Antique Vintage Victorian Wood Bugundy Cushion Couch Sofa Hand Crafted 1800's This is an antique fabulous Victorian sofa. It is 82" long and 39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around ... morethe front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. This is a true Victorian gem! I have never seen anything like it. It is a fainting sofa/ chaise that opens and turns into a bed. The back has hinges and is meant to go down. The cushion opens up and folds out to reveal a hand made mattress, additional legs and even a hand made pillow. The mattress and pillow are made of straw and horse hair stuffing and are very heavy and amazingly in great shape. I purchased this set from Plaquemine LA off of river road about 10 years ago from an estate sale. Unfortunately I no longer have room for it. It is very detailed and intricate wood work and has been extremely well cared for the wood work is so detailed their are birds carved into the arms. This item comes as a set(2 chairs one momma and one papa chair(during this time period this is the way they constructed with one chair bigger for the man and one was smaller for the women) with a full size couch) One leg on a chair needs to be repaired. It is functional as is but it would be best to repair the foot of the chair. I never sat on it. as I wanted it only for looks and recently had this all done for myself- about 3 months ago. My fabric is also circa 1800's. Its exquisite as you can tell by my photos and its strong and makes a stunning rich appearance as you can see. I am re-do my room now-once again-and selling many of my fine personal antiques. This is a really old set of sofa and chair furniture. The old man that owned them said they belonged to his grandparents. They are probably late 1800s. The wood on the chair matches the sofa. But the upholstery is a different shade. The upholstery on both pieces needs cleaned. Both of these pieces are heavy, it almost takes three men to lift the couch. Up for sale is a Beautiful Antique Parlor Settee. I was told it was from the 1800's but I'm not sure. Could be from early 1900's. Looks like it is made of cherry wood with two claw feet. Antique American Empire Carved Mahogany 1800's Couch
This is a antique empire couch in mahogany and reupholstered with a cotton damask fabric. Overall in very good condition. However. Antiques are by their very nature imperfect with time and develop a patina of the wood that is desired. There are slight areas of marring to veneer. The carving on the front of arms in beautiful condition. The mahogany is gorgeous. Fabric is clean and not flawed. Very little wear to fabric. The arms are slightly loose and can be repaired. The condition can be seen in the photos. I intend to post additional photos on a day when light is proper. Email with questions. 19th Century Mahogany Chaises Recamier. Chippendale Style Antique Furniture This chaise was made in the 1870-1880's and has been housed in a fabric store in Chicago for many years where it was used as a display piece. This beautiful pieces of American history is still in useable condition and is ready to be displayed. A chaise like this would make a great statement piece in any home or business. This chaises lounge made from real mahogany has been recovered properly to insure it's value. The fabric is high end. RARE Antique Empire Sofa Dating back to 1800's! Intriquette hand carved design!
I have an antique empire sofa. Have a lot more detail photos that I can't upload so message me if you are sincerely interested. And I will message all of them to you. I'm not an expert on antique furniture, but here is what I have found based on research and my careful observations. Be sure to study pictures closely. It is a rare sofa. dating back to the 1800's. There is no date on sofa. This was from my searches. I found one other sofa that looks almost identical, and I will link to that site and you can read their description as well. I had the link here. But Ebay won't let me post links. so once again. if you'd like to read the description from an antique expert, message me and I will send you the link. Thank you) The sofa is very solid for it's age. Look at the pictures of the bottom. Sturdy boards in good shape. ... moreThe springs in the seat are tight. To my knowledge. Everything looks original. but I cannot guarantee that) Square nails in the bottom boards, old tacks holding the backing in place. The backing has medium size tear in it, and a few small ones, but not bad over all. I do not know if the upholstry is original. It is in good shape. In the one corner. It is worn through(see picture) but it's a very small patch. That is the only worn out patch I found. There are a few scuff marks as you can see on the picture, but in my opinion, it's in beautiful condition. I love when things not only are old, but'look old' It's solid wood with a veneer. Why they did this. I do not know. Cover wood with another wood veneer, but so it is. I checked out the pictures in the link I shared, and their wood looks identical to this, so I think it's safe to say their description would be accurate of this one as well. There are a few flicks out of the veneer. A little at the end of both arm rests. Also, included a picture of the one corner of the back. seems some of the wood came loose and was glued back in. Antique Pink Victorian Couch Sofa Love Seat Shabby Chic SEE PICS 1800's Chair
You are looking at a Victorian style love seat/sofa. The wood is still in great condition with no visible wear. The couch is sill firm and sturdy and can be used for everyday living or just an ornamental conversation piece. The upholstery at the seat area has had maybe a coffee or tea spill. The fabric appears to be of satin. You can't tell the couch has spill stains on it from halfway across the room. The marks are subtle. The size is 58' across and 37 1/2 inches tall. It's just the perfect size where it won't take up too much space. The Clayton family brought this piece from their collection with them and had it moved in when they first had a summer house built in 1923 in what is now historic Avondale.
