It is in good condition, with no holes or tears, but the knap of the velvet is worn almost ... moreoff in some areas. I am unsure of the exact age or origins of the sofa, but I do know that it dates to the late 1960s. It is finished in a pale golden yellow velvet that is almost a shimmery beige and has a classic tufted design that is coming back into style. The sofa does have a few small stains on it, as well as some staining from general use over the years. It has obviously been very well cared for. It does not include the throw pillows shown in the photo. It is an extra-long sofa, and measures 26” tall at the armrest, 32” tall, 22” deep at the seat, 14” high at the seat, 35” deep total, and is 116” long.

There is one button missing on the front of the seat. It needs to be re-set back down. Along with one other button cover missing from the armrest. See pictures. There are a few wear spots around the sofa. Mostly on the seat cushion. See pictures. There is a light mark on the bottom part of the back of the sofa. See picture. There is some dust/ dirt in the holes where the buttons are. Ive gotten most of it out. But you need a small brush or something similar to get it all out. Overall. The fabric has been replaced along the way with an antique beige that is all buttoned and pleated. It must have been done in the last 10 years or so as it is in lovely condition. The sofa is all tight and sturdy. The overall size is 68 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 48 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 28 inches deep, 38 inches high to the crest, 23 inches high to the arms and 16 inches high to the seat. It is a great looking sofa with a great patina on the wood frame.

It has new fabric which cost about 500 to put on. the back is tufted. it has great form and beauty. the front of the sofa is 42 inches at the widest part of the outside of the feet. it is 47 inches wide at the top at the widest portion of the part of the back that flares out. it is 32 inches tall at the tallest point and 26.5 inches tall in the middle. the seat is app. 17 inches deep. it sits 15 inches from the floor. it is very cozy and comfortable. it is in great antique condition. there are a few minor veneer chips, but no loose veneers. the finish is wonderful. i just cleaned it with liquid gold so it may look a bit shinny. i started to take pictures in my house, but it was dark where i had it, so i moved ... moreit outside for better lighting. it is solid and sturdy. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. ps. i am starting it for a lot less than i have in it. i did not realize how much it was going to cost to recover it.

Oak and tufted velvet fainting sofa built around 1890 Eastlake Co.
I have up for bid an Oak and tufted velvet fainting sofa. It was built around 1890. I believe, by the Charles Eastlake Company(you can tell by the Eastlake straight lines carved in the oak) with a heart carved in the top of the back. The back is removable and the two arms have 6 positions that they will crank down or up for comfort. This sofa was professionally recovered. The sofa also has carved feet. In the first picture the back is 43” tall. 62” wide and the seat is 27” deep. It is very comfortable. I noticed in the heart in the back there is a line on the fabric that I never noticed before but it doesn’t appear to be a flaw in the material. I just want to point everything out. This is a rare, beautiful sofa that will look great in your home. We have never seen one like this one before. Details This gorgeous antique Victorian sofa is NOT a reproduction. I had the sofa professionally reupholstered in 1999 by the only upholsterer I use. Art Craft Upholstery. The sofa's blue fabric is a high end quality Moire. This quality Moire cannot be found in your typical fabric stores. The fabric was selected out of an upholstery book that only professional designers and upholsterers carry. To re-upholster the sofa. The cost of the fabric and labor was $1749 total( $1650 plus 6% sales tax) The labor charge was a bit high because tufting costs extra. All professional upholsterers charge a premium for tufting. If the winning bidder uses my buy it now option. I will include two matching professionally made pillows both having the same blue moire fabric as on the sofa. This gorgeous original Victorian sofa originated from somewhere in Europe. But most likely England or France. From family discussions, it was said that my great grandmother had it when she lived in England and France in the early 1900s. I do not know if she received the sofa from her mother, or if she purchased it new or used. Regardless, it dates the piece to no newer than 1910. After my great grandmother passed away it then belonged to her daughter, who was my grandmother(my mother's mother) My mom received the sofa sometime after my mother married in 1952. I can remember the sofa was in my mom's home since I was 5 years old, and I am 55 years old this year(OUCH! In 1998, my mother decided she didn't want the piece any longer because she wanted a new green leather sofa and recliners to use in its place. Momma loved her vivacious blue. Exquisitely carved rosewood Victorian sofa. She loved her antiques and she wanted her things to be lively and vibrant and memorable. The sofa sat in the"parlor" as momma was a proper southern girl with a bit of wild streak) Note the upholstery; she chose this blue-not-quite-damask like fabric and spent a small fortune on it so it would show off the gorgeous carvings of roses and be a conversation piece. Momma liked attention. She was a very young 85-year old full of whimsy, curiosity, and a lot of sass. The measurements are approximately 74 1/2" at its longest, the feet are 68 3/4" The greatest depth of the couch is 37" The height of the sofa at its tallest is 43 1/2" the sides are closer to 40 3/4" tall. This LARGE Victorian sofa is ALL ORIGINAL and dates back to the late 1800's(or VERY early 1900's) It is VERY UNUSUAL and a TRUE WORK OF ART. I highly doubt you will find anything like it as our family has collected French and Victorian antiques for as long as I can remember and I haven't seen anything close to it. This very special piece originally came from a French Estate in Europe. It is NOT a reproduction- this is the REAL THING. The workmanship and attention to detail is incredible. I cannot say the sofa is in Mint condition. But it is in EXCELLENT condition considering it is over ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD. The wood is a deep walnut tone and ORNATELY carved with beautiful details on each hump and center crest. There are also carved roses ... morein the leg portions and carving at the bottom of the seat. The legs are curved in true French Victorian style and are attached to tiny wheels. The wood is in perfect condition with no missing or repaired pieces. The upholstery is AUTHENTIC and ORIGINAL to the piece. The pattern and color is a SAGE GREEN(Celery Green) DAMASK. The back portion of the piece is PHENOMENAL- it is completely TUFTED with BUTTON CENTERS giving the piece a most ELEGANT look. The springs in the seat cushion are still tight and hold weight well. This piece was displayed in our sitting room in Florida for years and only used as an accent piece. The only flaw that stands out is some faint damage- ONLY ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE UPHOLSTERY. It appears that rust like colored stains have emerged(on the back of the left hump area toward the ground above the gimp trim) But it doesn't really show when displayed face forward. IT MAY CLEAN UP WITH UPHOLSTERY CLEANER but it probably would be best reupholstered. There is also a slight puncture in the upper portion of the back.
