The fabric has been replaced along the way with an antique beige that is all buttoned and pleated. It must have been done in the last 10 years or so as it is in lovely condition. The sofa is all tight and sturdy. The overall size is 68 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 48 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 28 inches deep, 38 inches high to the crest, 23 inches high to the arms and 16 inches high to the seat. It is a great looking sofa with a great patina on the wood frame.

This fantastic sofa does have an old repair to one end which appears to be very sturdy and secure and one rosette at the left end of the sofa has some inlay loss. Thank goodness the repair is there or by today's standards it would have been in the dump and we would have lost this wonderful piece of art~just my opinion. It is 82" long and ... more39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around the front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. The upholstery is not original, re-done at some point in time but it is cheerful& perfectly servicable with no holes, tears or odors. The upholstery could be easily recovered in you choose. This fainting couch came from Klemme. Iowa. My mom got it from someone in our town and upholstered it in the 1970's. The fainting couch was moved to Arizona in 1990 and I am now selling items from my parents estate. The fabric is a light cream color with a faint leafy pattern. Comes with three matching pillows. The back extends about 3/4 of the way down. The front support for the head rest offer a lovely leaf and scroll carving. Resting on nicely turned legs, this is a very sturdy usable and comfortable lounge. The soft green velvet fabric is in excellent condition with no rips or holes, you may want to give it a gentle cleaning. There is a repair to the back~I have shown this in photo 5 it is solid and appears to have been done some time ago. Victorian Antique Dolly Fainting Couch/Chaise Lounge or Salesman Sample
Hello. Today I am offering up for bids this really neat Victorian style"Fainting Couch or Chase Lounge" It is doll size with wooden legs and frame and a stuffed green cloth top. I purchased this at an auction about 12 years ago. The auctioneer thought it could have been a salesman sample and stated that at the time of the sale. It also could have been used for a store display. You be the judge. It weighs over 6 pounds. It is 23 inches long. 9 inches wide and at its tallest it is 9 inches. The green painted feet have some paint warn and flaked off, giving it a true early distressed look. The green stuffed covering does not looked damaged but will need to be cleaned. There is a round stain about the size of a golf ball on top in the center.
