This is an superb love seat made in England circa 1880. The gilt work is all original and I would say its mahogany underneath. It sits on turned legs with turned finials to the back. This auction is for a really pretty antique victorian love seat/settee. I think the wood is walnut. The decoration across the top wood looks like nuts or fruit and flowers of some kind that is carved. The velvet material is a very pale reddish cranberry. The pictures are very true to the color. The back is tufted. The wood frame is sturdy. It measures about 59 inches long from the widest part of the wood frame on top. It stands about 34 inches tall to the top of the fruit. I know she did the current upholstery on it(I have the left over material also) There are 4 matching/coordinating chairs that I will list in separate listings. There is lots of carving on all. Appears to be dark walnut but not sure. Some pieces have wooden miniature rollers on the legs. This is for local pickup in the Birmingham. Al area. This is a rare Salesman's sample Victorian loveseat which was used to show customers before purchasing the real thing. It is in really nice condition with original upholstery. The upholstery shows a little wear with no rips or tears. As you can see in the pictures the condition is very good. The wood has scrolling on the top and bottom front. It looks like walnut. One of the rear legs may have been replaced but. Can't be sure. The detail on this little piece is amazing.
