We are selling a Victorian Settee- I'm not sure how old it is exactly but I'd guess that it's from the mid to late 1800's. I purchased it from an antique store a few years ago and they didn't have any information about it. It's a pretty teal color- the back is the same as the front(the flash from the camera makes it look a little lighter but it's not) It is nicely carved and the upholstery is in very good condition- no stains or rips. I am not sure if the upholstery is original or not. The sofa measures approximately 64" long. 25" wide and the seat sits at 16. As with any piece of older furniture there are some nicks and dings in the wood but it is a beautiful sofa. Local pick up only within 10 calendar days of winning bid. This was bought at an estate sale in Virginia. I know little about it but was told by the seller that it is from the 1800s. That's not verified. It's really lovely and with updated upholstery it would be gorgeous. The upholstery is in good shape except for the arm where the binding is loose. There are 2 spots where the wood is marred but otherwise looks good to me.very ornate. Casters on front legs. The bottom lining is a bit loose and burlap is visible under the lining. Beautifully carved and painted Gustavian sofa from Stockholm. Sweden, circa 1805. Elegant lattice spindle back and curved arms ending in falcon heads. The history of Gustavian furniture began in 1771, when the future king of Sweden, Gustav III, returned home to Sweden after an extended stay at the court of Louis XVI at Versailles. The young monarch was highly influenced by the French Neoclassical style and sought to recreate it in Sweden. The sofa measures 72.5" L x 24" D x and 35.75" H at back, 25.5" top of arm. This auction is for a really pretty antique victorian love seat/settee. I think the wood is walnut. The decoration across the top wood looks like nuts or fruit and flowers of some kind that is carved. The velvet material is a very pale reddish cranberry. The pictures are very true to the color. The back is tufted. The wood frame is sturdy. It measures about 59 inches long from the widest part of the wood frame on top. It stands about 34 inches tall to the top of the fruit. This is a rare Salesman's sample Victorian loveseat which was used to show customers before purchasing the real thing. It is in really nice condition with original upholstery. The upholstery shows a little wear with no rips or tears. As you can see in the pictures the condition is very good. The wood has scrolling on the top and bottom front. It looks like walnut. This is an amazing beautiful antique vintage salesman sample or child's chase lounge or settee couch in red. This is all solid carved wood. This is not reproduction. It is in excellent shape. And was thought to be made for the children of the wealthy Victorian high class when purchasing similar furniture for their home or used as salesman samples. Most likely it was a salesman sample as the legs are slightly different on each side, possibly showing options for footing size. Vintage Antique Victorian Childs Doll Salesman Sample Chaise Couch Settee chair
For auction I have a really beautiful doll size antique Victorian chair and love seat. I purchased these at an estate sale. I'm not sure if there meant to be for dolls or if it was a salesman sample set. But at this sale it was full of Victorian clothes and Victorian furniture. It has the Rose on top of them carved in the wood just like I've seen on real furniture. It's a velvet red material. The love seat measures 15in long X 15 tall. The chair measures 9in X 16 1/2 tall. The legs on the love seat look as though they were broke and put back on at one time. Other than that there both in nice condition. I'm no expert but look at pics for best description. We are offering this extremely nice antique Sofa/ Settee. We purchased this from a high end L.A. Estate Auction and have used it in our vintage prop rental business. As much as we love the piece it is too nice to be used as a rental- given it's age. Ornate carvings and delicate fabric, we are too worried about it when it leaves our hands. What a great piece. I have tried to highlight in the photos the incredible carvings- when coupled with the silk brocade fabric it really makes a statement. Unfortunately it does have a few tears on the seat bottom as photo'd. The tears are clearly noticeable up close but when looking at the piece from a distance the tears blend in with the rest of the fabric which remains in good condition.
