The glazing on this crock is in beautiful condition, inside and out. The crock has no markings on it but I suspect it was made locally as S.E. Ohio was/is well known for its good clay soils for producing pottery, ceramics& glass. Within one half hour of where I live is where the homes of such companies as Roseville Pottery, Hull Pottery, Hall Pottery, Anchor-Hocking Glass, Hocking Glass, Fenton, McCoy Pottery, etc. were located. This old crock, though it is missing its lid(like many) is in very, very good condition with no cracks, nicks, etc. and would make a great addition to any collection. But slightly oblong in shape and the clay is slightly lumpy) 19th century 3 gallon salt ... moreglazed crock with bold cobalt leaf designs. It is sturdy, solid, and has a molded handle both sides. Due to age, the color of the clay has a slightly patchy appearance from discoloration. One of the handles has a few small flakes, but there are no other chips on the crock. There are three short cracks on the top edge that don't go all the way through the clay and look like they might be splits from firing. One very fine unnoticeable hairline on the top edge is slightly visible inside and out and is probably a true hairline from damage, but it is very difficult to see. All cracks are shown in the photos. There are two yellow streaks in the glaze on the front, also shown in the photos. They are part of the glaze and happened during manufacture. The crock measures 11" in diameter x 10 3/4" H. It will be packed securely in a double box and insured during shipping.

Antique New York Stoneware Blue Flower Salt Glazed 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock
Up for auction is an Antique New York Stoneware Deep Blue Flower Design 4 Gallon Crock. The New York Stoneware Co and the number 4 is impressed. The flower design is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider ... morehairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. The large blue flower decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color. This collectible crock is great to use in a decorative decor. Please check out my other auctions for more vintage items.

Hello& Welcome, Here's a fantastic old stoneware crock that's still in great condition. It holds one gallon filled to its brim and measures approximately 9 3/4" high. 6 1/4" wide at the bottom& 5 1/2" wide at the top. The opening is 4" wide and it has a tapered neck. The glazing on this crock is in beautiful condition, inside and out. The crock has no markings on it but I suspect it was made locally as S.E. Ohio was/is well known for its good clay soils for producing pottery, ceramics& glass. Within one half hour of where I live is where the homes of such companies as Roseville Pottery, Hull Pottery, Hall Pottery, Anchor-Hocking Glass, Hocking Glass, Fenton, McCoy Pottery, etc. were located. This old crock, though it is missing its lid(like many) is in very, very good condition with no cracks, nicks, ... moreetc. and would make a great addition to any collection. Rare Primitive Stamped 3 Gallon Crock Antique Salt Glazed Crock W Cobalt -Fisher
Unique hand painted three gallon salt glazed crock with beautiful cobalt blue markings. This is one from my personal collection that I need to whittle down a little bit. Its absolutely beautiful! The cobalt blue flower and number three richly stand out. The front of the crock is STAMPED"J FISHER LYONS NY" and was made sometime between 1872 and 1902. It measures 9 3/4" tall and 11" wide not including the handles. There are two cracks on the back that are pictured. Since they are on the back they do not affect the ability to display this piece. This auction is for a very rare 1 1/2 gallon salt glaize crock that has many production defects and a very unusual size making this crock a great addition to any collection. The crock displays very nicely. Then you look at it with a close examining eye you start to notice the manufactoring errors. The top or mouth measures 7 1/2" across on direction and 8" across in the opposite E-W N-S. The pattern lines around the top are not complete all the way around the crock. Rare Early Primitive 2 Gallon Red Clay Salt Glazed Crock w/ Cobalt Flowers
This is a fantastic rare early salt glazed crock with thick. Bold, cobalt blue markings. It would be a beautiful display piece with absolutely no chips and no cracks visible from the front, although there are some hairlines along the sides and back that I will detail below. There are two crows feet hairlines(one on each side, close to the handles) and three straight hairlines along the back(one coming up from the bottom edge that also spreads a couple inches into the bottom, and two coming down from the top edge) All damage is visible in the photos. It looks fantastic from the front. There are two molded handles on the sides and the inside is glazed brown. It will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Antique/Vintage Coates Cider (United Kingdom) Salt Glazed Pottery 2 Gallon Crock
This is a really interesting 2 gallon English stoneware domed top cider jug with its original spigot from the famous Redvers Coate processing mill ca. 1940s. Here is the history of the company: Coates comes up from Somerset. Where the cider apples grow. Its more than 75 years since the famous Coates cider was first made in the village of Nailsea near Bristol- and a quarter of a century since of a century since production ended. For people living outside the West Country Coates cider meant cartoon yokels announcing in rich Wurzel accents that Coates comes up from Zummerset, where the zider apples grow in a TV commercial. It was an inspired marketing move, especially as the jingle was based on the popular We Come Up from Somerset by the great Portishead songwriter Fred Wetherley Coates did indeed come up from Somerset and it was Redvers Coate, ... morethe company founder who did as much as anyone to move Somerset cider from the fields and into the cities. By the end of the Great War, cider was in decline. In 1887, Parliament had banned the traditional practice of paying farmworkers in cider( two quarts a day) and the growth in French wine drinking was hitting sales hard. Coate, a graduate of Bristol University was looking for a job in 1924, a time when Gloucester, Devon and Herefordshire ciders were being nationally marketed but Somerset products were scarcely known outside the county. He knew little about cider making so worked unpaid for a year at the Long Ashton Cider Research Institute before borrowing enough from family, and friends to open a cider works at Nailsea. He was just 23 years of age. The staff comprised Coate, foreman Charlie Higgins from Williams Cider, Backwell; Cooper Sid Summers, cellar man Jack AlIsop, clerk( and later company secretary) Frank Matthews, Bill Baker and a man called Iles. Redvers Coate had installed the most up to date equipment in his one shed, including three glass lined vats holding 10,000 gallons each. It has blue drip glazes on the handles! Also over the 4. I just thought it was amazing and different. One side it litterally indents in around the handles. Who left it like that! HA. Antique 5 Gallon Salt Glazed Red Clay Stoneware Crock w/ Cobalt Leaf (Red Wing?)
This is a rare 19th century 5 gallon salt glazed crock with cobalt blue leaf design. Possibly Red Wing. The markings are bold and the glaze is shiny and even. There are a few small chips along the inside of the top edge, one on the bottom of one of the handles, and a tiny one on the back of the bottom edge. There is a hairline that runs down one side next to a small crow's foot. None of the damage is visible from the front, and it still looks fantastic. It would make an excellent display piece! It will be packed well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

RARE J.M. Jegglin Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock 4 gallon 19th Century Boonville
This very rare J.M. Jegglin crock was rescued from the bottom of an ice cellar that was getting ready to be filled in on a farm just outside of Victoria Kansas. It is a four gallon and measures approximately 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" I have not. Nor will I attempt to, try and clean this. It is in"ice cellar find" condition. A couple small chips that are shown in the pictures and a dimple from when it was manufactured on the side, which was hard to photograph and the remaining glazing is rough but no cracks or major damage. A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR RESTORATION IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. I am not a stoneware expert so I will do my best to answer questions. This very rare white salt glazed Niloak 4 gallon crock. The item was found here in Benton Arkansas at a local sale. It is a four gallon and measures approximately 14 5/8" tall x 10 1/2" wide. Two pre fired drilled 1/8 holes were drilled at 180 degrees apart toward the top most probably set for a metal bail of of some type(see last photo)There is no lid. Hello and thank you for taking the time to view my auction listing. I have available a very RARE find. It is a salt glazed interior and exterior. 1 1/2" gallon stoneware crock. This hand made crock has not chips or major cracks to speak of. The only noticed damage when inspecting it closely in the light was what I took a picture of in picture#6. It is a hairline spider, that is not all the way through. The height of this unusual crock is 10 1/16" tall x 7 1/2 bottom x 7 1/4" top and has 3/4" walls. When looking inside the interior walls, finger and tool marks are present. The bottom is completely flat, consistent with a piece made in the later part of the 1800's. The interior color is glazed over black and the exterior has stenciled 1 1/2 under glaze in cobalt blue. Antique Red Wing 10 Gallon Stoneware Crock Bail Handles Salt Glazed Petal Cover
For you today is a Fabulous Antique Red Wing 10 Gallon Stoneware Crock with black wood bail handles. The metal handle supports are strong and intact. The Wing on this crock is much larger and brighter than I have seen on many crocks. Beautiful. The crock itself is very clean and in wonderful condition especially for being almost 100 years old. It is dated by the right handle. Patented, Dec. 21st, 1915. There are 2 cracks on the inside bottom that are about 3/4 of an inch long if that. One, a surface scratch and the other is a bit bigger. There is one turkey track on the back. There are some surface cracks around the crock, nothing serious at all. The Salt Glazed Lid has a light#10 on the top of one of the petals. It has some surface cracks on it, again nothing serious. It also has a few turkey tracks. The crock has one 1/2" chip on the ... morebottom edge and the lid has one chip the same size approx. on the round lip underneath the lid. This crock is wonderful. Beautiful piece of American Pottery. The small white mark to the left of the Swank stamp seems to be glue from a piece of tape or price sticker. Possibly. I do not clean any items of this type or age. I leave that to the buyer. The measurements are as follows.8.5 inches in height, 8 inches in diameter at the top, 4.75 inches at the base. Antique Primitive 19th c 3 Gallon Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock Cobalt Leaf Design
This is a very old and primitive-looking(not perfectly round. But slightly oblong in shape and the clay is slightly lumpy) 19th century 3 gallon salt glazed crock with bold cobalt leaf designs. It is sturdy, solid, and has a molded handle both sides. Due to age, the color of the clay has a slightly patchy appearance from discoloration. One of the handles has a few small flakes, but there are no other chips on the crock. There are three short cracks on the top edge that don't go all the way through the clay and look like they might be splits from firing. One very fine unnoticeable hairline on the top edge is slightly visible inside and out and is probably a true hairline from damage, but it is very difficult to see. All cracks are shown in the photos. There are two yellow streaks in the glaze on the front, also shown in the photos. They ... moreare part of the glaze and happened during manufacture. The crock measures 11" in diameter x 10 3/4" H. It will be packed securely in a double box and insured during shipping.
