This is a really old set of sofa and chair furniture. The old man that owned them said they belonged to his grandparents. They are probably late 1800s. The wood on the chair matches the sofa. But the upholstery is a different shade. The upholstery on both pieces needs cleaned. Both of these pieces are heavy, it almost takes three men to lift the couch. I do not know much about old furniture, so if you can shed any light on these, let me know. There is a makers tag in 1 of the pics of the sofa. The sofa is app. 7ft long. thanks

This is an amazing beautiful matched set of antique vintage salesman sample or child's chase lounge or settee couch and matching chair in PURPLE! This is all solid carved wood from the late 1800's according to the previous owner. This is not reproduction. These are in excellent shape. And were though to be made for the children of the wealthy Victorian high class when purchasing similar furniture for their home or used as salesman samples. The child size couch is 19 inches tall, approximately 34 inches long about 28 inches across on the armrests, and 16 approx. inches deep. The matching chair is 18 inches deep and just under 17" tall at its highest point. I believe the wood to be carved Mahogany with great detail and craftsmanship. For auction I have a really beautiful doll size antique Victorian chair and love seat. I purchased these at an estate sale. I'm not sure if there meant to be for dolls or if it was a salesman sample set. But at this sale it was full of Victorian clothes and Victorian furniture. It has the Rose on top of them carved in the wood just like I've seen on real furniture. It's a velvet red material. The love seat measures 15in long X 15 tall. The chair measures 9in X 16 1/2 tall. The legs on the love seat look as though they were broke and put back on at one time. Other than that there both in nice condition. I'm no expert but look at pics for best description. Antique Pink Victorian Couch Sofa Love Seat Shabby Chic SEE PICS 1800's Chair
You are looking at a Victorian style love seat/sofa. The wood is still in great condition with no visible wear. The couch is sill firm and sturdy and can be used for everyday living or just an ornamental conversation piece. The upholstery at the seat area has had maybe a coffee or tea spill. The fabric appears to be of satin. You can't tell the couch has spill stains on it from halfway across the room. The marks are subtle. The size is 58' across and 37 1/2 inches tall. It's just the perfect size where it won't take up too much space. The Clayton family brought this piece from their collection with them and had it moved in when they first had a summer house built in 1923 in what is now historic Avondale.
