Antique Victorian Eastlake Rocker Loveseat Settee Great Wood Carvings Upholstery Need a couple of nice Victorian pieces for those finishing touches in a room. Do not miss these pieces. Recently picked them up at an auction. The wood on these pieces is just beautiful. Probably made in the 1880s to 1890s. I think the wood type is mahogany. But may be walnut, you be the judge. The carvings and scrollings are all still intact and were nicely done. The rocker was certainly used more than the settee and shows wear on the arms to the finish. On the left side of the settee the frame has a split in it that was corrected sometime quite a while ago. There is a bolt thru the repair that was not a part of the original piece. See the pic. I picked this piece up in the condition it is in, so cannot speak to when it was reupholstered, but it was done well ... moreand with a material that is very attractive and heavy, no flimsy stuff here. The pieces are all still tightly together at the joints. The rocker still has both its' springs. The roller wheels are both on the settee's front legs. The rocker is 39.25" tall. By 24.5" across, by 24.5" wide. The loves eat/settee is 40.25" tall. By 48" across, by 23" wide. Sorry. The other items you can see in the pics are not for sale. Antique LOVESEAT 1880s Eastlake Newly Restored and Upholstered SOFA SETTEE
Antique LOVESEAT 1880s Eastlake NEWLY RESTORED and UPHOLSTERED SOFA SETTEE HISTORY: The 1994 earthquake destroyed all our furniture. Much of which was antiques collected over the years. After retiring to Florida, we looked to replace some items. We found this love seat and a chair which we are also listing stored in a barn and loved the lines. We then located a retired gentleman who had many years experience in restoring antique furniture. He spent a couple of months totally restoring the wood. Then he referred us to a local upholstering company who rebuilt the seat and back and covered it with this beige velvet. Everything under the velvet is totally new as only the frame existed originally. We chose beige as the other furniture in our living room had bright colors and designs. We dressed this loveseat up with fancy pillows to match or coordinate ... morewith the other bright colors in the room. DESCRIPTION: The gentleman who restored this loveseat said that it was from the 1880s and named EASTLAKE. We went online and looked at Eastlake furniture from the 1880s and found pieces very similar to this. MEASUREMENTS ARE: Floor to highest point in middle of back 34 1/2 inches; Widest part from outside arm ends 36 inches; Arm length 21 1/2 inches from back frame to end; and seat is 21 x 33 1/2. Floor to top of padded seat is approximately 14 1/2 inches. This is very low; however. This can easily be made higher with casters. VALUATION: We research similar items for sale and try to price anything we list competitively and usually below lowest comparable. We located same category items from just under three hundred dollars which needed to be upholstered up to several thousand dollars. As we are serious about selling this beautiful loveseat to move to a smaller place. We decide to offer it for sale for $695.00 which is about what we paid to have it restored and upholstered. My mother gave me these beautiful Victorian Eastlake pieces years ago and I always planned to recover and refinish. All pieces have the original green velvet. I did pull the braided trim from four of the pieces and stapled a leopard print fabric on top. It can be pulled off and the original green velvet would be exposed. I don't know where the green braid is. However. I believe all the pieces should be re-upholstered anyway. Three pieces are part of a complete set and have matching trim. Terrific antique Eastlake settee or wide chair that's perfect a side piece in a living or family room. It's carved with a vine design at top. And upholstered in needlepoint with complementary velvet. The ebonized wood(possibly walnut. Of which many of these were made) is in nice condition with some light surface wear in a few spots and minor nicks/chips on the bottom where the upholstery is attached. The only real condition issue is to the back of the carved. Decorative piece at the center/bottom; it has a good-sized chip and a smaller one, none of which can be seen from the front. The upholstery is in very good condition with just minor wear from age/use. But has no fading or holes. The roses on the seat are petit point, and the rest a larger needlepoint. Fine 1870s Eastlake Burled Walnut Settee/Sofa
The is an original"Eastlake" settee/sofa made of solid American Black Walnut with burl insets of the same. It is American-made. Probably around 1870 to 1880 in imitation of the designs made popular by Charles Eastlake. The entire piece has been reglued and refinished. It is very solid and sturdy. The center back stile, top rail, bottom rail, and arms are carved with graceful motifs characteristic of the"Eastlake" style and are inset with elegant burled Walnut details. It is important to note that while the piece has been restored and the wood, springs, and stuffing are in great condition, it should be reupholstered. Antique Victorian Eastlake Settee with Black Walnut Frame with Provenance
This East Lake Victorian Settee with Black Walnut Frame romantically seats two comfortably on the newly upholstered rich imported Brocade. It was written up in the Pettaquamscutt Historical Society for having been found on a Schooner Maggie P. Smith from Newport News. Va bound for Portsmouth N.H. with a cargo of coal and was discovered ashore on Bass Rock, Narragansett by Walter P. Stanton Surfman. The papers with the rest of the story are with the love seat. It measures approximately 57 wide by 42 high. and is in superb condition!
