Hello! I have a really pretty Antique Empire sofa for sale! From my research. I think this sofa dates between 1840-1860. It measures 80 in. Long, 22 in. Wide, and 36 in. Tall. As per previous owner, the sofa originally came from savannah georgia. The sofa still retains its original horse hair stuffing which is covered in a navy blue material. As you can tell the sofa is missing some veneer and ornamental applique pieces. I originally bought this sofa for a winter project, but found another sofa that I liked better. This was bought at an estate sale in Virginia. I know little about it but was told by the seller that it is from the 1800s. That's not verified. It's really lovely and with updated upholstery it would be gorgeous. The upholstery is in good shape except for the arm where the binding is loose. There are 2 spots where the wood is marred but otherwise looks good to me.very ornate. Casters on front legs. The bottom lining is a bit loose and burlap is visible under the lining. Antique Sofa - Beautiful Carving
This is an antique sofa. Probably Victorian which was purchased from an antique dealer in New Orleans to my knowledge. It was purchased by a relative who passed it along to another relative who had it in her living room for around 60 or so years. It is a beautiful piece. I don't know if the upholstery is original or if it was reupholstered at one time. It has had this upholstery for at least 60 years. Note the ornate wood carving, there is one small area where there is a small piece which has broken off- you can see it in one of the photos. The fabric is in good condition considering it's age, however I'm sure has faded. There are a few places where the threads have pulled apart on the seat- also seen in one of the photos. Beautiful Antique Eastlake Settee, Chair, Needlepoint Roses & Velvet Upholstery
Terrific antique Eastlake settee or wide chair that's perfect a side piece in a living or family room. It's carved with a vine design at top. And upholstered in needlepoint with complementary velvet. The ebonized wood(possibly walnut. Of which many of these were made) is in nice condition with some light surface wear in a few spots and minor nicks/chips on the bottom where the upholstery is attached. The only real condition issue is to the back of the carved. Decorative piece at the center/bottom; it has a good-sized chip and a smaller one, none of which can be seen from the front. The upholstery is in very good condition with just minor wear from age/use. But has no fading or holes. The roses on the seat are petit point, and the rest a larger needlepoint. I believe the needlepoint is original(it almost certainly dates to that time ... moreperiod or within 20-30 years) But the settee might have been re-upholstered along with newer velvet and trim at some point. The settee measures 32.5" high. 20.5" wide and is 32" long. Because of its size/weight. With shell or cornucopia detailing, carved feet and original springs and filling inside. Vintage damask-like fabric is very ugly and not in good condition anymore. So you'll have to re-upholster this and make it your own! Wood(walnut or oak) is scuffed and a bit scratched. But since pictures were taken I've stained it and it looks much better! 19th century parlor set. As you can see there is beautiful carving throughout. Still has original upholstery so slightly worn. There is some wear/damage to the right side inner armrest of the chair where it has been scratched by a cat. Photo 3) Also. The cushion that comes with the chair as well as one of the three couch cushions have bad zippers and need new foam. Photo 1) This set would be a great addition to any home and would look even better re-upholstered. Please feel free to ask any questions. The chair and couch are both 26 1/2" high at the armrest and 35" high at the back. The chair is 32" deep and 35" wide. The couch is 36" deep and 79" wide.
