Offered for s ale is a Walnut and Burl Victorian Settee/ Sofa circa 1870. A beautifully carved f ramed center section is the focal of th is lovely sofa. The top of the frame or cr est rail f e atures a large round medallion of burl walnut. Flanked on each si de by burl panel s. Each corner has a swirled carving lea ding to open carvings separating back from the arms. The shaped hand rest offer incising and more burling. A roun ded seat rail is supported by ring turne d leg s. There is a repai r to the lower carvings between the arms a nd center(not really noticeable, unless upon close in s pection) These appe ar to be very solid and stu rdy and not an issue. Incised carvings, fancy carved crest at the center, carved draped scrolls, ring turned front legs and tapered back legs with casters intact on all four feet. This sofa/ settee measures 44 3/4 inches in height from the floor to the top of the carved crest at the back. A total length of 69 inches, seat width of 56 inches, seat depth of 20 inches and seat height of 18 inches and this settee/ sofa weighs approximately 85 lbs. We are pleased to be offering today a gorgeous four piece Victorian burl walnut parlor set that consists of a gorgeous burl walnut panel ... morecarved loveseat and three matching side chairs of burl walnut carved design. The fabric has been done over somewhere along the line in an antique crush velour pale green on the loveseat and two of the side chairs. On the other chair is a pretty fancy brocade raised antique green fabric. Overall the set is in very nice condition. Someone paid a lot of money to have this set all reupholstered. The wood frame is all great. The burl walnut is all good on all the pieces and the set dates from the 1880s. The size of the love seat is 59 inches across the arms, from the back to the front is 23 inches deep, the height to the top of the carved crest is 41 inches high, the height to the arm is 24 inches high and the height to the seat is approximately 16 inches high. The sofa itself is in really nice tight condition. It features fluted legs, incise carvings, raised panel with burl walnut accent trim and is simply stunning. The back of the sofa has also been reupholstered so that it does not have to go up against a wall and can be left in the open if desired. The three side chairs are all the same size. Lovely carved details on the shoulders with round bolster arms featuring a pierced carved medallion on the front of the arms, with incised carvings and pyramid medallions on the seat-rail and legs.The new gold velvet fabric offers a neutral palette that would compliment any color scheme in your decor.This sofa is in excellent antique condition with the frame being solid and tight with fresh new fabric. WHAT YOU ARE BUYING/BIDDING ON Antique Walnut Burl Sofa#12519JS DESCRIPTION Here is a beautifully carved walnut burl-wood settee. Features a magnificent camel-back and floral accents throughout. The Upholstery is a creme color with blue red and green stripes. If you look closely you can see a white floral pattern over the color. The casters are original. An exquisite addition to any parlor or sitting area. CONDITION Age related wear. There are a few seems in the walnut that have slight separation. Very normal for a piece of this age. Also. If you look at the last picture you can see what appears to be a crack in the back leg. This is more so a settling flaw from the knot expanding over the years.
