Made be tween 1877-1 897-has the bee sting or to rnado sty le mark with hand pressed or hand molded handles(elephant ear-I think is what they call that) Red Wing stop ped using the Salt Glaze Process in 1897. So this dates before that. One handle is broken-more like chipped- as shown in the pictures. Other than that. The molted or dimpled glazing is in g reat condition with some marks. As can be seen. There is a white mark that is shown in the pictures-th at is the remains of the sticker from the ant ique store we are closing. Easily can be removed. Other than the handle. What you are viewing is an original antique 3-4 gallon(I Think) Stoneware crock with applied handles and a wonderful blue bee sting decoration on the front. Piece is in great shape for its age with some wear and aging to contend with as well as one 6in crack starting from the top. Piece has nice clean handles and crack is in the back of the piece so it won't detract much in display. Piece measures 9in X 8 3/4in X 13 3/4in and is a nice displayable size but once again, I am not sure about the gallon size. The bee-sting marks are hand-painted and vary in size from 2.75 inches long to 3.25 inches long. They are bright and clear- very well done and attractive. W.H. Lehew& Co. Strasburg, VA. is embossed(impressed) into the sides of the crock in four different places. I researched this crock online and found that it would have been made in the 1860’s through 1870’s. This crock measures 7.75 inches tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. Measured across the bottom. This crock is in EXCELLENT condition. Please review my photos carefully. The glaze is wonderful. Shiny and free from damage. The inside ... moreof the crock is also well-glazed and free from damage. There are no cracks. Chips, hairlines, fleabites– excellent. I took a close-up photo of a 3/8 inch manufacturer’s“line” in the rim of the crock. It is not a crack. It looks like someone shallowly cut the rim of the crock with a knife before it was baked. It extends down the rim 3/8” and into the rim 1/8” It was part of the manufacturing process and is under-glaze– I cover this carefully because I believe in full-disclosure and I value my 100% positive feedback rating. Please note the top and the bottom of the crock. Which both show the marks related to having sat on a rack in the kiln, and had another rack placed on top. Antique Primitive 10 Gallon Cobalt Blue Bee Sting Salt Glaze Stoneware Crock This is a very large 10-gallon stoneware crock that has been handed down in our Illinois/Indiana family since the 19 th century. The family lore is that it was used to pickle herring. It has a salt glaze exterior with a slip glaze brown interior. The decoration is a large free-hand cobalt blue“bee sting” The design measures 7 ½” long x 5” wide. The crock is 18” in height and 19” with the lid in place. The lid has a 10” diameter. The crock has a pleasing curved line with two ear-like handles. The widest section of the curved line measures 11” in diameter. This large crock holds 10 gallons. The last two pictures show the crock filled with 10 gallons of water. With the lid in place. It weighs a hefty 28 pounds. There is a fine crack that runs from the rim and curves ... moredown 9” to about the mid-point of the crock(see pictures of exterior and interior of the crack) It leeks slightly when filled with water. However, as an antique, it is doubtful that this collector item would be put back into use for pickling herring. You can be creative and use this crock in new ways. I have used it as a coffee table by putting a 30” diameter round glass piece on top of it. Use your imagination. This would be a great piece to own, display, and enjoy. This is a nice. BOLD antique Redwing stoneware crock with a rich, dark salt glaze and dark cobalt blue markings including a 3 and bee sting(target) design. It looks fantastic from the front; there is little damage, and it is only visible from the top and back/side. There are two small chips on the top edge, a faint crow's foot on the side, and a few tiny flakes on the handles that are not noticeable. The crock measures 10" in diameter x 10 1/2" H. It will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Gray outside. It is in good used condition, it has no major damage and no repairs. It has a few faint age cracks along the base but nothing deep or visible unless closely inspected. Antique Collectible Bee Sting Stinger 2 Gallon Salt Glazed Crock -Great Shape
Listed for auction is an early salt glaze 2 gallon crock with the cobalt bee sting pattern and a number 2 above the pattern. It measures 9.5 inches in diameter(outside diameter) and stands 9.75 inches high. It is in great shape with no cracks or chips. The outside color is a dark beige and the inside is brown. The bottom is stained from age. There is some roughness around the bottom edge in some places but it looks to be from the original manufacturer since it is glazed over as the outside of the crock. There are stains on the outside of the crock from wear and age. Please see photos for a better description. No reserve. Thanks for looking.

Antique Red Wing Stoneware 2 Gal. Salt glaze Crock cobalt blue Bee sting target
Here is an antique 2 gallon salt glaze crock. The bottom is marked" Red Wing. Stone Ware, C. It is in very good condition for its age. Most of the inperfections were from the factory. There is one small chip inside the rim and a glaze pop inside. There is a larger chip on the outside bottom that may have happend during manufacture- it is very smooth. I see no cracks around the entire inside and it does ring like a bell when you tap it. A very nice crock. Hope someone can give it a good home. Please email with any questions.
