I had the original silk upholstery recovered in Dallas at the Merchandise Mart. And they indicated that it was Italian. I don’t see any maker marks. So I can’t say for sure if it was made in Italy. The front of the chaise has a serpentine shape. Likewise the end of the chaise. The chaise is deep buttoned and is upholstered in a tightly woven finely embossed cotton damask with a repeating floral pattern. The chaise features the original brass castors. Original splayed legs to the back(a sign of good quality) and original scroll end cabriole legs to the front. The frame and legs are constructed of solid walnut. Very long and heavy piece with phenomenal festoon carvings elaborately decorating the frame. This was recently acquired from an Estate in San Francisco where almost everything was of the same caliber and had been in the house for a long time. Exceptional piece of French chic furniture with very old fabric. The large pad is very heavy and seems to be made using feathers. Quite a lot of original paint is still present on this recliner. Superb Walnut Antique Chaise Lounge , Love Seat or Settee Made in England
This is a superb walnut cabriole legs chaise lounge made in England circa 1880. The condition of the frame is very good a rich walnut brown color, the fabric is pretty good just need a clean, and I would say it has all the original stuffing underneath the fabric.
