SALT GLAZE CIRCA 1994 HEINZ FLOWER POT - WESTERWALD POTTERY
This dear little salt glaze flower pot with the Heinz logo was made by Westerwald Pottery in 1994. The salt glaze and blue design are in excellent condition as it has been boxed for years. Pot has a permanent drip dish. This dish. However, is chipped on the rim. Please see photo as it depicts it well. The pot measures approximately 4" tall and 4-1/2" in diameter at base. It flares out slightly in middle. Signature on bottom is prominent. On the back of the pot is a logo with ASFSA depicted. I believe this is a school-based organization. Therefore. ANTIQUE MARSTON'S RESTAURANT BEAN CROCK WINDMILL CAPE COD BOSTON 1840's ?
You are reviewing a most interesting little Decorated Stoneware Crock that is associated with Cape Cod. MA. It is decorated with an underglaze blue design of a windmill in a circle and the name Marston's in a ribbon below that. The piece is 5 1/4" tall and about 5 1/4" at its widest. The exterior is a creamy beige color and the inside is brown Albany slip type glaze. It is hand formed with interior rings from the potters fingers. Likely made no later than 1910 and no earlier than 1880. CONDITION: This piece is virtually perfect. There are no chips. Cracks or flakes. It was used for cooking, so the bottom is pretty black. Otherwise, a great little stoneware crock. Im not sure if the cover is original.My guess is no I have been told a couple of stories about this. So please judge for yourself. The first is that Marstons was a ... morerestaurant on the Cape around 1900 that would bake and serve their beans in pots like this. The other is that Marstons was a mill(and t is a Marston's Mill) that sold products in crocks like this. That's all I can tell you. However, from the look of the bottom and the top edge, it does appear that this has been used for cooking of some type. I do believe that this is somehow related to Cape Cod, so it is possible it was made at a regional potter such as in Taunton, MA. Capt. Russell Marston inherited the 4-acre homestead from his oldest brother Capt. Zenas Marston but probably never actually lived there. was born in 1816 in Boston. The youngest of seven children of Clement Marston. Capt. Russell went to sea at the age of nine as a cabin boy and cook earning $3.00/mo. In 1842 he married Sara Crosby and lived in the front part of the home of his brother in-law. Hilman Crosby, where their son Howard was born in 1846. By this time, he was Captain and owner of the coastal schooner"Outvie" At the age of thirty one. In 1847, he sold his ship, turned his back on the sea and started the famous Marston's. There are two(2) strips of blue at the top for added accent. I think this crock may have had a lid of some kind as there is a inner rim on the crock's opening. In mint condition.no cracks. Chips, signs of crazing. There are a few(2) tiny areas where the cream background paint has run, and the bottom outside has some manufacturing marks which are covered over with the paint. But these definately do not deter from the crock's appearance or painting. Stoneware Pottery Crock Miniature Cobalt Blue Four Leaf Clover Rumborf
This miniature speckled stoneware crock has a deep colbalt blue four leaf clover and blue circles on either side of it and the name Rumborf on the other side(if I am reading it correctly? I do not know much about it except that I bought it in an antique shop and I can not find anything on the name on the internet. I did find that there was a potter in Maryland that often painted clovers and the clay was speckled. A wonderful miniature stoneware piece. Could be used for melted butter or as a cordial or could be planter in doll house. Aprox. Dimentions are 14" tall by 12 1/2" across. This crock is in superb condition and appears unused. There is a small 1/4' hairline crack in one handle that seems to pose no structural threat. Antique primitive Vintage Dark Brown Crock Jar Wax Seal?
Antique dark brown crock jar used for vegetables or fruit. The lid was sealed to the jar with wax i believe. Such jars date back to the 1200's however this one is probably from the late 1800's- to the early 1900s. It is in very good condition considering it's age. The inside rim is rough and has small chips. As you can see in the picture. There is some discoloration at the bottom, appears to be a manufacturing flaw. Otherwise there are no other cracks, other chips and the glaze is in good condition. This would be a great addition to a collection. Pictures are part of description also. I will combine postage I have considerable inventory I need to consolidate and doesn't help that I keep adding to it. If you find something you like remember I will combine postage.

Antique Red Wing bottom signed zinc glazed packing Jar for canning. I think this is an early piece manufactured between 1883 and 1894 but I'm not certain. This piece measures 5 3/4" tall and 6" wide and is complete with lid. Both jar and lid are in very good condition with no chips or cracks. North Carolina had the first recorded pottery operating in Catawba Valley. Seagle made utilitarian wares for the local farming families.jars.churns.jugs and pitchers to the quality of being called the best ever produced in NC history. North Carolina was enriched by Daniel teaching family members and journey men his style and quality of throwing pots. The pictures tell the story of this beautiful little one gallon jar.flawless. The storage jar is 8 3/4" tall.about 21" around the middle of the ovoid body.5" diameter on the base and 5" at the rolled rim with a rich dark green runny alkaline glaze. Mini Antique Sponge ware Crock Creamware With Green And Red Glaze
This small antique crock is 2 and 7/8" high and 5 and 1/4" in diameter. It is a typical yellowish cream ware color. With crazing, especially on the inside. The outside decorated area does not have much visible crazing. There are three kiln marks on the bottom, but no signature or mark. The is a single small chip on the outside of the rim, and a hairline crack on the inside that starts at this chip and drops about halfway into the bowl. No danger of splitting, though. Antique ovoid decorated stoneware crock, 8'' tall
This primitive decorated stoneware jar is an amazing size 8' tall. The top rim has drooped in the firing to give it an unusual shape. It has cobalt decoration. 3 squiggles. There is some roughness on the top rim. There are no cracks, the ovoid shape is wonderful and makes it older than the straight sided ones. Antique Stoneware: XL 6Gal. Crock w/ Detailed Cobalt Bird, Upstate NY, ca.1870
A rare 6-Gallon Salt-Glazed Crock from Upstate New York with monumental proportions; featuring an equally impressive Bird. Slip-trailed in very bold Cobalt. Lightly impressed below the rim: RIEDINGER& CAIRE, POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, with the capacity mark to the right. This stamp was used by Philip Riedinger and Adam Caire 1857-1878 in their well-respected Hudson Valley manufactory. These 6Gal. Birds are relatively scarce; their size and weight made them quite difficult to maneuver when full. This Crock, for example, would weigh nearly 70 lbs. with 24 quarts of liquid! Some imperfections to note: there are two hairlines that go through(one in front; one in back) The line on the lower front continues partially into the base(see close-up) this might lighten up with a good scrubbing. There are also some other"surface only" lines on the ... moreglaze surface. The rim has a two chips and some roughness; and there is glaze flaking near the left handle and the interior Albany Slip. PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE TWO GALLON STONEWARE CHURN CROCK WITH APPLIED HANDLES
Up for bids is this wonderful antique primitive two gallon stoneware pottery churn crock with two great looking applied handles. It stands 14" tall. 5 1/4" wide at mouth, 6 3/4" at base, and approx. 8" at its widest point. I do not know the age but I believe it is quite early. It does have a pretty long hair line crack that runs from the mid-upper body to the bottom of the base as shown in the pictures. The crack is stable but If you run your fingernail across the crack you can feel it. It has a great look and patina and would still be a great display piece. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!

Antique Stoneware Canning Crock - Glazed - 18th, 19th century - Brown
This is an Antique Canning Crock made out of stoneware. It is glazed and is just the crock only. Research told me that it is from around the late 1800's. Cosmetically it shows surface and age wear. There is some tiny little chips in the rim, that are not big at all. Measures: 6" high with a rim and base diameter of 5.25" Questions are welcomed. Please see photos for condition and quality! I have had this piece in my personal collection for years and have not been able to identify it. Any experts out there are welcome and encouraged to comment on this piece. This is an interesting ovoid stoneware jar. It has no lid. It holds almost 1 gallon. It has a very nice coggle design under the hand painted design. I think this crock may be from the North East as the design is of a river running into the sea with the waves crashing on to the high cliffs. If it were from the south east you would think it would be less green and lower beach area. But this is only a guess. There are a few condition concerns, two hair lines emanating from the upper rim and some minor paint loss. There are a few glaze ... morepops near the lower rim.
