The fabric has been replaced along the way with an antique beige that is all buttoned and pleated. It must have been done in the last 10 years or so as it is in lovely condition. The sofa is all tight and sturdy. The overall size is 68 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 48 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 28 inches deep, 38 inches high to the crest, 23 inches high to the arms and 16 inches high to the seat. It is a great looking sofa with a great patina on the wood frame.

Each end also offers curved crest rails. All three sections have beautifully tufted backs. Open padded arms lead to wonderfully carved hand rest with with incised carving and large drop finials. A shaped seat rail is supported by four turned legs and original brass capped casters. This fantastic sofa does have an old repair to one end which appears to be very sturdy and secure and one rosette at the left end of the sofa has some inlay loss. Thank goodness the repair is there or by today's standards it would have been in the dump and we would have lost this wonderful piece of art~just my opinion. The vintage cream colored fabric does show some ware on one corner and arm and needs a gentle cleaning. Please look closely and enlarge the pictures as all the detail cannot be shown in 12. Measurements: 45 inches high 68 inches long 33 inches deep 18 floor to seat weight 35 lbs. The matching chair features the same beautifully carved crest drop finials and turned legs. I was told a family member that the sofa was reupholstered in the early 1970's to its current white vinyl upholstery. At that time their interior design theme went to black and white. Sofa features. One seat cushion and 4 back cushions. Special feature is sofa has a long hinge that spans the back of the sofa. Upon close inspection this hinged back allows the back rest to be reclined to a 45 degree angle for extra comfort(see photos) Perhaps this intentional feature is to allow more room for use as a day bed. Condition Mention’s: Sofa shows extremely well with only minor wear to the white vinyl upholstery. The underside of the seat cushion is photographed with a few marks. And a few tiny back edge scratches to upholstery(see up close photos) Webbing still fine for continued use. The Solid Hardwood Walnut wood detail only shows some minor wear to the legs that can easily be touched up with light sanding and furniture scratch cover polish. antique victorian pierced carved walnut sofa possibly belter mint condition
for auction is a very high quality pierced carved walnut sofa. it is a large one being 73 inches wide at the widest point. 43 inches tall, 16 inches to the top of the sitting surface, with a sitting surface 22 inches deep. again a very high quality, very well carved piece. the roses are wonderful as well as the grapes and other carved details. my pictures as usual are very poor quality and do not show the detail of the carvings, but they are quite well done. i am not sure of the maker, possibly belter, but there were many great cabinet makers in the 1850's to 1880's. the sofa is museum quality, near mint condition. no damages i can see or find, very solid and sturdy. it belonged to an elderly lady who was moving in with her daughter. i bought it nearly 15 years ago. she said the sofa had always been in their family, stating that it ... morebelonged to her grandparents and that it was old when she was a child. i expect it was made circa 1860 or 70. it has the original brass casters and rolls like a wagon. the elderly woman had it recovered about 5 years before i bought it, so the fabric is about 20 years old but is actually new. the fabric is perfect as far as i can tell. also, this sofa is the most comfortable antique sofa i have ever sat upon. i have never been fond of the fabric and have thought of having it recovered, but since i have 15 or 20 sofas, i really did not find it necessary to do that and i have just lived with the fabric that is on it. i hope someone sees it that likes this fabric. the wood work need cleaned and polished as i have done nothing with it since i bought it and i will be glad to do that for the new owner if they would like for me to do so. i stuck it in front of the fireplace to take pictures, but will have to move it back into a room that is just stuffed full of things anyway, a beautiful piece, but i don't need it. i paid 2500 for it when i bought it, but i am starting it at 2000. it may be picked up at my home or shpped at the buyer's expense. i expect shipping anywhere is th

1860 Antique Victorian Walnut High Back Sofa(Colorado Pick Up) Excellent condition. No issues. I purchased this at a consignment store in Boulder. Colorado in 1986. The store said the man who consigned it told them it was passed down in his family and was made in Vienna, Austria and dated back to 1860. He claimed his wife never liked it and because of this it was stored in an unused bedroom. After pressure from his wife he decided to sell it in hopes that someone would buy it who would appreciate it. It has been lovingly taken care of by me since 1986 and I hate to sell it, but we just don't have the room for it anymore. This is a fabulous Victorian 1920's carved and burled walnut sofa. Amazing color and in fabulous shape. there is one small slit in each of the arms from where the estate had a doily pinned on each arm and it was pulled off when they were moving the sofa out cause it had darkened over the year. The men didn't realized it had a pin in it.can be easily remedied or can add another doily to each arm. I forgot to take pic of the small tufted roll pillow near each arm.they actually come out and can be used in other places on the sofa.they are so tightly in place I didn't realize that you can pull them out for another effect of the sofa. Its a beautiful teallish jadish color. Just needs to be cleaned a bit. All the tacks that are brass and antique are all tight and in place. the wood is spectacular. From the Civil War era, this sofa is what they call“transitional, which is when the style changed from empire from the 1840s to‘60s, into what became known as the Renaissance or Victorian era. This sofa has been recently reupholstered in a beautiful raised brocade fabric that is stunning against the original black walnut with burl walnut trim frame. The hand-carved crest on top is all intact, with only a small crack on the back rail of the sofa, but it is overall tight and sturdy, and has been checked out by the boys in our cabinet shop. The overall size is 77 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 60 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 24 inches from front to back, 40 inches high to the top of the sofa, and 18 inches high to the seat. This is a really gorgeous brown walnut with black inlay incise carved Victorian sofa that dates from the 1870s or'80s. It has a fantastic center crest right in the middle. Along with incise carved panels and a clamshell notch carved on top. The sofa is all solid walnut, carved throughout, including the bulbous legs, the skirts, the arms, and the back legs and side pieces. It comes beutifully covered in an equestrian style motif, which is actually in outstanding condition with only a few minor wear marks, and looks amazing against the walnut. The most important part is the frame, and that is all intact and very tight. The overall size is 67 inches on the outsides of the arms, and 59 inches on the inside. The piece is believed to be made of walnut and the estate's grand daughter believes the piece was in the family since the late 1850's- 1860's. The front of the chaise has a serpentine shape. Likewise the end of the chaise. The chaise is deep buttoned and is upholstered in a tightly woven finely embossed cotton damask with a repeating floral pattern. The chaise features the original brass castors. Original splayed legs to the back(a sign of good quality) and original scroll end cabriole legs to the front. The frame and legs are constructed of solid walnut. From out non-smoking home… Gorgeous fainting sofa. Most likely 1880s, with beautiful Eastlake foliate incising. Beautifully upholstered in luxurious velvet. Rosy-burgundy with golden-green stripes. Velvet is high-end and may be silk. It has some wear, but is still lovely and functional. Lovely woodwork. Including a high pediment with an ornate shield, curved overlaid burled walnut panels, ornate vining incising, turned feet, fluted molding that curves around the rounded base of the couch, and carved base pediment. Original finish, not refinished and ruined. Condition is excellent for approximately 130 years old. There is wear to the upholstery. But it is still beautiful and useful. Superb Victorian Antique Small Walnut framed Sofa. Professionally Upholstered A simply stunning original piece of Victorian furniture. A charmingly proportioned sofa or chaise which has been expensively and professionally reupholstered with traditional materials through out. Excellent quality yellow damask material covering. Traditional webbing, springing and real horse hair stuffing. The backrest also being deeply button backed and filled with horse hair. Frame and legs are I think of walnut and finished with the original cast brass and porcelain casters. There is old traces of worm on one of the back legs but this is minor and obviously has long been treated. There are a couple of tiny marks on the fabric which can be easily cleaned. I have tried to picture them but they are faint and small. It is from a smoke, pet and possibly most damaging, ... morechild free home. All joints are tight and secure and it is ready to give the new owner and their children's, children many more years of service. One of a couple of pieces of furniture that I don't want to let go but my little house just doesn't have the space. It would love to live in more opulent surroundings. Measures approx 135 long. 65cm high, 77cm deep and the actual seating is 54cm front to back. Antique Victorian Empire Walnut Civil War Sofa Couch
This sofa/ couch was made in the Civil War era. 1820-1860) It is 82" long and 39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand carved walnut wood about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around the front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of ... morethe sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" But it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue. It is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover. That is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric. It is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed.
