This tops a three paneled back separated by an open carved scolloped design. The padded arms have a wonderfully carved panel underneath. The scroll shaped walnut arm supports also with incised carvings on the inside and outside lead to beautifully turned legs. The measurements are 38 inches tall. 53 inches long, 26 inches deep, and 19 inches from seat to floor. The weight is about 35 lbs. The large arm chair offers the same wonderful features as the settee. The measurements are 38 inches high, 25 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 17 inches from seat to floor. The weight is about 20 lbs. The side chair measures 35 inches tall, 21 inches wide, 21 inches deep and 19 inches from seat to floor. The weight is approximately 12 lbs. Circa 1880-90's features an upholstered settee/love seat measuring 46"w x 40.5"h and a pair of matching upholstered chairs, each 19"w x 37.5"h. w/ original soft green velveteen fabric. Though probably slightly faded. The upholstery is in very good condition& pleasing to the eye. The framework on all is cherry wood w/incised decoration. Each has original brass casters. Antique Karpen laminated Quarter Sawn Oak 3 pc.parlor set-Museum quality
I am offering this beautiful three piece antique karpen parlor set that is considered"Museum Quality" This circa 1875 set has very nice laminated oak backs. The red settee couch and green arm chairs have nicely carved claw feet and the front of all three pieces have finely detailed carved panels. There is also nice carving where the arms attach to the backs and carving down both sides of the backs of each of the three pieces. They have fabric that was put on the seats and backs approx. around 75 to 80 years ago. The springs and fabric on all three pieces are perfect and extremely comfortable to sit on. there are no rips, tears or repairs on any portion of the chairs or the couch. The wood on all three pieces is clean and has excellent patina. The only defect that is on any of these three pieces is a bruising on the lower panel of ... morethe Settee couch that is shown in photo 12. The sofa and chairs are 51 tall at the crest and the depth of the seats of the chairs and the couch is 28 inches. The chairs measure. 37-1/2" from arm to arm. The head sides measure 34" from tip to tip and the seat width is 24" The Couch is approximately 48" wide and 28" deep. I cannot emphasize enough that the function and beauty of this set is not compromised in any way. It is very sturdy and solid. For sale here is a MASSIVE WINGED GRIFFIN 3 PIECE PARLOR SET IN AS FOUND CONDITION. DUE TO THE SIZE OF THIS IT MUST BE PICKED UP AT MY LOCATION IN HAGERSTOWN MD 21742. I CAN NOT PACK OR SHIP THIS. I DO KNOW 2 POSSIBLE SHIPPERS IF INTERESTED. The griffins are a plaster material- the rest is a maple wood stained mahogany color. THIS SET NEEDS RESTORED. Upholstery is torn in places- springs hanging out/ ect. The plaster griffin heads on the rocker have damage and have been filled in at some point with clay or plaster- see last two pictures. This could be better fixed by making a mold of a good face off the chair and then cut into place or just discard the rocker and have a two piece set. This 3 pc parlor set is completely original down to the wood finish and black leather.This set includes a Setee. An Arm chair, and a Rocking armchair It features pin cushion backs, heavily carved flying griffins on each arm. This set in in impeccable condition, no split wood,etc. Appears to be no restoration, but completely original. Circa 1880-1890. Some wood shrinkage on the rocker chair arms. No damages to this set. Very nice lines to this set. Settee has damage on one arm and will need to be repaired. Please see photos as I have tried to take photos showing what will need to be repaired. The two chairs are in good shade but when recovered could use a good overall tightening up. Fabrics can be used as is but does show wear.
