It is a one-handled bean pot from a New England farm, and was made that way-handle is undamaged. The clay pot has damage-it has a flattish chip along the side of the top edge(see pics) and it has a crack going vertically down one side which branches below it to a horizontal crack near bottom-I have included close-up pic and several other pics identifying this damage for your inspection, this crock is not vintage but is older and antique(please see pics and be aware of the damage-sold'as is' Perhaps this old bean pot could be re-purposed into another piece or for use in a rustic art project. This antique bean pot has so much artisan charm. I have been unable to find another one like it. Research suggests that it is from the late 1800's around Chester county PA. It is a three toned brown glaze, with its original lid. The only damage are a few chips to the lid.

ANTIQUE RARE SINGLE HANDLED BROWN STONEWARE BEAN POT? 7 CUPS DECORATIVE LID
FAMILY OWNED- SINGLE HANDLE- 7 CUP- UNUSUAL LID- UNMARKED- BROWN STONEWARE- BEAN POT I am only an inheritor. Not a dealer, nor an expert. All I can tell you is that this item was inherited from my mother-in-law, and that it came through her family. She was born in 1906 and this would have been her mother's. My mother-in-law was not a handy person in the kitchen, so I can't imagine why she would have had this if it hadn't come from her mother. I have tried to research this item and I believe that this would be referred to as"alkaline glaze" There are only 2 tiny chips in the finish(pictures 10& 11) All the rest of the"marks" that the pictures show, are flaws in the glaze and I have tried to show all of them. No, this is not a perfect pot, but I believe that the lid is original to the piece because of the ... morefit and because of the color of the stoneware on the unglazed bottom of both the pot and the lid. I have looked at a ridiculous number of photos of stoneware and can't not find one like this, so I believe that it is unusual to the time. I have no idea if this moved with them from Ohio, or was purchased after they lived in Indiana, and with no maker's mark on it, I have no idea for sure where it was made. It does hold 7 cups when full. But for practical purposes I think they probably did not ever fill it with more than 6 cups. The interior is well glazed with no missing glaze, so obviously it was purchased for it's functionality, not it's beauty. But, now considering it's current age, I think I would call it beautiful. It measures 7" as a base diameter and is about 4 1/2" tall, and weighs 4lbx 4 oz. so it a heavy piece. It needs a new home as we are now of an age that downsizing is inevitable. The bean pot is in very good condition with no chips or cracks including the lid. It shows crazing due to the age. It measures 6 inches tall to the top of the finial on the lid and 7 ½ inches across to the end of the handle. The crock itself is 5 ½ inches tall and 5 ¼ inches in diameter. Antique Advertising Friend's Baked Beans Stoneware Crock Bean Pot
Up for auction is a vintage antique Friend's advertising stoneware bean crock recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition. The only issue is a small loss on the back. It was done in the firing. There is no lid. I'm not sure if there ever was one. The lettering is black on a white background. Primary colors are brown, white, gold and black. This piece measures approximately 3 1/8" with an opening diameter of approximately 2" in diameter. Nice for repurposing or as a display item. Vintage Antique Brown Stoneware Crock Bean Pot Stamped Blue Crown 2 on Bottom
Nice old stoneware crock in a glossy dark brown glaze. Stamped on bottom with Crown logo and"2" in blue(or greenish blue) ink. One handle and a lid. Lid may not be original to the piece(I got this at an estate auction) As it is a much lighter color glaze, more like a caramel. Lid also has a large chip. Looks like it might hold 2 quarts. This piece measures approx. 5.5" tall and 5" in diameter across the base, giving it a full, rounded shape. There are some bare spots, running, and bumps in the glaze that appear to be original to manufacture. Otherwise, no major chips, cracks, fractures, crazing, or other damage.
