Being offered for sale is this beautiful Victorian Rosewood Triple Back Button& Tufted Sofa circa 1860.This 19th century sofa has all the charm and elegance one expects from the Victorian era and is executed in beautiful rich rosewood. This sofa features beautiful pierced carved crests on the triple back.Half covered arms with scroll carved arm supports that join to the long serpentine seat-rail with applied carvings at the center, demi-cabriole styled front legs and tapered back legs with triple back boasting of button& tufted fabric. This fine sofa measures 38 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the center at the back. Total length arm to arm of 78 inches, with a seat width of 66 inches, seat depth front to back of 22 inches and seat height of 17 inches and this sofa weighs approximately 100 lbs. This sofa has older ... moregold velvet covering and it does show some wear and some spots on the seating area. The covering on the back has a small tear on one side about 3 inches long. There are some old veneer repairs to a couple of areas on the crest-rail which I have shown in the pictures. These are done nicely in my opinion and not noticeable unless close inspection. There is a small piece of the bottom edge trim missing on the seat rail bottom on the right side. This sofa has a elegant presence. Victorian Walnut Triple Back Tufted Oval Medallion Back Settee CIRCA 1890
Up for sale is an exquisite gem from the late 1800's! This piece is absolutely stunning with its walnut wood carved detailing around the back and center oval"medallion" This settee is sure to make your home look very elegant and will add so much character and charm to any room of choice. This piece seems to have an"attitude" as it is guaranteed to stand out from anything else! The upholstery work is pure perfection! It is a somewhat"rough" silky texture. From pictures and from a distance it looks very very pale pink. But if you look closely at one of the pictures listed that had the flash on, you will notice that it is actually a sheen cream color. The upholstery is very much A+++ quality(not cheap,and hard to find) it's thick and very durable(not that you'd be rough housing with this piece) but that ... moreis something one should always look out for! As far as any defects to the wood work. There are no major ones, maybe a few light scuffs here or there but nothing major. When you sit on the settee you sort of"sink" slightly, but that is common in these older pieces. The whole piece is very sturdy. Although the back slightly moves if you physically take your hand and push it back and forth, nothing to be alarmed about though! Keep in mind that it is over 120 years old, I think anyone's back at that age will have a little wear! Haha! Sofa is open carved across crest and around oval medallion backs. It also has floral carving. A shell crest, open arms, cabriole legs and white porcelain castors. 1840-1860s Victorian Triple Crest Laminated Rosewood Sofa
1840-1860s Antique Victorian sofa. Ornately carved laminated rosewood frame with triple crest and tufted back. Sofa was re-upholstered some 30 years ago in a light blue silk brocade that now has some soils(see pic#9) which could be cleaned. Ribbing is loose. Two front legs have upside down violins carved on them! Also, one leg on the right back has an old repair(see pic#10) Back of sofa is in fine condition as is the seat. Dimensions: 81" in length by 40" tall(2 end crests) by 34" tall(middle crest) Seat is 19" wide and distance from floor to seat is 16. Owner just wants to see it go to a good home. $750 OBO. It has a yellow upholstery that is most likely original. Some stains and wear but useable. Great original finish. couch is tight and sturdy.
