A shaped seat rail is supported by four turned legs and original brass capped casters. This fantastic sofa does have an old repair to one end which appears to be very sturdy and secure and one rosette at the left end of the sofa has some inlay loss. Thank goodness the repair is there or by today's standards it would have been in the dump and we would have lost this wonderful piece of art~just my opinion. The vintage cream colored fabric does show some ware on one corner and arm and needs a gentle cleaning. Please look closely and enlarge the pictures as all the detail cannot be shown in 12. It is 82" long and ... more39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around the front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. This is beautiful walnut sofa from about 1880. It is a full sofa(6' long) and seats 3 very well. It is the style of Hunzinger but is not marked. The finish is original however there have been some reinforcement done to the frame and arms. There are a few minor details missing but could be replaced or left as is. However. The work cannot be seen. A cross brace underneath has come undone but can be reattached with no effort. The original upholstry and padding(which was rotten and mouse eaten) was replaced with the current in the 1970's. It is serviceable but could stand a professional cleaning. The sofa itself was part of a set from an old estate in San Jose CA. and was sold to the current owner by the late Addie Walgren of Old Homestead Antiques in Morgan Hill, CA. about 1977. The entire frame is finger carved and very curvatious. The finish is probably original. The frame is in good solid condition. It retains its springs but they will need to be retied. The sofa is approximately 78 1/2 inches long. 24 inches wide and 37 inches tall. The seat of the sofa is 20 inches deep. The wood of the sofa is a rich dark color; probably mahogany. Beautiful Needlepoint Covered Victorian Settee & Matching Chair
Up for auction is the very pretty Victorian settee and chair. The entire piece is covered in needlepoint, but it does have a few issues, a brace inside the settee will need to be re glued and the fabric needs to be re attached to the wood frame of the settee and the gimp will have to be re glued as well, It is usable but will need some TLC, The piece is being sold AS IS, The chair has NO issues at all and is covered in the same color needle point, This is a local pick up item as well.Feel Free to ask any questions, This was bought from a local estate sale, NO odors, stains or rips other then what was noted in my description, The settee is 57 1/2 inches long, 21 inches wide from the front leg to the back leg and it is 39 inches high from the floor to the top of the medallion in the back.

RARE AND LOVELY HAND CARVED VICTORIAN PARLOR SETEE/LOVESEAT! This quaint little piece was in the foyer of my great grandmothers house for over 70 years. It was brought to Denver from Ashland. Nebraska(small prairie town) where it was purchased in the late 1800's by her father who owned the Lyman Brush Drug Store. There was a fire in the Denver home back in the 1940's and the piece had some restoration then. During the early 80's the piece was cleaned up and perhaps made stronger and readied for upholstery. It has been in storage since. The original stuffing I remember had springs and matted horsehair. Additionally, here's what I can offer to the best of my knowledge: It appears to be Oak or Maple. The carving is exquisite. Done by hand, though a couple of details are missing. The piece is quaint and light and would make a ... moregreat addition to any decor. The dimensions are 50" X 18" X 36" The piece has dual back cushions and a single seat cushion area. The piece has had no upholstery for more than 30 years. I do not know the manufacturer. Beautiful antique setee. Has one spot under the back leg that needs to be stapled. Some tiny original stuffing shakes out, when being moved around in transporting, left it this way so it can be seen by buyer, in order to not compromise the original piece. Sturdy and has lots of carved wood showing. wood is very solid. Dark finish, medium red velveteen fabric. Fabric is original but I believe the tacks have been replaced.
