Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots around the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. Vintage Stoneware Six Gallon Salt Glaze Crock with Stenciled 6 and Decor
For your consideration is a salt glazed six gallon crock. I am not sure what company manufactured this crock. However there are some clues that could help: It is yellow(or at least I think it would be if properly cleaned) The 6 and th decor around it were stenciled on. The decor around the 6 has an outside diameter of approximately 2" The crock is hand turned. There is a sigle trim line, running not more than 1/8 of inch below the rounded rim and another single trim line approximately 1 1/4" below the rim. This crock stands approximately 13 1/2" tall and the bottom is approximately 12" in diameter. This crock is very stable, but has the following imperfections: In the front and running downward into the decor circle, is a very tight hairline approximately 4" long. Closer to the right handle, than the front is a three ... morehailine"crow's foot" each of the three hairlines are between 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" long and all three are very tight. On each handle, are minor to insignifcant chips. On the backsideare some places where the glaze is missing. This crock is basically in"as found condition; all I did was wipe the dust off. Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description. Check out my as I combine shipping when practical. This saves the buyer money. Old Antique Redwing 5 Gallon Stoneware Crock Jug Butter Churn Red Wing
We have this old Redwing butter churn crock to offer in good as found condition. It is marked with the wing and Union Stoneware logo. It has wire handles. No lid and a nice 4" wing. The crock has a flaw on the bottom that looks like it was made this way. Just a hole, small. not a chip. There is a 1" crack that is on the bottom rim that is also a firing crack. Only shallow and not seen inside. This is a good Redwing Churn and is a hard to find piece. It is in good clean condition and is 16 1/2" tall. ANTIQUE ROYCROFT ART POTTERY LITTLE BROWN JUG ARTS CRAFTS OVOID STONEWARE CROCK!
I am selling my highly collectible ANTIQUE early's ROYCROFT SHOPS ARTS& CRAFTS ART POTTERY" LITTLE BROWN JUG" As I need to downsize some of my pottery collections. This darling"Little Brown Jug" stands 5" tall X 4" at the widest point of the jug body. The spout sits 7/8" above the body and the handle is large enough to put a fat finger through. The handle sits 1 1/4" out to the side. This little jug is heavy art pottery stoneware in the traditional Arts& Crafts manner with the typical satin matte glaze. The glaze is a rich coffee brown and there are several decorative"rings" under the glaze at the widest point in the body(see photos) This was made by the Roycroft Shops out of Aurora NY in the early 1900's. The jug is marked on the unglazed underside with the Roycroft" ... moreR" in a circle below the stylized cross. The impression of the stamp is not deep. But legible. The jug is in very good antique condition, it is almost 100 years old! There are no cracks, chips or repairs however the rich brown glaze does have a few little"glaze pops" here and there in the glaze only, not the clay. There are three small glaze pops that are the size of a large pin head and another a bit larger, about 1/8" in diameter. Most of these are in one area so the jug will display nicely. They are old glaze pops that are often found on art pottery, as this is the nature of the glaze. This is not considered damage as these"pops" usually occurred during firing and manufacture. The glazes are never smooth and there are usually little lumps and bumps under the glaze. These pops are tiny and well documented in my pictures. Roycroft shops art pottery is highly collectible and this is a nice size. This would look perfect with your other primitives. Mission setting or for display with dried straw flowers. Antique 9-1/4" White Glazed Crock/Tureen Lid w/Design 9-1/4" white glazed cover or lid with knob and concentric ring. The inner ones with scalloped edges. Underside has an inner ring that measures 6-7/8" in diameter. Nice simple design. This is not bright white, but an aged white that has gray undertones to me. There are the usual slubs and imperfections from the glazing process, a couple of small darker areas. Nice condition overall. This is probably a bit small to be a crock lid and too fancy a top. I would sooner think that it's a soup tureen lid or something similar. This will ship in a Medium Flat Rate Priority Box. Up for auction is 1 antique crock This crock is yellowish/brown in color and is in really good shape. For this crocks age it is in excellent shape. I try to let everyone know about any imperfections so here are a few. It has a small impurity on the rim from when the crock was made. I would guess it was a air bubble when the crock was molded out. It is a light bluish gray with cobalt blue stripes. The bottom is marked Robinson Ransbottom Roseville OHIO USA#308. About 5" tall, 8 1/4" across. Excellent. A flaw on the bottom edge that is a slight gap in the clay. In photo#3 you can see it at about 1 o'clock. You can also see it at about 5 o'clock on the bottom of the crock in the last photo. Vintage R.R.P. CO. Rosville. Ohio U.S.A. Tan stoneware crock.4.5” in diameter and 3.125” high and weighs approx 1 pounds 6 ounces. It is in used condition. There is a rough spot on the bottom inside in the glaze and otherwise. There are no cracks or chips. I have included a full group of pics showing all sides top& bottom. The bottom mark is the R.R.P Co. Roseville. O. U.S.A. in an oval stamp. A bit of history for those interested: R.R.P. Co. Rosville. Ohio U.S.A the beginning: Frank Ransbottom. A successful jobber of stoneware and pottery, decided to started his own company(with his brother) in 1900 to distribute pottery products made locally Ohio. The brothers had been exposed to making pottery by their father, Alfred, who operated the Bluebird Potteries in Ohio. By 1916 the Ransbottom Pottery Company was the largest producer of stoneware ... morejars. Merged in 1920: Wanting to diversify. Ransbottom merged with Robinson Clay Products Co, a producer of tile and bricks. The product lines were expanded and included gardenware. Not Roseville: Many people have confused Robinson-Ransbottom Pottery with Roseville Pottery because they were 1. Located in Roseville. Ohio 2. This is NOT a chip, but a flaw in the application of the glaze. It is 7 1/4 inches tall without the lid. It measures 10 inches across the widest part(including the handle) The body is 8 1/2 inches across without the handle. The lid is 5 inches wide and the knob is 1 1/8 inches across. Antique Circa 1850 "E - FERRIS" Pottery Ginger Beer Bottle Blue Shoulders N.R.
Up for auction is a very nice pottery ginger beer bottle. Reads E- Ferris. The shoulders. Name, and blob top are a nice cobalt blue. This bottle is in overall good condition, though there in one small flake from the top of the lip, a pot stone mark on the side, and a small minor line in the glaze from the base of the bottle, see pics. Overall these areas should not be too much of an issue for this rare bottle. All areas being mentioned are to be as accurate as I can and most of these bottles have these types of wear. This is an Antique A.P. Donaghho Stoneware Canning Crock. It has a couple of pretty good cracks in it so you won't be able to make your favorite sauerkraut recipe with it but it will make an incredible display and addition to your collection. Vintage redware bean pot. This little pot stands just 4 3/4" tall. It measures 4 3/4" in diameter at the opening and 5" in diameter at the base. The outside of the pot is unglazed and the inside is glazed in brown. There are no cracks or chips on this pot but there is some blacking from being over a fire on the bottom. A 6 1/2" tall antique pottery Ye Olden Time figural jug of a liquor bottle in a wi cker cover with a n old clay to bacco pip e leaning on the top side of it. This jug is a true antique. It was hand-made in a mold and dates back to the late 1800's. Jug reads: YE/ OLDEN/ TIME" Condition: Jug is in nice clean condition. On close inspection. The tip of the pipe is broken off and there is a small nick in the side of the lip. Otherwise jug has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Age: An antique hand-molded crock. Ca. late 1800's. It has a grey color present throughout with embossed navy blue lettering. The front of the crock reads"A.O. Whittemore Havana. N. Y. The crock is finished with a textured, soft glaze. All original. In Good Condition. There is a large chip near the top opening and a couple of smaller chips. Nicks along the base. When the floor of the old hotel was torn out there was a small cache of old restaurant ware. China dishes, silverware, tin ware, old bottles, and 4 of these. The bottles were old hand blown bottles dating back to the 1880's, thus the 1880's date we ascribed to this one. I believe this was referred to as'transfer ware' where a picture was'transferred' onto an item like this. This is quite a beautiful example. Check it out! Up for auction is a vintage wide neck stoneware pottery thermos crock jar/jug liner. Has quite a few larg chips that are shown in the pictures. Measures 10" x 7" x 3 1/2" No maker's mark. The outside has a flat unglazed surface and the inside has a glazed surface. I have no idea as to the age of this jar. I don't see any surface cracks. I boug ht this cute litt le bean pot at an estate sale and have kep t if for awhile hop ing to learn something about it. Maybe you can help. It measures 4 inches across the fat part with a 2 inch op ening and 2 1/2 inches tall. It has a beautiful pu rplish hue to the gla ze. Antique Stoneware Crock Old Greensboro PA? 3 Cherries Hearth Jar 1800's Rare
An antique stoneware crock. Handpainted cobalt with 3 cherries and 2 leaves. Has a couple factory pock marks and a few minor chips around the rim. One tight hairline crack runs the length of the back side and has a couple small branches coming off it. Another small hairline on the bottom two inches. Also on the back. No cracks on the front of the jar. Other than that, super condition. The color on this one is fantastic. Perfect gray with beautiful cobalt cherries. No odd colors or fading anywhere. Stoneware Five Gallon Hand Turned R.R.P. Co. or Crown Brand Crock
For your consideration is a hand turned five gallon crock made by Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company of Roseville. Ohio. This company was founded in Akron, Ohio in 1856 as Johnson, Whitmore and Company; through a series of mergers, acquisitions and taking on new partners, it became known as R.R.P. Co. and was located in Roseville. I think(think, not 100% sure; if anybody knows for sure, please inform me) the mark on this crock was used during the 1930s. The crown is in blue and under the clear glaze; meaning it cannot be scrubbed or scraped off. The interior of this piece of stoneware shows evidence of being hand turned. There is a large USA debossed into the bottom. This stoneware crock is almost 13 3/4" and the bottom is almost 11 3/4" in diameter. This crock has 0 cracks, however it has a chip where the left side of the front ... moremeets the bottom; this chip is less than 1/4 of an inch in diameter and is very shallow. The interior glaze feels rougher than usual on a hand turned crock. Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description. Check out my! 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Crock 5" tall by 7" diameter SMALL FRACTURE,ADDS CHARACTER!
This auction is for a vintage 1/2 gallon stoneware crock. This measures right at 5" tall and has a diameter right at 7"across. This has a fracture in the that start part way down the side and continues half way across the bottom. This is a fracture not a break. I am not sure what the crock was used for, I have cleaned it up, you may want to do more. Most crocks will have a fracture and some blemishes, to me it adds character to these pieces. Antique 10 gallon stoneware crock
This is an antique 10 gallon stoneware crock. The only stoneware in this auction is the crock. The other jugs are there to judge its immense size and due to bulk and weight this must be a pick-up only. Crock is in great condition with a couple of hair-lines and an american eagle sticker that was put on some years ago, but will peel off with some effort. Crock has 2 wires that go all the way around near the top and bottom, and looks like these were put on right after the jug was fired, to protect it from breaking.
