Exceptional quality. Small alkaline or salt glazed, primitive antique crock. 6 1/4 inches high, about 3 inch top diameter, about 4 1/4 inch bottom diameter. ... moreLooks to be just under 5 inches around(diameter) in the middle. Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots around the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Design 2 Gallon Ovoid Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with a few spider cracks on the base with 2 going through to the inside. 3 of them extend up the outside bottom of the crock. There are minor shallow chips to the upper rim. Both outside and inside. The crock is 100% structually sound, it rings true when you tap it and holds water no leaks. No other issues at all. The crock measures 12" tall x 10" wide x 8" at the mouth x 6 1/4" at the base and weighs approximately 10lb 10oz. The crock has an incised 2 below the one handle. A lovely large crock with a great ovoid shape and applied handles. It has a heavy and dark cobalt blue flower and leaf design that borders the top half of the crock. Information can be obtained from"Potteries of California" No it isn't in mint condition but it will still pickle a very large batch of olives or cucumbers. Provenance information; this crock came from the same house in San Jose that the windows that may or may not be listed came out of. The home was turn of the century. This advertising piece of stoneware has a lovely ivory color with cobalt blue writing. A great bowl to keep keys and your wallet in or use in the kitchen. It is advertising Lambrecht Butter made in New Jersey and has a 12 cent deposit. Has no chips or cracks that were not original flaws in the making. There is a three veined crack at one of the 12 cent deposits area where the blue ink has flowed into. But then again this was done in the making. It holds 1 1/2 cups so it can be used as a measure. Up for auction I have a large stoneware lid. The lid is 15 inches across and the inside(part with the big chip) is 12-3/4 inches which bevels in to 12-1/2 inches. Not including the handle the lid is 2-1/2 inches thick. There is a 12 marked on the top. As mentioned there is a large chip on the inside. On the outside as shown in the pictures there are hairlines all around the edges that do not go all the way thru. There is no weakness in the crock edges. Offering a very early Redware Bean Pot. It is marked on the inside of the lid"Societe Industrielle" a star Logo and another name I can't make out- ends with espisam) and the number 12. Same marking on the side of the pot. On one side of the pot it is also marked Made in(another word I can't make out) Please enlarge the photos for better detail. The pot and lid are in very clean condition. Photo 8 shows an old chip on the inside of the lid rim. Looks to have been there a long time. The lid measures 9" across the center. 4.5" tall and 8" across the bottom. The inside of the pot has a very high glaze as does the top of the lid. You can see the rings of pottery clay around the bottom- light smudges and brown ring around the bottom. NO cracks. The handles are also very clean and tightly fitted to the pot. For you today is a beautiful 12 Gallon Red Wing Stoneware Crock from an Estate. It has black painted wood Bail Handles. The handles are strong and intact. This crock itself is very clean and is in wonderful excellent condition. It has a few very small outside surface bubble holes. I believe these happened during manufacturing. 1 is about 1/4" or abit less and the others are the size of a pen tip. I do not see any cracks at all. What a show piece you will certainly want others to see. Patented Dec. 21, 1915. It is dated on the crock next to the left handle which is the patent date of the bail handles. This is the largest and best cobalt color on any crock I have owned. I absolutely am positive that there are no repairs. The interior looks like it has never been used. But the bottom edge is as smooth as a babys bottom from wear. It is probably from the Baltimore area. The diameter is 12' and it is 6' tall. This is an exceptional crock, not a chip any where. The mark under the handle.I believe is a capital I rather than a 1. It weighs 11 lbs. before packing. I will be adding insurance to the final value. Pennsylvania PA Stoneware Conrad New Geneva 2 Gallon 12" tall Crock Sealer Jar
I know nothing about pottery. Forgive the terms I use. This 12" tall crock has a scallop chip on the inside, clear from the picture, chip doesn't extend through the piece, you can't see light through it. There are 2 main cracks, kiln cracks( I don't know, but they don't seem to extend through to the inside of the crock; crock seems to have two thick layers, an inside layer& a thick glaze layer. 1st crack is at 12 o'clock if the face were at 6 o'clock, and the 2nd crack is at 9 o' clock. Both cracks have"tributary" cracks, and the cracks both connect to each other along the bottom of the piece. Inside of the piece seems to show no such cracks, so it may be a crack of the glaze only. The crack along the bottom at 12 o'clock is a tight crack that also goes through on the outside but can't ... morebe seen on the inside. There's also a minor crack along the bottom and lower side at 6 o'clock. It also isn't seen on the inside. Any questions, please ask. I'm around for US business hours.

The inside ring is approx 8 1/2" I.D. and 9 1/2" O.D. the knob is 2 1/2" round, someone has written 4 on it- not sure if that means it goes to a number four crock or what, overall it stands approx 1 3/4" high to the top of the inside ring. pitted as you can see in the picture- made that way by the looks of it. overall very good condition for its age. one small chip on the underside. very heavy- weighs four pounds 11 oz.
