Welcome to my auction for our Chaise longue which we have no room for. Was re-covered approx 5 years ago and still looks very good. Length is 2000mm. Height is 810mm and width is 660mm. Comes with a rectangular cushion as well made with the same material. The wood is generally in good order but expect little nicks and cracks as it is approx 140 years old at a guess? None of the springs are broken and still has the origional stuffing. No woodworm or funny smells! I think the best one you will find at the moment on ebay. Here we have for auction my gorgeous. Rare and original Napoleon 111 chaise longue, dating from around 1860. We bought a house in the Charente Maritime a few years ago and it was in the old stone garage and had been there some time. This is a reluctant sale but a very exciting project for someone who can restore and reupholster it. These do not come on the market very often. It is stunning example and once restored will be a valueable and beautiful antique. The chaise itself is in a very solid. Strong condition. The back rest is in excellent condition and only needs minor upholstery restoration. The seat will need to be stripped back and started from scratch. Very long and heavy piece with phenomenal festoon carvings elaborately decorating the frame. This was recently acquired from an Estate in San Francisco where almost everything was of the same caliber and had been in the house for a long time. Exceptional piece of French chic furniture with very old fabric. The large pad is very heavy and seems to be made using feathers. Quite a lot of original paint is still present on this recliner. This French Louis XVI style chaise longue exhibits all typical frame embellishments of the period, the piece probably being crafted during the last years of the 19th century. The surface is a delightful old gray with hints of dark green and old oxidization under touches of a later dusty teal pigment. The handholds and arm supports are particularly well defined, each with deep and finely carved acanthus motifs against the twisted rope carved molding of the frame.
