The sofa measures. 72” Long/ 29” Tall/ 36” deep(front to back) 53” from inside armrest to inside armrest. There are a few condition issues with the sofa. There is one button missing on the front of the seat. It needs to be re-set back down. Along with one other button cover missing from the armrest. See pictures. There are a few wear spots around the sofa. Mostly on the seat cushion. See pictures. There is a light mark on the bottom part of the back of the sofa. See picture. There is some dust/ dirt in the holes where the buttons are. Ive gotten most of it out. But you need a small brush or something similar to get it all out. Overall. This is a great vintage sofa with lots of character! Sofa is located in Pittsburgh. PA. Local Pickup is always an option! I am willing to ship the sofa via freight. Made in England Circa 1980 Green buttoned leather Sturdy mahogany bun feet Removable cushions Very good condition, The Chesterfield sofa was created to offer seating that promoted proper posture as well as comfort. This beautiful green leather Chesterfield sofa is no exception. The cushions are quite comfortable and the look of the buttoned green leather is unparalleled. This couch is in excellent condition with the leather having the proper amount of wear but no damage to it. This Chesterfield was made in England and the circa date is about 1980. The entire couch sits on mahogany bun feet and a birch frame that are quite strong and sturdy. The sofa was recently refurbished in England to bring back the leather's original color and luster as well as having the seat cushions re-stuffed. The seat height measures 17.5" A beautiful green leather Chesterfield sofa. Looks great from all angles. The cushions are removable for easy cleaning. The cushions are soft enough to be comfortable. But firm enough that you don't sink into them. The rolled arms are part of the classic Chesterfield look. The buttoned leather back is gorgeous. These mahogany bun feet are quite sturdy. The piece dates from Circa 1880 The Settee is a very striking piece which was re-upholstered not so long ago at great expense. It is a classic original Antique piece which has great shape with deep buttoning, rope patterned braiding at the front and is upholstered all over in blue fabric, the settee stands on 4 elegant turned tapering walnut legs which have the original castors. Condition It is 100% sound. It has had a full hand tacked restoration which means that no staples were used in the crafting process. This is true 19thC manner. It has been finished in our russet leathers and hand dyed to give a very rich. Deep colour with beautiful patina. This good sized sofa has a well padded back with scrolled arms over a sprung seat being raised on mahogany turned legs with later castors. Condition wise the back and arms are fine being well stuffed and padded. The seat is comfortable but little soft in places although the springs have not gone and just need a little tightening and padding. An original Victorian Chesterfield Sofa. There are many opinions on the origin of the word"chesterfield" as a description of the item we now know as such. According to the Oxford English Dictionary. The use of the word chesterfield was already used in England in the 1800's to describe a leather couch with its characteristic deep buttoned upholstery, rolled arms, equal back and arm height and nail head trim. Fully Restored Victorian Chesterfield Sofa Handcrafted Traditionally Naturally Description We have a selection of Victorian Chesterfield Sofas- all shapes& sizes ready for complete restoration by a collective of rural artisan upholsterers You pick a chesterfield from our stock of antique chesterfields. You choose the fabric& we will fully restore to your specifications- totally hand made& hand finished for the same price as the High Street This sofa has been restored using a fabulous Abraham Moon Wool from their Heritage Collection.the other photographs have been made us using some vintage. Some designer& some hand dyed antique linens Included in the price are all upholstery materials. Labour& a top fabric up to a retail value of £ 100 per metre All our sofas are made by hand traditionally using age old methods. They ... moreare not mass produced but are unique& made with love& care& without any toxic fire retardants, yet all our sofas conform to current UK Fire Regulations. The sofa base is webbed. Each strip being hand stretched& tacked in to place by hand using upholstery tacks& a small magnetic hammer. Then coil springs are tied into place by hand& each spring is then double lashed into place at the correct tension using laid cord. By hand. Laid cord is a thick twisted cord made from jute or hemp A heavy jute hessian is tacked into place over the springs& this is the base for the first stuffing of coir. We use ginger coir which has not been coated in chemical fire retardants. Each handful is applied by hand& held in place by a sewn bridle tie. The whole seat area is covered in the first stuffing& then regulated with a regulator( an upholstery tool that looks like a flat topped knitting needle) to make sure that the coir has been applied evenly. A hessian scrim is then applied to the first stuffing& through stuffing ties are sewn in using a 12" double pointed needle.
