It is 82" long and ... more39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around the front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. 2 Edwardian 1920's Fainting Couch Coverlets Scalloped Edge Fabric Yardage 68X110
This Auction is for 2 Fabric Coverlets. Recently purchased at auction. I'm assuming this pair went together. The patterned fabric(red/ white& pink Asian Acanthus theme) is fitted to the shape of a fainting couch.the soft and shiney pink polished cotton is not fitted but has an unusual shape at one end. Both are lined with a natural colored cotton muslin. Each piece also includes matching ruffled trim/edging that has been hand sewn in place. Measurements of both are approx. 68 inches wide X 110 inches long. Neither piece has been laundered. No noted stubborn stains. One straight line rip at one end of the fitted patterned fabric piece(approx. 5 inches long) These items will need to be laundered as they most likely haven't been cleaned in many years. Being offered for sale is this fantastic Victorian Tiger Oak Fainting Sofa/ Couch/ Chaise Lounge with Four Carved Paw Feet circa 1900. This fainting sofa offers lovely fanned carvings at the headrest and foot-rest with beautiful carvings at the center-rail and four carved paw feet with scroll carvings above each foot and casters intact on all four feet. This fainting sofa measures 77 inches long.28 inches wide and 31 inches in height at the head-rest, with the seat portion measuring 21 inches in height and this piece weighs approximately 100 lbs. The vintage red velvet replacement fabric has no stains or tears but does show some wear at the head-rest portion and on the fabric covered buttons that it has acquired over time. American Classical Empire Grecian Couch Recamier c.1820
Here's an extremely rare and beautiful American Classical Empire Period Grecian Couch. Or recamier. This piece was most likely made in New York City around 1815- 1820. It has four big and boldly carved hairy paw feet(finished in the round) on casters, the front feet with with cornucopia and fruits and leaves, fine crotch mahogany throughout, gold gilt stenciling along the front bottom and along the back, the arms are also heavily and deeply carved with cornucopia and what looks like dogwood flowers(typical for NY furniture) and the back has rope twist carving with gilt anthemions and a big gilt accented roundel. Wow! This piece has it all! It's also much smaller than most recamiers, which makes it even more desirable and rare: it's only about 73" long, perfect for most living rooms, bedrooms and even apartments. Reupholstered ... morein bright empire green fabric with gold medallions, matched gold gimp, and has two wonderful pillows(one round with a gilt metal center and gold greek key border tape, and one square with four big lovely tassels. This is a crown piece of American Classical furniture and was restored with much(way too much) care and effort. If you collect and love classical, empire, regency, federal furniture and interiors, this is a rare rare chance to add a once in a lifetime piece to your collection. One of the front feet is a replacement but was done by a master carver who used the other original foot as a model, so it's a perfect match and fit and you wouldn't know unless someone told you. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around ... morethe front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. This is a true Victorian gem! I have never seen anything like it. It is a fainting sofa/ chaise that opens and turns into a bed. The back has hinges and is meant to go down. The cushion opens up and folds out to reveal a hand made mattress, additional legs and even a hand made pillow. The mattress and pillow are made of straw and horse hair stuffing and are very heavy and amazingly in great shape. All antique experts that I have asked about this piece agree that this is extremely rare and nothing like they have seen. It has a metal plaque on the bottom with date and patent number from Boston. I have been told that this is a museum quality piece and is worth several thousands. The upholstery is original navy velvet. The fabric is in good condition with no tears only some sun damage. Amazing color and in fabulous shape. there is one small slit in each of the arms from where the estate had a doily pinned on each arm and it was pulled off when they were moving the sofa out cause it had darkened over the year. The men didn't realized it had a pin in it.can be easily remedied or can add another doily to each arm. I forgot to take pic of the small tufted roll pillow near each arm.they actually come out and can be used in other places on the sofa.they are so tightly in place I didn't realize that you can pull them out for another effect of the sofa. Antique Vintage Victorian Wood Burgundy Cushion Couch Sofa Hand Crafted 1800's This is an antique fabulous Victorian sofa. It is 82" long and 39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around ... morethe front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. Was told this was from a Brothel in the late 1800's. It has been reupholstered and stuffed. A beautiful dark red. Almost burgundy. Truly feels like a cloud when reclining on it! I haven't used any scratch remover or polish so I'm sure that would clean right up and shine! The tufts aren't as deep as I like but that's just my preference. I hate to sell this but as you can see it doesn't match my color scheme. I live in Boerne. Tx and when payment is received can meet with the couch in SAN ANTONIO, AUSTIN, HALF WAY TO HOUSTON or any way that can save you some miles. I go to these places frequently. Antique empire style couch and ottoman
Beautiful Empire style couch and matching ottoman with walnut trim from the mid 19th century. Upholstery updated in 2006. This is a lovely piece which I would love to keep. But am downsizing and will no longer have room for it. The matching ottoman sets this piece apart from other similar couches. Dimensions: 6 ft 3 in wide. 2 ft deep. Couch has wheels. The left rear wheel came off(I have it) and probably would not be difficult to put back on. Since I've owned it I've had it resting on a small block of wood which has worked very well. It's a very sturdy piece. There's a small amount of decorative trim missing from the ottoman. Buyer is responsible for picking up. But she said it never was her type of collecting. I did buy one other piece that my mom fell in love with that is a bed. If this one brings a fair price. I might convince her to let me sell the bed also. The lady knew that both pieces were originally from a furniture store in Sheboygan Wisconsin. The couch measures 22 inches by 11 inches by 10 1/2 inches. The leather is considerably worn. But there are no tears or broken pieces. The lady told me that many years ago salesman would travel from store to store with a smaller version of what they were selling. These were easier to carry and was able to sell more items. Original needlepoint upholstery. Needlepoint on the back, cushions, arms and the skirt at the bottom. Measures 32 3/4" tall, 74 1/2" wide, 32" deep and from the floor to the seat is 18 1/2" The couch is very solid but it does have 2 tears on the back and a small hole in the top of the cushion on the left side ... moreand a tear on the side of the right cushion that is not visible when on the couch as pictures will show. The cushions are soft and comfortable and not matted. Shows wear from age and use but still a nice old comfortable couch. My guess is that it dates from the 1870s to 1890s. Circa 1860- 1880. The chaise boasts(when facing) a carved right hand arm. A raised sweeping back with a moulded frame. The back deep-buttoned rail sweeps down and is connected to the frame. The front of the chaise features a straight rail and the end of the chaise has straight end. The chaise is upholstered in rich pink draylon upholstery. The swab and tube cushion is detachable. The chaise features the original turned legs to the back and front and below these are brass castors. The frame and legs are constructed of solid mahogany. The chaise can seat up to 3 persons.
