Williams and Reppert GREENSBORO PA Stoneware Crock 2 Gallon 12" Tall, Cracked
ANTIQUE.WILLIAMS AND REPPERT.GREENSBORO PA.STONEWARE CROCK.2 GALLON.12" TALL THIS LISTING IS FOR AN ANTIQUE STONEWARE CROCK. IT IS VERY OLD. BUT I DO NOT KNOW IT'S AGE. THE CROCK HAS A 2 ON THE FRONT. I ASSUME THAT MEANS IT IS 2 GALLONS. IT IS PRINTED IN A BEAUTIFUL COBALT BLUE COLOR. THE PRINT ON THE FRONT SAYS: WILLIAMS AND REPPERT.GREENSBORO PA.2 Condition: This crock has a large crack on one side that goes all the way down and across the bottom. Someone has filled the crack with some type of epoxy. Or rubber cement. There is a smaller crack on the other side that goes half way down the side. Even with this large crack, it still seems very strong and sturdy. I put water in the crock, and it will not hold it, it just drips out. It has several smaller hairline cracks on bottom. The large crack is in the back so it would be hard ... moreto see, if it was for decorating purposes) I guess it would still be a beautiful conversation piece, great for any rustic decor or for holding dried flowers! I'm always happy to answer any questions you may have. Please ask questions PRIOR TO PURCHASING. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!
T.F. REPPERT Greensboro PA Antique Stoneware Crock Jar Grey Blue 2 Gallon Plow
T.F. Reppert antique stoneware crock from Greensboro PA. Sadly this one is broken. It was shipped to my father and didn't survive the trip. He is thinning out his collection beginning with the broken ones. This was broken into pieces and glue repaired. I'm sure a professional repair job could be possible. But this feels pretty sturdy as is. It would not hold water but still displays well. It's a beautiful piece of history that can't be replaced and shouldn't just be thrown away because it's broken. So, in it's AS IS state, with this low starting price I would say this would be a great piece to bulk up a growing or new collection, or for shelf display. Low starting price for a piece that would be worth over $200 in mint condition. This is a 2 gallon crock that measures 7.25" across the top, 12" tall, and ... more7.5" across the bottom. It has a blue band at the top and at the bottom. One squiggly line near top. It says T F Reppert, Greensboro PA, features a plow design in the center and has a number 2 with arrows on each side. I've tried to photograph this in as much detail as possible, so please see pics for exact condition. I will bubble wrap, double box, paper shred or peanut this to make it as safe for shipping as possible. Please ask any questions before bidding, Thank you for looking! Antique Hamilton & Jones Greensboro Pa 1 gal Crock Stoneware Decorated 19thC VTG
Up for auction is this 1 gallon stoneware crock made by Hamilton& Jones Greensboro Pennsylvania in the mid to late 1800s. It is a putty color stoneware with a clean rich color inside. It is 9 1/2 inches tall. 5 3/4 inches across the top and 6 1/4 inches across the bottom. There is a slight hairline that starts at the rim and is hard to see, starts at top and is 2 1/2 inches long and is inside also. The other is what appears to be a glaze stress line on the back of the crock. As I have tried to show you in last two pics, this hairline or stress fracture starts 2- 3 inches from the top and spiders down like a lightening bolt, as you can see in last two photos, it is not inside the crock. It does reach to approx 2 inches from the bottom of the crock near where there is a chunk chip out of the bottom. Overall this crock is a great piece. ... moreThese imperfections are not noticable. I didn't even see what Im calling a stress fracture to the glaze until just now. I list all imperfections because I want you to know what you are getting. Offered here without reserve is this one gallon saltglaze stoneware crock by Hamilton of Greensboro Pa. She measures 10" high. Again, though there is no reserve but buyer pays $16 for domestic USPS shipping.
EARLY MID 1800's JAS JAMES HAMILTON SALTWARE / STONEWARE CROCK GREENSBORO PA NR
EARLY MID 1800's JAS JAMES HAMILTON SALTWARE/ STONEWARE CROCK GREENSBORO PA Well. If you know crocks, then you probably know what you're seeing. This is an original JAS James Hamilton& Co. saltware/ stoneware crock. It's blue and gray salt glazed stoneware crock is marked"JAS. Hamilton& Co. and"Greensboro. PA. We found this information about the Hamilton companies from Greensboro on Wikipedia: Early on in the town’s history. Pottery became an important part of Greensboro’s economic base, with the first operation owned and operated by Alexander Vance. Vance settled in Greensboro in the early 19th century, while still very young, and began a small pottery trade operation with his brother James. The stoneware was unique in that it was manufactured from local red clay and thus had a very distinctive coloring. The ... moreVances eventually began to expand their operations. Bringing in David Boughner, who took over the business in 1819 when the Vances left for Ohio. Boughner was the first operator to fire the stoneware in a salt kiln. Although Boughner’s operation may have been among the earliest and most advanced stoneware operation in the area. It was by no means the only one. James and William“Leet” Hamilton arrived from New Brighton, Pennsylvania, in 1850 and started a pottery manufacturing company of their own. The remains of their endeavors, which operated under the name James Hamilton and Company, can still be found along Water Street. The original James Hamilton and Company did not last long. However, and in 1866 was sold to Leet’s son Frank and a son-in-law named John Jones. Together Frank Hamilton and Jones expanded the business and began selling their wares on a grander scale.
