It is 82" long and ... more39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around the front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. It is 82" long and ... more39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around the front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. The loose upholstered cushion remains in good condition with just light staining and snags, as such giving it a certain vintage appeal that is attractive to some and unacceptable to others. Measurements: 79" long x 20 7/8" wide x 32 1/8" high to taller side; 21" high to top of the cushion Condition Report: Small stains and snags to upholstery. Oxidized scratches to the frame. As well as other scattered abrasions and dings throughout as expected with any antique. Light chipping to right leg; rear back leg has half of the ball foot chipped off. Old crack in back leg. The arms are a bit loose when lifted upward- they are very sturdy and strong and do not require restoration when it isn't being moved, but to lift upward from either side shows wiggle. We would recommend quickly re-gluing the joints eventually, but not worrisome as is; viewed from the side, you can see a slight crookedness to the arms, but this is not noticeable when looking at the sofa more generally. LIGHTING VERY FINE CONTINENTAL REGENCY GILDED RECAMIER OR CHAISE-LOUNGE Probably English c. 1810-30 Item# 1404IJG06-W This is a remarkable and very fine Regency recamier of unusually robust form and quality. The strong Greco-Roman influence is evident in the bold curls and classical shaping. The left side raises sharply in a sleigh-form. The arm cresting outward in a nearly perfect cyma form. The back panel has a soft flow to it, the shape almost an exact elongation of the shape of the left arm, again in a perfect cyma that curls inward in a tight swirl. It was crafted such that the client could choose which side was outward facing. The back panel removable with a thick screw, lifting from a pair of deep tenons and a single dowel to change ... morethe orientation of the sofa. This ability was adjusted at some point, where a talented craftsman filled the tenons along the front edge, at which point it was regilded. The right arm is low and gives the profile a sense of completion. The tight swirl of intricate carving and execution, the boldness of it lending a certain power to the form. The whole rests over short sabre legs of a distinct Grecian form, each terminating in original brass casters. The underside is very simple, the very thick beech secondaries of the frame locked in position with a fore-aft brace dovetailed into the frame and presumably added corner blocks. A rare and delightful form. It was crafted by an artisan intimately familiar with classical lines, the result being an incredibly striking and atypical form. It is incredibly strong and a very heavy build. For anyone with a Classical or Empire bend to their decor and architecture, this unusually fine piece will be an incredible compliment. Antique Naperville Khoeler Fainting Couch This is a beautiful Antique Fainting Couch. The body is Probably Quarter sawn golden Oak. That is in remarkably good condition for the age of the piece. There are some barely noticeable cracks. Which are shown. The Upholstery is not original. And needs to be redone. It should be really beautiful once done in a suitable fabric. I have included a photo of the undermesh. I did find a photo of an original piece and it appeared to have a dark brown leather upholstery. I have included a photo of the tag under the piece which states that it was ordered and sent to JK Paul. Pacific Grove Ca. It also bears writing in the upper left hand corner that says San Fran. and 7/25. I am not sure if this refers to a date when this was resold. Since the history of the Manufacturing company dates from 1898. So it is possible that either Mr Paul lived there. Or it was later sold to a family in Knob Hill. I think I put this paper away for safekeeping and do not remember where I put it. I have researched the history of this piece. It was built by the Naperville Lounge company. Naperville Illinois. Manufacturer history: Peter Kroehler was born in 1872 the son of immigrant parents. In 1890. He attended the Commercial Academy of North-Western College(now North Central College) in Naperville, Illinois. His professor, James Nichols, and two other men founded the Naperville Lounge Factory in 1893 and hired Peter Kroehler as a clerk at $26 a month. Both the company and Kroehler were off to a good start and by 1896 he entered a partnership with Nichols, Fred Long and John Kraushar, the original investors. FRENCH PROVINCIAL CARVED BEECHWOOD ANTIQUE DAYBED Paris. C. 1880 Stamped"Léon ROGER" en verso Item# 409CTI20 This is a very attractive French Provincial daybed from the last quarter of the 19th century. Carved in the Louis XV taste. Though clearly with a Provincial appeal, the surfaces are highly active and wonderfully carved with floral motives highlighting all major spaces. The frame is deeply molded, this particularly bold in the swirling acanthus hand holds flanking the daybed. Constructed with permanence throughout, all joinery is tenon-mortise, most of these joints being pegged tenons. The daybed is crafted to be easily broken down into small pieces, the two sides, front and back rails all coming easily apart with four bolts and two screws. The form rests over short cabriole legs with flowers carved along the knees and ... moreterminating in scrolled French toes. The back leg is stamped with a single brand of Léon ROGER, Paris. An absolutely gorgeous piece with a warm and well developed surface patina. This is a gorgeous piece for any home decorated in the French Country taste. Sturdy and strong, this was crafted to last through the generations and will be cherished well beyond our lifetimes if cared for properly. Hello. Today I am offering up for bids this really neat Victorian style"Fainting Couch or Chase Lounge" It is doll size with wooden legs and frame and a stuffed green cloth top. I purchased this at an auction about 12 years ago. The auctioneer thought it could have been a salesman sample and stated that at the time of the sale. It also could have been used for a store display. You be the judge. It weighs over 6 pounds. It is 23 inches long. 9 inches wide and at its tallest it is 9 inches. The green painted feet have some paint warn and flaked off, giving it a true early distressed look. The green stuffed covering does not looked damaged but will need to be cleaned. There is a round stain about the size of a golf ball on top in the center. This is a civil war era couch. Both sides of couch can go down to be a fainting couch. I have never seen anther couch like it before. I don't believe it has been re-stained or refinished from my experience in looking at antiques. I paid $800.00 for it in an Antique store in Ocean Beach about 10 years ago. This piece does not go in my mid-century modern home and I need to get rid of it. This piece needs some repairs: One inch clean rip on rear lower side. See picture. The padding. Made of straw and horse hair, see pictures, needs to be patched up and reupholstered. You can see the ripped padding in one of the pictures(In the picture under the couch, you can see I placed a blanket in there to catch some of the straw from leaking. Regency Parcel Gilt Antique Recamier Chaise Lounge, Faux Rosewood Surface c.1825
REGENCY PARCEL GILT AND FAUX ROSEWOOD PAINTED ANTIQUE RECAMIER CHAISE LOUNGE Probably England. First Quarter of the 19th Century Stamped along interior edge of frame. Though this is illegible to us Item# 412XZA05Q A fine work from the first quarter of the nineteenth century. This antique Regency Period recamier probably originates from England. The frame is crafted of solid beech, but the visible surfaces are very handsomely treated with hand painting and staining to create the effect of rosewood. Gilded panels and circles create a distinct contrast in the surface, particularly over the very bold gilded reeding of the bulbous legs. The form is heavily influenced by the Greco-Roman furniture and forms. It is crafted to last. The open underside of the frame revealing simple and untouched craftsmanship with two stretchers sinking into the sides ... moreof the frame with double-tenons. An illegibly stamp remains next to one of these tenons, a circular maker's mark that can be seen in higher resolution in the image below(Additional Resources" Once you have had this covered in a more appropriate fabric. It will be an absolutely gorgeous piece of unique but comfortable form. Measurements: app. 78" W x 27" D x 31 1/2" H; 20" H to top of cushion. 12 7/8" H to top of frame Condition Report: Probably regilded panels. As it is rather full and vibrant. Original faux-rosewood painting under later shellac and wax. Surface is worn with many gouges, abrasions and other minor blemishes as expected. Very sturdy and strong- note that one leg has a crack in the top of the cap, though this is very stable and does not require attention at this time. One castor broken and missing a screw, all castors entirely original. Upholstery is stained- the"more stained" side is shown in the photos, the other side with lesser discolorations and staining. Selling with no reserve is a truly rare and wonderful example of an American Rocco carved and laminated rosewood meridienne attributed to John Henry Belter. The meridienne measures around 42" wide. 27 1/2" deep, 38" tall and about 17" to the top of the upholstered seat. The rosewood frame is tight, sturdy and in very good condition. This piece is in much better condition than other Belter pieces I have seen. The upholstery is old but not original. I see where the upholstery is worn and the edging has been re-tacked.
