This is a Vintage Blue Crown 2 Gallon Stoneware water Cooler Crock With Lid A nd Sp igot. Th is is a cool old crock. I do not know it's exact age. I t looks like the lid may be a replacement but I cannot tell for sure. The spigot is pla stic and the interior of the cr ock and lid are immaculate so your guess as to the age of this is as good as mine. This would make a big hit on your Thanksgiving beverage table or next summer picnic. The exterior of the crock has quite a bit of crazing and also has a yellowi sh discoloration of the glaze. i do not know if it could be cleaned off but I do know it adds to the character of the item. This is a lovely Antique Early 20th Century 2-Gallon CROWN“Cobalt Blue” Banded in Mint Condition. The crock has no lid or spigot. The crock is clearly marked with the CROWN logo and 2 Gallon size number in the same Cobalt Blue as the band at its center. The Crock is in Mint Condition with no breaks. Chips, cracks or crazing- not even a hairline or nick. It is absolutely pristine. I have never seen another crock with this many decorative“Cobalt Blue” bands. There are 6 of them encircling the crock, each 1/2” wide, 1 at the top, 1 at the bottom and 2 sets 2 on each side of the center. The crock measures 7-1/2” across the top, curving outward to 9” across its bulbous center and narrowing to 8” across the base and stands 11-3/4” high. The stoneware is 1/2” thick. The inside measurement at the top is 6-5/8” and the spigot hole is 3/4” The crock ... morehas a“fired” glaze over its natural off-white stoneware and cobalt blue colors. Here is a beautiful old water cooler from the late 1800s.doesn't look like it was ever used. It's about 5 gallons with a rich Albany type glaze inside and the upper outside. These were used in saloons. Bars, pubs, hotels and warehouses to hold the refreshment of choice. It is 18" tall.8 1/2" on the base and 38 1/2" around the ovoid middle. I bought it awhile back and was going to get an artist to paint a big red rooster on it and label it red roost rye.as a decorative piece.just didn't happen. The old wooden spigot didn't come with it but I'll throw that in as well. It weighs almost 22 lbs. unboxed so you can figure 25 lbs to your zip from 23851.for postage. more pictures below description* This large pot is a bit of a mystery. I believe it is oriental or middle eastern. It has a Naga, serpent or dragon on it. It is 16" tall, 17" across top and 11.25" across the bottom. It weighs 37 pounds- it's big& heavy! There are indications that say this might be handmade, like how the glaze does not entirely cover all areas, especially on the outside near the bottom and some other glaze flaws. Also, the brown drip marks present around the outside top. There are many abrasions and marks but still displays well. Antique Robinson Ransbottom 4 Gallon Blue Crown Stoneware Water Crock w/ Spigot
This is a very nice vintage crock made Robinson-Ransbottom sometime during the mid-1900's. The company initially started producing from The Ransbottom Brothers Pottery in 1900. The pottery shop was the largest stoneware producer in the world at the time and was sold to The Robinson Clay Products Company in 1919. Together as Robinson-Ransbottom they produced stoneware with the blue crown logo. And some marks show“RRP” in the crown. Others have a number inside the crown, which indicates the size of the crock or bowl. This four-gallon crock measures about 11" across and 14" tall. The piece is decorated with royal blue stripes which give it a beautifully rich aesthetic. There is wonderful detail in the glaze, so please view the pictures carefully for paint and condition details. One is on front and also shows on back. Another is on side and also shows on insde. One is on inside and doesn't show thru to outside. There are no chips. Button on spout still pushes in and out. There is no damage to this nice old stoneware water cooler. Nor is there any notable staining- only the mild crazing noted above. The spigot works and does not leak. The lid has a coating of some sort of translucent gasket material applied to the surface that meets the top edge of the vessel(fifth photo) I'm assuming to prevent chipping. This is very hard to see, and is probably removable, although it seems like a good idea. Some crazing in the glaze but no chips or cracks. The wooden handle was originally painted red but most of the paint has wore off. The lid has quite a few dents and dings. Up for sale is a nice. Scarce early 1900's 4.5" tall and 3" wide advertising stoneware mini jug that reads RADIUM WATER FROM SEQUOYAH HOTEL CLAREMORE OKLA. It is in great condition with no cracks or chips and even has the original cork stopper. It has the normal pits and bumps of crocks of this age. There are 2 flake spots next to each other on the base of crock you can see them in the lower part of the picture i took of the base. There are a few rub marks on the crock where it has rubbed against something. It weighs 10 ounces. I am not sure of the maker of this crock, maybe red wing maybe not you probably have a better idea of the manufacture i'm not an expert on this subject. Radium water was a quack medicine back in the early 1900's when radiation was still a fairly new discovery and not much was know about it. This is a vintage Calif. USA Stoneware Pottery water crock with lid and spout/dispenser and a large blue goose on the front of it. I am pretty sure it has a salt glaze on it. But cannot guarantee it is. I think somebody put the duck/goose design on recently in the past 20 years, it is over the glaze and does not have a glaze over it. The dispenser works great, however the lid has been broken and there is a chip at the top opening of the crock(see pictures. There are no cracks that I can see anywhere, and no crazing. It is hallmarked Calif USA on the bottom of the crock and under the lid it is hallmarked 2 N. It measures 10 1/12" tall by 7" at the base and the top opening is 5" wide. I think you could remove the duck/goose fairly easy if you wanted to. Vintage Old MONON Railroad Train Railway Glazed Stoneware Pottery Water Jug Just one serious collector and this water jug will be gone! Acquired in upper Central Indiana from an estate. This is a glazed stoneware crock that is marked MONON ROUTE in blue letters across the front. These were used to carry water for the engineer or crew. This jug holds approximately one gallon of liquid. No cracks. One filled in chip on the bottom(which does not go through to the inside) and with a few small chips around the bottom edge and the usual minor mold flaws and that are commonly found on these items. The surface has a mottled look in places. But this is normal and common for these utilitarian items. A must-have for the Monon collector. Or for someone who ... morespecializes in collecting railroad-marked pottery pieces. As far as I know, there are only a few railroad-marked water jugs from perhaps 6 or 7 railroads. These crocks were never meant to last very long and to find one in this great condition is unusual. Imagine these being moved around and set in any given place on a moving train; the chances of their survival with that kind of use is minimal at best. These are not easy to find and I personally will suspect I will never find another as many were simply broken or tossed away when better ways of carrying water came along.
