But slightly oblong in shape and the clay is slightly lumpy) 19th century 3 gallon salt ... moreglazed crock with bold cobalt leaf designs. It is sturdy, solid, and has a molded handle both sides. Due to age, the color of the clay has a slightly patchy appearance from discoloration. One of the handles has a few small flakes, but there are no other chips on the crock. There are three short cracks on the top edge that don't go all the way through the clay and look like they might be splits from firing. One very fine unnoticeable hairline on the top edge is slightly visible inside and out and is probably a true hairline from damage, but it is very difficult to see. All cracks are shown in the photos. There are two yellow streaks in the glaze on the front, also shown in the photos. They are part of the glaze and happened during manufacture. The crock measures 11" in diameter x 10 3/4" H. It will be packed securely in a double box and insured during shipping.

Up for bid is a vintage pottery crock with the cobalt blue Crown 3 hallmark. The outside is glazed in beige. With a cobalt blue crown. The inside is glazed in a deep brown with rust streaks. USA is marked on the bottom. The crock is a 3 gallon size and measures 11 1/4" tall, 10 3/4" wide. It is in beautiful condition with no chips and only one tiny crack, barely visible in photo 5. Antique 1 Gallon Stoneware Gray Colored Crock With Cobalt Blue Feather Design
Up for bids is a one gallon antique gray colored stoneware crock with a cobalt blue feather pattern as pictured. The crock is probably native to here in southwestern Pennsylvania where many famous potters made their crocks and jugs with this color clay and blue designs in the mid 1800's. The crock stands 10 1/4" high and measures 6 1/4" wide across the top rim and 6 3/4" wide across the bottom. If your looking at the crock from the front where the number one is there is one chip on the top left side. One chip on the bottom edge on the right side and a tight 4" long hairline crack on the back side as seen in the pictures. Otherwise the crock is in very nice solid condition. Being sold as pictured and described so please ask any questions that you may have before you place a bid.

This auction is for a very rare 1 1/2 gallon salt glaize crock that has many production defects and a very unusual size making this crock a great addition to any collection. The crock displays very nicely. Then you look at it with a close examining eye you start to notice the manufactoring errors. The top or mouth measures 7 1/2" across on direction and 8" across in the opposite E-W N-S. The pattern lines around the top are not complete all the way around the crock. Up for auction is an Antique Stoneware Salt Glaze Decorated Cobalt Blue Stylized Swirly 3 Gallon Crock. Circa: 1880's. The large blue Stylized Swirly 3 decoration is lovely. The decoration is 3" long X 2" wide. This 3 Gallon crock is tan with dark specks in the glaze. Measurements: 10 3/4" tall. 10 1/2" in diameter at the top rim. About 10 1/2" in diameter at the base. 3 Gallon crock. Condition: No chips or hairlines. Nice ring when tapped! Clean inside but there are flakes in the glaze and what feels like sand on parts of the glaze inside. See last 4 pictures. The last two pictures were taken with a flash. The outside has spots of red paint on the side with the extra manufacturing drips of glaze on the handle, shown in picture 7& 8. Applied handles are in very good condition. Antique Primitive 10 Gallon Cobalt Blue Bee Sting Salt Glaze Stoneware Crock This is a very large 10-gallon stoneware crock that has been handed down in our Illinois/Indiana family since the 19 th century. The family lore is that it was used to pickle herring. It has a salt glaze exterior with a slip glaze brown interior. The decoration is a large free-hand cobalt blue“bee sting” The design measures 7 ½” long x 5” wide. The crock is 18” in height and 19” with the lid in place. The lid has a 10” diameter. The crock has a pleasing curved line with two ear-like handles. The widest section of the curved line measures 11” in diameter. This large crock holds 10 gallons. The last two pictures show the crock filled with 10 gallons of water. With the lid in place. It weighs a hefty 28 pounds. There is a fine crack that runs from the rim and curves ... moredown 9” to about the mid-point of the crock(see pictures of exterior and interior of the crack) It leeks slightly when filled with water. However, as an antique, it is doubtful that this collector item would be put back into use for pickling herring. You can be creative and use this crock in new ways. I have used it as a coffee table by putting a 30” diameter round glass piece on top of it. Use your imagination. This would be a great piece to own, display, and enjoy. Antique Stoneware Glazed Pottery Cobalt Blue Drop 8 Design 3 Gallon Redwing? This auction is for an antique 3 gallon crock/churn. About 13" tall and about 9" across the top and bottom. It doesn't seem to be marked anywhere but it came from an estate collection in Pennsylvania. Cosmetically this crock is in fair condition considering its age with some cracks. Only one crack is all the way to the inside. There is what is called turkey droppings in the glaze near the back and a scuff in the glaze about the size and shape of an average finger on the front. Has a cobalt blue drop 8 type design with a number 3 in quotations that is typical of this time period. 1877-1895) I do not know much about crocks but I have searched the internet for a while now and I cannot find another crock/churn with this two toned mottled appearance? This magnificent Stoneware Churn measures 13.5" tall and 10" diameter. It weighs 12 pounds. It features a stunning Cobalt Blue Horse on each side- a masterful work of art!
