Canted back and curved profile, rams horns scroll arms supported by tapered fluted legs. This settee is completely caned, notice how small the octagon cane which is tightly weaved and distinctive to its age. Original muted gilt which is very favorable patina revealing some of the red bole. There is a wooden board that was built into the seating area for durability. This sweet antique settee was recently brought in to my shop in Pennsylvania. It is an eye popping double take kind of vintage furniture. Miniature settee measures only approx 27" tall and 30" long and was intended for a small child(too large for dolls I think) The wood is a chippy shelac of some sort of light wood. Each corner has a swirled carving lea ding to open carvings separating back from the arms. The shaped hand rest offer incising and more burling. A roun ded seat rail is supported by ring turne d leg s. Rosette C scroll foliage crest continuing with scallop shape rounded profiles and so proportion with great lines. Original vintage crackle paint with dark greenish gilt on the motifs. Comfortable sofa that is upholstered below the arms. With a plump one piece loose cushion with nice deep seating. Low back that merges fluidly into the arms. Antique LOVESEAT 1880s Eastlake NEWLY RESTORED and UPHOLSTERED SOFA SETTEE HISTORY: The 1994 earthquake destroyed all our furniture. Much of which was antiques collected over the years. After retiring to Florida, we looked to replace some items. We found this love seat and a chair which we are also listing stored in a barn and loved the lines. We then located a retired gentleman who had many years experience in restoring antique furniture. He spent a couple of months totally restoring the wood. Then he referred us to a local upholstering company who rebuilt the seat and back and covered it with this beige velvet. Everything under the velvet is totally new as only the frame existed originally. We chose beige as the other furniture in our living room had bright colors and designs. We dressed this loveseat up with fancy pillows to match or coordinate ... morewith the other bright colors in the room. DESCRIPTION: The gentleman who restored this loveseat said that it was from the 1880s and named EASTLAKE. We went online and looked at Eastlake furniture from the 1880s and found pieces very similar to this. MEASUREMENTS ARE: Floor to highest point in middle of back 34 1/2 inches; Widest part from outside arm ends 36 inches; Arm length 21 1/2 inches from back frame to end; and seat is 21 x 33 1/2. Floor to top of padded seat is approximately 14 1/2 inches. This is very low; however. This can easily be made higher with casters. VALUATION: We research similar items for sale and try to price anything we list competitively and usually below lowest comparable. We located same category items from just under three hundred dollars which needed to be upholstered up to several thousand dollars. As we are serious about selling this beautiful loveseat to move to a smaller place. We decide to offer it for sale for $695.00 which is about what we paid to have it restored and upholstered. Here we have for offer a good Victorian mahogany Chesterfield style mahogany three seater settee dating to the second half of the 19th century. This good sized sofa has a well padded back with scrolled arms over a sprung seat being raised on mahogany turned legs with later castors. Condition wise the back and arms are fine being well stuffed and padded. The seat is comfortable but little soft in places although the springs have not gone and just need a little tightening and padding. I lean toward Sheraton because the style matches that most closely, and the wood does not look like Mahogany and Sheraton furniture was frequently done in Satinwood. We are selling a Victorian Settee- I'm not sure how old it is exactly but I'd guess that it's from the mid to late 1800's. I purchased it from an antique store a few years ago and they didn't have any information about it. It's a pretty teal color- the back is the same as the front(the flash from the camera makes it look a little lighter but it's not) It is nicely carved and the upholstery is in very good condition- no stains or rips. I am not sure if the upholstery is original or not. The sofa measures approximately 64" long. 25" wide and the seat sits at 16.
