Location: Utica, United States This vintage 2 gallon crock is from the Western Stoneware Company in Monmouth. Illinois. Western Stoneware was formed in 1906 after seven local companies ... moremerged. These companies were: Monmouth Pottery Company, Weir Pottery Company, Macomb Stoneware Company, D. Culbertson Stoneware Company, Clinton Stoneware Company, and Fort Dodge Stoneware. They directly competed with the famed Red Wing Union Stoneware Company of Red Wing, Minnesota. This crock has a Bristol(white) glaze on both the outside and inside. Both the company logo and the design on the opposite side are stenciled on. The maple leaf logo dates the piece to between 1906 and 1930. The stencil on the backside is a nice arrangement of different leaves. This is a nice piece of Americana that would look good in any collection. The crock is in very good shape considering it was originally purchased to be used. Not just for decoration. I have taken photos of three spots that show a little damage; two are along the bottom of the crock and one is on the side. These can be seen in pictures 9, 10, and 11. They are small and hardly noticed. The bottom of the crock on the inside is worn(as seen in picture#5) from being used over the years. The crock has no major cracks or chips. The crock is marked as a 2 gallon crock and measures approximately 9 1/4" tall and 9 1/4" across the top. If you have any questions. Please don’t hesitate to contact me. Antique WEIR Monmouth No. 1 Lidded Storage Stoneware Crock
Hello and Welcome! For bids. We offer this antique WEIR Monmouth No. 1 Storage Crock. Description: This is a very old and in great condition storage crock. The crock is made of stoneware and measures 5 1/2 inches(to top of bale) and is 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The crock bottom is the classic white/gray and brown glaze. The crock is marked with an impressed stamp at the top of the neck in a small circle"Weir. Monmouth, K" The crock is outfitted with an interesting wire bale, having a curved release handle. The cap/seal is fairly interesting also and is marked in raised letters"No. 1, PAT March 1st 92(1892) April 16th 1901" Overall the crock is in excellent condition, the metal bale is in great shape and only the cap seal has any wear/damage to it. Western Stoneware Monmouth, Illinois Crock w/ Stylized Leaf, Flowers & Air Vents
For your consideration is a two gallon crock made by Western Stoneware Company of Monmouth. Illinois. Stoneware pieces displaying the stylized Maple leaf(such as this one) were only manufactured for a few years in the late 1930s and the early 1940s. The backside of this crock, is decorated with a floral design. This crock has a type of a tie ring that I am completely unfamiliar with. A tie ring is an extra indentation below the rim, this ring is for a string or twine too hold a cloth in place, with the purpose of the cloth being to protect the contents from whatever that may find a way to the crock. Also, on the bottom of this crock are six openings or vents, to allow the hot air from the kiln to circulate during firing. This crock is approximately 9 1/4" tall and the bottom is approximately 8 3/4" in diameter. MONMOUTH, ILL. and it's stamped with a MAPLE LEAF. It is in excellent vintage condition with one chip(about 5/8"under the base and some finish crazing. The chip is only visible from the bottom and adds to it's primitive character(see picture) There are several small factory mold marks and pits on the sides, but this is quite normal with this type of old stoneware. This is a matching pair of beautiful vintage Western Stoneware Co. No. 4 crocks. They measure 7-1/2" high and 5-1/2" diameter. There is no damage to these crocks. They just show natural signs of aging. I am not sure if these crocks had a rubber seal or not, but they lock tight with the WEIR SEAL. If they need a seal it looks like one from a large mason jar might fit.

For your consideration is a one gallon crock made by Western Stoneware of Monmouth. Illinois. When this crock was manufactured, a tie ring and five vents were included. The tie ring is the extra ring around the top; this is so a piece of cloth can be placed over the top and hehd in place by a string in this groove. The vents are the five indentations on the bottom that allow the hot air and gases in the kiln to circulate during firing. The height is almost 8" and the bottom has a diameter of 7 1/4" This crock has minor chips and major cracks. Please examine the pictures carefully.

Stoneware 1/2 Gallon Bottom Marked Monmouth Pottery Crock with Tie Ring
For your consideration is a crock with a 1/2 of a gallon capacity. Debossed into the bottom is MONMOUTH POTTERY CO. This company was located in Monmouth. Illinois. This company was organized on February 1, 1893 and began operations in the spring of 1894. This crock has a tie ring; meaning that a cloth could be placed over the top and there is a groove around the top in which a string can be placed and tied to hold the cloth, which protects the contents from whatever. This piece of stoneware is 6 1/8" tall and the bottom is almost 5 5/8" in diameter. Beautiful Stoneware Pickle Crock#2(2 gallon) Maple Leaf and Leaves Pattern Made by Western Stoneware Co. Monmouth. Illinois This 2 gallon pickle crock has been used only for making pickles. It is clean and free of crazing. The one place that looks like a chip(see photo# 5) seems an original defect in the manufacturing process and does not affect the use of the crock. There is also a hairline crack on one side. It does not go across the top lip or inside. So does not affect the use of the crock. The crock belonged to my grandmother in Texas. I do not know how old it is. But I'm placing between 1920 and 1930. I have used it to make pickles. Excellent condition. Little Brown Jug Crock Small Pitcher Monmouth Western Stoneware Embossed Diamond
Shown here is this very sweet little pitcher which is probably Monmouth or Western Stoneware. It is unmarked on the bottom. It is about 5 inches(13 cm) tall and about 6 1/2 inches(16.5 cm) from tip of spout to tip of handle. There are no chips. Cracks, fleabites, or crazing on this piece. There are some character marks in the greenware that have been glazed over. The pattern is not the usual concentric circles on most of these pitchers. But of embossed diamonds and around the top a dentil border. Perfect for serving milk. Cream, or heated syrup. Also would be cute used for a wildflower vase. Please see my other auctions for more. Beautiful blue wide-mouth Western Stoneware Co. Monmouth Illinois. canning jar/c. Rock with Weir lid. This is approximately 6" x 6" There is a chip out of the bottom of the crock(see photo) And a surface crack along the side(see photo) The lid and the sides have some bumps/lumps that I guess were in the original pottery. M. Anufacturer's defect of dripped blue glaze down the inside of the crock and underside of the lid. The clasp appears somewhat rusty. Lid says. Western Stoneware Co. Monmouth. Illinois . CROCK- 8 Early 1900s Western Stoneware 8 Gallon Crock The Western Stoneware company produced this crock and others between 1906 and 1930 in Monmouth. Illinois. The crocks were used for butter, lard, rising bread dough, and other culinary uses. Measurements: 17" tall, between 13 and 14" wide depending on where you measure due to the hand thrown clay. Character Marks: This crock is old and has definitely been used. There are pock marks and a chip on the handle that truely attest to this workhorse. The chip is on the rear of the handle and it barely noticeable when you look at the crock from the front. The blue imprints of the number 8. The leaf, and the Western Stoneware company logo are vivid and lovely. INSIDE GLAZE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Please see condition as pictured. Vintage Western Monmouth 40 Gallon Crock RARE! LOOK!! Americana USA White
This auction is for a Vintage Western Monmouth 40 gallon crock. This is a rare find. You just don't see this size of crock anymore. Over the years of use. Most of these big guys were broken to pieces. This particular one does show wear. We have banded it with straps but are going to remove these and band it with electrical wire so it isn't as noticeable. There is a pretty good size crack going down the side and curving into the bottom. Hopefully you can see this in the pictures. The bottom needs a good cleaning as you can see, but most of that should come out. On the one side it appears to be paint that has gotton rubbed on the side of the crock, paint remover should take care of this as well. This is very heavy, takes at least 2 people to move it. The number 40 and the Monmouth Leaf are intact, the leaf has a smudge, alot of these ... morehave this, appears to be made this way. Measures right at 29" tall with a diameter of approx. 22" Due to its size and delicate nature this will be pick up only. For auction I have a Early MONMOUTH POTTERY 3 Gallon Crock Made in MONMOUTH. ILL USA. This crock is in wonderful condition. There is a small hairline crack in the center of the crock measuring 3" long, but it is a surface crack not going all the way thru. There might be a couple of flea bite chips, but nothing to really report. The only issue I have with this crock, when purchased there was some sort of sticky liquid in the bottom and sides. I've treid a lot of different cleaners and while I cleaned up most of it, there is still some residue in areas. I talked to the previous owner and they said they didn't know what it was and they never tried cleaning it. The measurements are 10 1/4" high x 10 1/2" across.
