This is an exceptional antique Biedermeier sofa in solid(not veneer) elm wood with ebonized accents and a green silk patterned fabric seat and back. Perhaps c. 1840 European. Superior quality hand made sofa in excellent condition with ordinary wear. Note: The seat frame has an internal repair(not visible) due to old crack in wood and there is a faint water stain(approx. 6"x8" shown in pics. The settee has a sweeping back rest and ample seat for comfort. It measures 39 1/2 inch across backrest. And approximately an inch less for seat width, 35 7/8 inch from floor to top of backrest, and seat depth is total is 19 1/2 inches and 18 1/2 inches from floor to top of seat. The arms are all solid wood and have wood pegs for construction. The beautiful warm golden brown tones are all with their natural aged patina.
