique Staffordshire pottery platter in the pattern called"Japan Basket" dating to circa 1830.This is an interesting version where the basket holds a trelise. In the years after Miles Mason patented his sturdy ironstone decorated in Japanese inspired designs. Many Staffordshire firms copied him, using similar marks but without the word"Patent" This is a fine early piece, decorated in transfer, then hand colored in enamels. A beautiful antique platter in a purple transferware with polychrome paint in the MEDICI pattern by Mellor. Venables& Co. The size is just shy of 16" by about 12 1/8" There are no chips, cracks or repairs. It does have crazing which would be expected and some small spots of discoloration. Typical signs of wear or use. It is marked with the MEDICI pattern cartouche, registry mark and an impressed whiteware mark which I believe says ironstone. This auction is for Lovely Ironstone Polychrome Platter made by J. Wedgwood of England in the mid 1800s. It is in the company's Beautiful and hard to find Tyrol pattern. Which is a purple or lavender transferware European mountain scene with urns, fences, palaces and flowers. The flowers are hand-colored under the glaze in blue, red, yellow and green. The platter has 8 sides and measures 15 1/2 inches long and 12 inches wide. It Displays Wonderfully. It is in Very Good condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or damage to the plate. I has some utensil marks and one small brown area on the face(see last photo) It has fine. Even crazing as expected from ironstone of this era.
